Poll results in the Lieberman and McKinney races (liveblogging over)
The polls just closed in Connecticut so the results there will shortly be posted.
The polls are also closed in Georgia, and early results show McKinney trailing, but it is far too early to tell.
I will update the races as the results come in.
Why bother? Because these two races will likely have a great impact in deciding the future direction of the Democratic party, and who controls it, the somewhat sensible moderates or the wacky hysterical fringe.
Lamont Declared Winner.
Georgia:McKinney- 42% Johnson- 58% precincts |
Connecticut:Lieberman 48.35% Lamont 51.65% precincts |
Final update for now, I will post the official results later.
There is a strange sense of irony watching this. In both cases the Democratic incumbent is losing to their challenger, but in one case I am happy, and the other sad. Also ironic is the polarization. McKinney is the extremist, her challenger more moderate, yet Lieberman is the moderate and his challenger slightly extreme.
There is also speculation that if Lamont wins it may open the race to a general election challenge, as Lamont may be too closely associated to the loonie side of the left.
Time will tell.

Think you got Lieberman and Lamont flipped around.
Lieberman 51.65%
Lamont 48.35%
I believe Lamont had the 51.65% and Lieberman 48.35%.
