More racism aimed at Michelle Malkin

Published by Karl at 11:45 am under Idiots, Liberals, racism

I like Michelle.  I don’t always agree with every aspect of her commentary, but that’s free speech for ya, and it’s part of being unique: we all have our lines in the sand, and we all have our own pet peeves.  All of us bloggers bring our own perspective to the table.

She however drives liberals nuts.

I don’t know if it is her points hitting too close to home, or just that they cannot handle being criticized in general. I also cannot discount the notion that it is her gender or race that bothers them, since so many of their hate filled comments seem to draw on those characteristics.

Take the latest round at her site:

DO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

wonkette: OMG I AM WATCHING MICHELLE MALKIN’S INTERNET VIDEOS FOR THE FIRST TIME
operative: she has internet videos?
operative: does she do the thing with the ping-pong balls?
(source)

Pat yourselves on the backs, you tolerant liberal bastards.

***

This is hardly
the first
time
liberals
have
made Asian whore ping-pong ball jokes
about me.

But Wonkette has now mainstreamed it. And I’m sick of it. Are you proud of yourselves? Do you get a bonus from Nick Denton for scraping the bottom of the barrel?

That’s what I cannot understand about liberals, racism and tolerance.

In politics, the 3 do not mix.  They just cannot disagree with being personal, and sometimes very hateful.  Why women’s groups and minorities continue to flock to the democrats, when they have such hate filled people in their ranks is a surprise to me sometimes.

To be fair, there are conservative and moderate hate filled bigots too.  But regardless, it is wrong and I tell them the same thing.

I saw no indication from Wonkette that this was unacceptable behavior, and that’s disappointing.  I understand they pride themselves on being gritty and crude, and that’s fine.  That does not have to be ad hominem racial attacks, does it?

I pride myself on not being afraid to link to diverse sources, but Wonkette just got dropped from my blogroll.  Enough is enough.

Thanks for a thoughtful post.  I couldn’t agree more.
In my view, the hateful ad hominem attacks we so often see from liberals is caused simply by their lack of intelligence.  They’re unable to cogently argue for their positions, so they resort to personal, racist attacks.  And they’re so smug in their elitist confidence that they’re unable to see their racist ignorance for what it is.

    Who’s Intolerant Again?…

Check out this example of “tolerance” by the left:

Apparently conservatives are too busy patting themselves on the back for reading a minority woman’s blog to recognize her’s or their own hypocrisy. Malkin has been on her Mohammad Cartoon Jihad kick for a while now. So apparently it’s vitally important for democracy that cartoons (which are so offensive to a group of people that it causes violent protest) be shoved down all our throats (After all, they’re just cartoons for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sakes!)But when somebody makes offensive jokes towards her, it’s like, totally different. No doubt because she made some complex moral reasoning weighing racist speech versus anti-religious imagery  that she didn’t let us in on, and not because she has a wildly inconsistent worldview that all Republicans don’t not have.Well y’know what, if Wonkette can’t make racist sexist jokes about Michelle Malkin, the terrorists win.I do love this argument that conservatives have become fond of lately- "Sure, in general we are pretty intolerant towards all non-whites, non-Christians, intellectuals, immigrants, dirty poor people, dirty French people, etc… But look at how intolerant all of them are towards us!" They then take the most outrageous liberal statement they can find, even if they have to scavenge for forum trolls and go through their anonymous hate mail, and then hold it up as the mainstream liberal view while ignoring anything approaching reasoned critique.Hear that sound? That’s the sound of democracy dying slowly and painfully. Thank you conservative punditry!

    Blooper,
Your comment isn’t sensible enough for me to respond to it reasonably.

I’ll take a whack at it.

Well, actually yes they are  different.

Michelle, IMHO, is  using them to illustrate that there is a double standard in the American media, that if it offends (for example) Christians who cares, but heaven protect us from offending the Muslims.  There is no logical justification for their refusal to give christians the same courtesy.

There is a difference between pointing out the media’s forced sensitivity and hypocritical "tolerance", and making a personal and racially motivating remark towards a person.  If you wish to equate them, thats finek, but it is an illogical position.

Well y’know what, if Wonkette can’t make racist sexist jokes about Michelle Malkin, the terrorists win.

Now that is a wild connection to make.  Sure I suppose you want to equate it to free speech, and it is.  But then everyone elses complaining about it is equally as free, so blogs like this one should be applauded for continuing the debate.

I do love this argument that conservatives have become fond of lately- "Sure, in general we are pretty intolerant towards all non-whites, non-Christians, intellectuals, immigrants, dirty poor people, dirty French people, etc… But look at how intolerant all of them are towards us!"

Um, that is completely left field and since I have never heard a conservative make that argument, I won’t bother defnding it against its obvious lack od sense.

They then take the most outrageous liberal statement they can find, even if they have to scavenge for forum trolls and go through their anonymous hate mail, and then hold it up as the mainstream liberal view while ignoring anything approaching reasoned critique.

I am afraid Michelle has every right to expose the ugliness, hatred, and overt hypocrisy of her critics.

Should they want their bigotry to remain hidden, they may want to consider not posting it on public wwebsites.

Hear that sound? That’s the sound of democracy dying slowly and painfully. Thank you conservative punditry!

I don’t think so.  Her complaint about being likened to a whore is hardly severe enough to kill democracy.  But thanks for caring.

And after all, you are complaining and implying that she is not allowed to excercise her free speech rights, even as you defend Wonkette.  Aside from showing yourself as a hypocrite, you are actually doing as much damage to democracy as you insinuate she is.

Um…I don’t see the racism…the sexism yeah…but I have seen the "thing with the ping pong balls" used in reference to women of all races.  I think people are seeing "racism" because Michelle is of asian heritage.  It’s in bad tastes, but it doesn’t seem inherently racist.  Just sexist.

  7. Karlon 22 May 2006 at 2:59 pm

thanks for stopping in Thom.  I understand what you are saying, even as the whore remarks are racially neutral.  But my military roots are shining through here again, because when my teammates deployed to many Asian countries, such as Thailand, Korea and the PI, they all told tales of that particular trick, and it was always those great asian girls in the areas around the bases.  They were not even whores in many cases, as at some shows it was dancer/strippers performing the tricks.  No sex was performed.

In comparison, the guys returning from Europe told tales of brothels, and never came close to the same kind of stories as the guys from the PI.

Had anyone just said a woman doing the poing pong ball trick, it never would have occured to me it wasnt an asian girl doing it.  Maybe that is my own bias intruding, but when I read it, my first impression was a sexist and racial remark.
