Elections predictions
I predict that tomorrow we will see a lot of upsetting results and some surprises and in the final moment, we will suddenly realize that it doesn’t really make much of a difference.
I lived under the democrats controlling congress through the 80s until the early 90s when the republicans overthrew them.
Now the situation is potentially reversed. Through a lot of stupid acts by republicans, some bad leadership and a lot scaremongering the democrats may indeed sieze control of one or both houses of congress.
And in the end, the everyday guy (or gal….let’s not be sexist) will still be screwed and ignored.
I can no more drop in on my Senator and expect a meeting now then I will be able to then. They are out of touch and live in their ivory castles, insulated from the little people.
Immigration? Social Security? We have done nothing to fix those issues till now, and I doubt it will change.
Gay Marriage? Maybe a dem controlled house will legalize it, but the courts are taking us there one inch at a time already.
Terrorism? I don’t think they can dismantle the war in Iraq in less then two years, so Bush will maintain it that long, which I think is for the better, but the dems will still rag on and on about Bush’s failed war.
Sooner or later AQ will strike again, and like 911 more effort will be made to blaming each other then to enforcement and protection.
We will continue the tug or war between rights and protections.
Michael J Fox will continue to accuse any who do not vote for ESCR of not wanting to see him cured, Michael Moore will make a movie that lies about conservatives, and Ann Coulter will make millions offending liberals.
The only change I may feel is the child tax credit which many dems oppose renewing. So yea, I may pay more in taxes.
Oh well. In the end, they don’t care about the people, they care about the power.
Yea, I am feeling cynical tonight, does it show? It just depresses me that I see my daughter who has so much hope and life, and yet I see nothing in the future to encourage her.
We have a two party system where polorization is more important then issues, where power is more important then service, and where ethics are for trade or sale on a daily basis.
I sit here, bombarded by misleading hyped TV ads from all sides and honestly I just want to get it over with.
Tomorrow a bunch of democrats will win, they will gloat then they will march to Washington and begin the process all over again, until in a few years the democrats get cocky and the republicans do a new contract with America.
Some republicans will also win, which will immediately invoke accusations of cheating, disenfranchisement and probably racism. Everything else seems to get blamed on racism, so why not.
Nothing really changes….Lather, Rinse and Repeat.
One question. In 2 years, when nothing is really better, who will they blame then?

Great observations, Sad but true….Status quo, except now the Bush bashing will get worse, and no matter what happens the blame will always fall on the republicans.. when the economy tanks Bush will be blamed. even though it was robust when the Republicans were in control no credit was given.
Who will they blame? The outgoing guys of course. Isn’t that the way it always happens? Personally, I think they are all liars and crooks. Karl, you aren’t alone in your cynicism.
