Plame sues White House figures over CIA leak

Published by Karl at 3:43 pm under Idiots, Iraq

Now, this is a real shocker.  Valerie Plame, the ex CIA officer is suing Cheney, Libby and Rove, accusing them of conspiracy to end her career.

This makes me laugh.  Seriously.

She sues 3 people who did not leak her name, but fails to sue the two people who really did.

The first is Novak himself, whose article started all of this.  And he has clearly stated that the three people in question did not leak her name.  What is interesting is where he did learn her name:  From her husband, Joe Wilson.  Wilson listed her name in his who’s who listing.

According to the information known right now, Novak learned from an as yet unnamed primary source that Wilson’s wife sent him to Niger.  He got her name from Who’s Who.  He then confirmed it from the others.

But more fun will be how she will answer the questions of damage. If she takes the stand to detail it she opens herself up to answering the questions about sending Joe in the First place, which should be interesting.

Former CIA officer and husband file lawsuit against Cheney, Libby, Rove

The CIA officer whose identity was leaked to reporters sued Vice President Dick Cheney, his former top aide and presidential adviser Karl Rove on Thursday, accusing them and other White House officials of conspiring to destroy her career.

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, Valerie Plame and her husband, Joseph Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador, accused Cheney, Rove and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby of revealing Plame’s CIA identity in seeking revenge against Wilson for criticizing the Bush administration’s motives in Iraq.

Several news organizations wrote about Plame after syndicated columnist Robert Novak named her in a column on July 14, 2003. Novak’s column appeared eight days after Wilson alleged in an opinion piece in The New York Times that the administration had twisted prewar intelligence on Iraq to justify going to war.

So clearly she should be suing Novak.  Will the civil libertarians defend him from a suit on the damage his story did?

But it us moot.  She has no interest in real damage, she just wants to engage against the administration, the same way that Wilson lied about his findings in Niger in his much dissected report, and then went on to stump for Bush’s presidential opponent.  Had she included Novak, I might believe she felt she had suffered lose.

This has been investigated pretty heavily, and the Special Prosecutor has not indicted any of them, leading one to wonder why not?  Maybe they were uh…innocent?

In my opinion, she is nothing more then a nepotistic opportunist married to a lying opportunist. A pox on them both.

Who’s Who… The great neocon strawpony / scapegoat. The neocon flamethrowers have alledged this over and over, and there has never been a shred of confirmation. From your link:

"HUME: Characterize as best you can the conversation you had with the person who told you that Valerie Plame was CIA. How did you come to be talking to this person, what were you principally talking about and what was said?

NOVAK: It was an interview with a senior administration official who wasn’t an easy guy to get to see …

    HUME: In person?

NOVAK: In person. He gave me an interview. An hour-long interview, nobody else present. There is countervailing rule that you know is not to be attributed to me. We didn’t sit down and sign a contract, but you knew it was because he was very candid. We talked about a lot of things including Joe Wilson’s mission to Niger, which he was making a great deal of — paying a lot of attention to as a reason why the president misstated the need to go intervene in Iraq.

HUME: Let’s go back just a moment to the original source. Everyone in town wants to know who it is. I know you’re not prepared to divulge that, but what can we know about this person or I assume from what you just said in the conversation that you’re talking to this official and the conversation was primarily about other things. Is that a fair statement?

NOVAK: I think the conversation started about other things. About general foreign policy and administration policy and this was just a few days after the Joe Wilson column had appeared and I started to ask him about the Joe Wilson column, asked some questions about it, which heanswered to me and which I assumed was a background basis and then he volunteered this information about Mrs. Wilson."

Not a word about Who’s Who… I even searched the page, to make sure I didn’t miss it…

Karl, please: Don’t follow this crop of liars into liars land.

Twenty million at least for Plame… Out of Cheney’s fatass stolen Haliburton fortune… Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll pull a Ken Lay… That would be beautiful Karma!

Not true Possum, sorry.  My post stands.  If you had read my blog a few days ago when the story broke you would know the answer.
In Novaks Column day before yesterday, you can see it for yourself.
"Following my interview with the primary source, I sought out the second administration official and the CIA spokesman for confirmation. I learned Valerie Plame’s name from Joe Wilson’s entry in "Who’s Who in America." (emphasis added)"
    Sorry, but my facts stand.
