McKinney’s Lawyer says she is just a victim of racism

Published by Karl at 7:34 pm under Democrats, racism

I haven't blogged this, as the idea that an elected politician is a criminal is not really a shock.

But since she is now playing the race card, I want to weigh in.

A brief summary of the issue.

(from St): McKinney punches Capitol Hill police officer

According to sources on Capitol Hill, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a Capitol police officer on Wednesday afternoon after he mistakenly pursued her for failing to pass through a metal detector.

Members of Congress are not required to pass through metal detectors.

Sources say that the officer was at a position in the Longworth House Office Building, and neither recognized McKinney, nor saw her credentials as she went around the metal detector.

The officer called out, “Ma’am, Ma’am,” and walked after her in an attempt to stop her. When he caught McKinney, he grabbed her by the arm.

Witnesses say McKinney pulled her arm away, and with her cell phone in hand, punched the officer in the chest.

Her official response:

"Earlier today I had an unfortunate confrontation with a Capitol Hill Police Officer. It is traditional protocol that Capitol Hill Police Officers secure 535 Members of Congress, including 100 Senators. It is the expectation of most Members of Congress that Capitol Hill Police officers know who they are. I was urgently trying to get to an important meeting on time to fulfill my obligations to my constituents. Unfortunately, the Police Officer did not recognize me as a Member of Congress and a confrontation ensued. I did not have on my Congressional pin but showed the Police Officer my Congressional ID.

So she was in a hurry, wasn't wearing her lapel pin, blew a checkpoint, refused a call to identify herself, and when detained, she assaults the cop.  And then doesn't even apologize.

So today comes the news that she may be arrested:

McKinney Faces Arrest for Scuffle

Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney delayed a scheduled news conference Friday morning as U.S. Capitol police reportedly made plans to seek an arrest warrant against her for striking a police officer.

Included in the story is this comforting piece of news:

They say that actor Danny Glover will also be present at the news conference to be held on Howard University's campus in northwest Washington.

Um, why?

This is why....

McKinney says officer 'instigated' incident

..."Let me be clear. This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me..."

By Instigated I suppose she means that she broke the law and he instigated an effort to stop her? Inappropriate meaning he was inappropriate to stop someone violating a security checkpoint?

Nope....lets see the whole thing in context:

Congresswoman's lawyer blames incident on race

Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Georgia congresswoman who had an altercation with a Capitol Police officer, said Friday a Capitol police officer started the incident by "inappropriately touching and stopping" her after she walked past a security checkpoint.

McKinney, speaking at a news conference, declared she will be exonerated.

"Let me be clear. This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female black congresswoman," McKinney said, surrounded by supporters at predominantly black Howard University.

I am disappointed really, it only took her one stinking day to make her felonious actions of violating security and assault into a matter of race.

Her lawyer, James W. Myart Jr., said, "Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin."

"Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black," Myart said. "Congresswoman McKinney will be exonerated."

I got news for her lawyer.  She was detained because she violated security measures set up for her own protection, she was detained when she refused to obey an officer's command to stop and identify herself, and she will be arrested because she assaulted the officer who was doing his job, which is to protect her ungrateful sorry ass.

In other words, IMHO of course, Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is a selfish, spoiled, power crazed and ungrateful bitch who thinks she is above the law and immune from the penalty of her own actions.

That she is black is merely her excuse.

She has admitted she was not wearing the pin that identifies her, so she was clearly in the wrong.  Should they assume she is not a security threat simply because she is a black woman?

The response from Washington DC is typical:

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), talking to reporters Thursday, called the incident "a mistake," and said she hoped the police and McKinney could settle the dispute.

Pelosi said it was understandable that an officer who didn't recognize a member of Congress would try to stop her from going around a checkpoint. But she added, "I can also understand that members who have been here a long time think they're recognizable. I wouldn't make a big deal of this."

Sure make excuses...good God, what did these people's parents teach them?

I hope they thorw the book at her, but the mere mention of racial allegations will likely make this all go away, and another idiot will roam free in the halls of Congress.

I love you. She’s the biggest racist in Georgia right now. Can’t we just throw her out of the state or something? Seriously.

    The Embarrassment of Cynthia McKinney…

The arrogence of it all. I suppose it would be a bit of a put off for Representative McKinney to have to show her ID to enter the House of Representatives. Afterall, she’s Cynthia McKinney….

You forgot to mention that Congress woman McKinney had changed her hairdo without notifying security.  No pin, new hairdo, excessive arrogances, no entry.  It is lucky that she was not going into a restaurant, who knows what the press would be reporting.
