Rangel continues his disdain of the Military and insults my son.
I know I should remain respectful, but sometimes Rangel just makes me wanna beat the shit out of him. (pardon the profanity)
Hat tip on this is from Stop the ACLU. Here is Charlie’s latest idiocy. Hot Air has the video:
I want to make it abundantly clear: if there’s anyone who believes that these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits. And most all of them come from communities of very, very high unemployment. If a young fella has an option of having a decent career or joining the army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq.
Why do these people even pretend that they respect the Military? It is such cheap lip service.
The obvious question is why does no one call Rangle on his Sexism. Last I heard girls go into the military too. But let’s ignore that for a second.
To people like Rangel and Kerry, the only reason they like the Military is that to them it is a social dumping ground to put in all the losers. To them the military is just the infantry, a bunch of loser grunts with guns. Loser GUY grunts of course.
They apparently missed the Heritage study.
They ignore the truth that the Military is still led by Commissioned Officers. And conveniently they forget that those Commissioned officers attended some of the finest Colleges and Universities in in our country, like, oh maybe John Kerry?
Those officers obviously become the leaders, who march along side their men on the ground, but they are also the pilots who fly thousands of sorties in our most technologically advanced aircraft.
The are the Captains and officers of the Ships and Submarines in our Navy, who patrol the world’s Oceans.
They are the advisers and aids who accompany the president daily and carry the "football", even as they are even the unnamed men who sit on watch in the fire control of our nations nuclear missile launch centers…waiting in case their most grim duty comes to pass.
But. they are also the Doctors and Nurses who care for the wounded on the battlefields and in hospitals. They are the Lawyers and Judges in the Military Court System.
Last time I looked, Doctors and Lawyers made a lot of money on the outside world, but here they are making a mere pittance of what they could potentially make on the outside.
On the enlisted side there are mechanics who service our nation’s military vehicles, planes and ships; who could do better pay wise on the outside, but they choose to stay. There are medical technicians in those hospitals who also give up higher paychecks. There are communication technicians, computer technicians, programmers, developers and software engineers all of whom could do decidedly better outside.
Yes, many people join the military see it as an opportunity to get training that they might not be able to get otherwise. The military in this sense does a good thing in providing what I think is a valued service to society.
They have the ability to screen, classify and train people into places where they have the most aptitude. They learn, they train and they become skilled workers in many fields.
And of those, many choose to take that training and move to the private sector after their initial service commitment is up.
But many do not. Many even in the most unpleasant fields see their service as a career and chose to stay on active duty and retire. Many feel a pride of service that makes the sacrifices and lower wages worth it. Many feel a love of country and take pride in their service.
And please never forget the National Guard and Reservists who do both, who have good careers on the outside, and still sacrifice a prt of their lives for service.
And yes, some of these people become the grunts, the ground troops, the boots on the ground that are essential in any war. They are the ones who bear the brunt of the war, the deaths and injuries.
So let me ask Charlie to explain to me this: If he is right, and if "No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits", Then why do people leave lucrative careers and join the military to drive tanks and to be ground troops? Why has the military continued to make its recruiting goals.
Because they see something in that service that Charlie does not.
Commitment. Patriotism. Honor.
And most of all, Pride.
I wish people like Rangel took pride in their service as well.
On behalf of the millions of men and women who have, are and will serve their country, including my son who is Navy bound, let me be the first to tell Mr Rangle to Sod Off.
Because Charlie? You obviously don’t know shit about the military; about the men and women in the military; and most certainly you do not know jack about my son.
And you just made it personal.
