The verdict for Saddam: Death!
He has been found guilty and sentanced to die, the reports say:
Angry, shaking and defiant, Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death this morning by hanging for ordering the massacre of Iraqi civilians.
Is anyone really surprised? Were the mass graves really that unconvincing?
The question of the day is whether this verdict, which has caused both dancing in the streets and threats of a firestorm of retaliation will make Iraq safer or more unstable.
The liberal nutroots will any moment claim the verdict was timed to give Bush the help for the elections, even as they pronounce the dire deterioration of any hope of peace.
The LA Times of course hints that the verdict was rigged and unfair, as well as the timing question.
Somewhere lost in the partisan bickering we lost sight of the reality of who and what he was.
He was a monster. He murdered people in his own country by the thousands, defied the world with his ambitions of domination and had no secret of his desire to see America burn. He financed terrorists worldwide, and harbored some within his own country.
He deserves no less then the verdict he got, which will be far more humane then the fate of the people who suffered under his hands.
I am sure Ramsey Clark is disappointed. And embarrassed…apparently he got tossed from the courtroom:
A former US attorney general representing Saddam Hussein was thrown out of court before his client’s verdict was read out.
The Judge reportedly said to Ramsay Clark “You are ridiculing the Iraqi people. You have come here from America. Get out.”
Ass clown.
I am sure most Kurds are elated with the verdict. I am more sympathetic to the Kurds then Ramsey. Maybe if several thousand of his relatives had been murdered he wouldn’t be over there defending a killer.
A friend who is anti-death penalty once told me that most people who favor capital punishment would not if they had to carry out the sentence personally.
Perhaps, but in my case, not even close. I would pull the lever on him without a moment’s hesitation.
Yes, I know he is just one man. Evil will not stop in his absence. His followers will continue his bloody legacy. There are many evil people in the world and all that.
Soon, however, there will be one less, and to quote Martha Stewart: "That’s a good thing…"
I will settle for that. Hang the bastard.
For a trial recap, Michelle Malking has alot of good info here.

He was indeed a monster. Anyone who remembers the mass graves or the mounds of evidence, some of it in his own hand knows this to be true.
Saddly, as long as evil has supporters like the New York Times and the L.A. Times and useful idiots like Ramsey Clark it will remain necessary to give people like Saddam a longer neck.
