Open Post Weekend: The path to 911 edition
My only observation tonight is that the intensity and the idiocy surrounding the ABC movie is really gone to crazy extremes, with so many left wing politicians lining up to demand it be pulled - not edited or corrected, but pulled.
Since Clinton will look bad no matter what, this is not a shock to me. But as I have noted before, the Democrats play loose with their consistency, and their credibility when they do not condemn things like the Reagan Miniseries, the CBS's Memogate and Michael Moore's Fantasy Flick Glaring-Spite Fahrenheit 9/11 (the temperature at which Michael Moore's credibility implodes). Hollywood itself is also complicit in this hypocritical witch hunt.
Two notes for you here, concerning this:
First, in a scary bit of irony the movie got one MSM supporter, and a surprising one at that:
The NY Times.
'NYT' Calls Controversial 9/11 Movie Evenhanded, Others Disagree
NEW YORK The film-makers and network responsible for the upcoming miniseries, "The Path to 9/11," which is now under assault for its alleged conservative bias, received critical support from a perhaps unexpected quarter on Friday -- The New York Times.
The paper's TV critic, Alessandra Stanley, declares the film "fictionalized" but still evenhanded.
Hardly a glowing recommendation but still surprising. Next will we see Jimmy Carter endorse it?
And the comment really does address the real issue: The movie may portray particular specific scenes incorrectly, but it is not overly biased, nor is it inconsistent with the generalized findings of the 911 Commission which noted both administrations did not fully comprehend the threat. The movie conveys that, from all sources.
The second piece is from my friend Sister Toldjah, who has once again rounded up some great information about the demands to censor and bury the movie.
Am I living in some alternative reality here?
Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, we find out this evening through several news links provided by Allah that rather than revise ABC’s “The Path to 9-11“, the Demofascists want it pulled altogether.
...
Comprende? The message: Even if you do revise it, don’t air it, because it was written by a right-winger whose sole mission is to distort the Clinton legacy. If you do decide to air it, expect to be questioned and grilled about whether or not you deserve to be able to retain your broadcast license.
Apparently the Dr. of Disology hasn’t been informed that the executive producer of this docudrama is a Democrat who has a history of supporting Bill Clinton and other Democrats.
She quotes an earlier article of her own as well, a paragraph that sums up a lot of unsaid things:
I wrote the following a couple of days ago, and think it’s worth mentioning again:
There is a reason Sandy Berger got caught with taking highly classified documents on the thwarted Y2K terrorist attack from the National Archives and intentionally destroying them. There are things that the Clinton administration did not do that they don’t want you to know about. The 9-11 Commission report mentioned some of them, but how many people actually read it? I believe the Clinton admin knows more people will watch this docudrama than read the 9-11 Commission report, and that’s what’s got them (and the Clinton faithful on the left) so fired up. They were content with their inaction being documented in the commission’s report because of two things 1) because the report put equal blame on both admins and 2) only diehard political junkies would read it.
Makes you wonder. What is certainly curious is why so many Democrats are in arms, when the movie does no favors to Bush, but his administration is strangely silent.
Methinks they continue to protest too much.
I will be posting lightly this weekend, until I post my 9/11 tribute on Monday.
Until then, open post away.
