Another Kennedy That Can’t Drive? Inconceivable!

Published by Karl under Idiots, National News, Politics

I am trying hard not to laugh, because on the surface this just seemed like it had to be a joke.

Patrick Kennedy-make that Rep Patrick Kennedy, the son of Sen Ted "can’t swim" Kennedy was involved in a car crash and is reputed to have gotten preferential treatment by the Capital Police.  And he may have been drunk.

Police: Kennedy Appeared Intoxicated At Car Crash

Rep. Patrick Kennedy crashed his car near the Capitol early Thursday, and a police official said he appeared intoxicated. Kennedy said he had had no alcohol before the accident.

Of course.  Sealed

Kennedy was reportedly behind the wheel of a green Ford Mustang when it crashed into a security barrier at 1st and "C" streets Southeast.

Observation:  He drives a cooler car then his dad did. (1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88) Cool

No one was hurt, but there are reports that the car nearly struck a Capitol police cruiser and that it had been swerving, as if trying to make a U-turn.

Dad claimed he made a wrong turn too…Like Father Like Son.

So far, Kennedy HAS NOT been charged.

Immigration policies discriminate- Against blacks?

Published by Karl under Illegal immigration

With all the Mexican immigrant right’s groups howling that new laws are racist, at least one group agrees with them, except they feel that the Hispanics are the priviledged class and that they are the ones being discriminated against.

I find this strangly ironic.  But it also nicely shows how easy it is to skew the debate and why we clearly need realistic immigration reform.

Blacks slam immigration bias

Black leaders say Mexicans and other Hispanic nationals are getting preferential immigration treatment, as the U.S. systematically turns away people from countries with largely African-descended populations, such as Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

"We’ve told Haiti that their development strategy cannot be to send people to the United States, and if you put them on a boat we will send them back. But for Mexico it is OK," said William E. Spriggs, chairman of Howard University’s School of Economics and a senior fellow with the Economic Policy Institute.

The leaders, especially conservatives, say the country can’t have an honest immigration reform debate without discussing how much people are being paid and why only certain nationalities are allowed to come into the country illegally and work off the books.

Citizens detained while illegals march.

Published by Karl under Illegal immigration, guns

Illegal Immigration Counter Protesters Detained

The topic of discussion on the Bryan Suits radio show on 570 KVI earlier this evening was a call by a Seattle area citizen, Eric, who called to say that while thousands of illegal immigrants marched a couple of feet away, 5 United States citizens, he being one of the 5, who should be covered by all of the constitutional amendments, including the 1st and 2nd, were detained by the Seattle Police Department for over 2 hours because… well hard to say really. The reason for Caller Eric’s call into the show was, surprise, surprise, the medias total lack of coverage of what should be a fairly big story. U.S. Citizens constitutional rights infringed in order to protect illegal aliens non existent right to hold a protest march.

Moussaoui Formally Sentenced

Published by Karl under 9/11, terrorism

The Jodge formally sentenced Moussaoui to ife in prison this morning.

Breit Bart reports that:

U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema told Zacarias Moussaoui "you will die with a whimper," never allowed to speak publicly again, as she sentenced him to life in prison.

Brinkema handed down the sentence at the end of a two-month trial in which the jury rejected the government’s case to have Moussaoui executed.

Of course the man had to have his tough talk:

An unrepentant Moussaoui, the only person tried in the U.S. for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, warned Americans in his final public words that they would never catch Osama bin Laden.

"God save Osama bin Laden _ you will never get him," Moussaoui declared moments after walking into the courtroom flashing a victory sign.

"You have branded me as a terrorist or a criminal or whatever," he said. "Look at yourselves. I fight for my belief." He spoke for less than five minutes; the judge told him he could not use his sentencing to make a political speech.

Moussaoui should do his time here, not France

Published by Karl under 9/11, terrorism

Updated Below

The breath holding is over, Moussaoui got spared the death penalty.  While there will be debates about why for years to come, it’s a done deal and we need to move on.

But we need to do so here, not in France, and by that I mean that he needs to do his time here, in the Country where he committed the crimes.

France could seek Moussaoui transfer

France could at some stage ask the United States to allow Zacarias Moussaoui to serve his life prison sentence in a French jail, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Moussaoui, a 37-year old French citizen of Moroccan origin, was jailed for life by a U.S. jury on Wednesday for his role in the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States.

France and the United States signed two agreements in the 1980s about the transfer of convicts and Moussaoui’s mother Aisha el Wafi and his lawyer have asked that the Frenchman be allowed to serve his sentence in his home country.
