Rosie O’Donnell vs Donald Trump? save me a seat at this dance

Published by Karl under Idiots, hollywierd

Rosie "the mouth with a View" O’Donnell has finally fouind a owrthy opponent to her persisent verbal diahrea:  Donald "I can buy and fire you" Trump.

H/T to Sanity in the comments, and to Hot Air for the rest of the link round ups.

I love it.  Seems Rosie Called him a snake oil salesman after mocking him for his press conference allowing Miss USA to keep her crown, and fnow "the Don" is not only threatening a legal suit, he is also suggesting he can get another woman to steal away her girlfriend.

This is better then a soap opera.  Wait, I think I saw this plot on Pro Wrestling.

First is Newsbusters:

Donald Trump Announces Lawsuit of ‘Crude’ and ‘Ignorant’ Rosie O’Donnell

Multi-billionaire Donald Trump has announced that he is suing comedian Rosie O’Donnell. As reported by Access Hollywood (video about their ongoing feud available here, as well as here courtesy of our friend at Ms Underestimated, emphasis mine throughout):

Earlier this afternoon Trump announced he is filing suit against the TV talk show host. "She says things that come to her mouth, she’s not smart, she’s crude, she’s ignorant and to be honest I look forward to suing Rosie," he told our cameras. "I’m gonna sue her and I look forward to it. She’s really very dangerous for the show."

Then Hot Air picks up the story with Video Links as well.  The videos show two people who both are equally unhinged.  Honestly I hope Trump…err…trumps her, but he is hardly a sympathetic guy in his own right.  Seeing him get fired from the court case woud be worth it except for her insufferable bragging.

As Allah said:

There’s no rooting interest here. It’s the equivalent of a Saudi-Iranian standoff: all you’re hoping for is heavy casualties.

Indeed.  Likely this may fade out and go away, but heck, we can always hope for a deep and bitter feud.

It will finally make The View and Trump entertaining.

Once again in Hollywierd, the truth beats fiction hands down.

Penn and Teller expose the hypocrisy of PETA

Published by Karl under Idiots

H/T to Hot Air for reminding of something I have been wanting to post for a while.

I have long loved Penn and Teller, not only for their wild sense of humor and entertaining magic acts, but for their ability to cut through the bull and speak some fairly harsh and clear truths.  They have no agenda, they simply expose what they feel is the plain truth.

And they do it well.  They exposed the 911 conspiracy theory nutbags idiots people quite well, something I will post later this week.

In this harsh expose, they take on animal rights in general, and Peta in particular.

WARNING:  These videos contain disturbing images, harsh language and profanity.

Be warned, no matter where you fall on this issue, these videos may offend.

This is in two parts.  Part one deals with animal rights, part 2 with Peta.

No animals were harmed in the completion of these videos or this blog.

Rosie O’Donnell- Heartless or practical?

Published by Karl under Idiots

Heartless, in my opinion.

Rosie O’Donnell criticizes Mount Hood search effort

As the rescue effort continues on Mount Hood, so do the costs, which some critics are saying is way too much.

The gentler sex?  The compassionate women?  The nurturers?  You tell me.

Rosie O’Donnell and her co-hosts kicked off ‘The View’ Tuesday with the hot topic of the missing climbers on Mount Hood.

Rosie O’Donnell: "I read in the papers that over $2.5 million the search has cost so far to find these three men."

Jacque Reid, Guest Co-Host: "Here they are, they knew the storm was coming and they still opted to go out and who should pay the cost?"

Rosie O’Donnell: "What warrants 27 helicopters and 1,000 people looking?  I just don’t understand."

Joy Behar: "Send this team over to New Orleans and fix that situation."

Feel the love.

Question to all three whiners:  Would you feel the same if it was you up there?  Or one of your kids?  Or your spouses?

And while you are at it, show some freakin compassion to the families that might be watching your show, who might feel gratified that someone cares enough to look for their loved ones, even if it may only be to bring their bodies home.

Compassion matters.

Sheriff Joe Wampler with the Hood River Sheriff’s office has a few things to say:

Sheriff Joe Wampler with the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office has said all along that he is not looking at the cost of the rescue, he is looking for the men.

Wampler has poured his heart, soul and county’s manpower into finding the three climbers and resents the implications that the money would be better spent helping Katrina victims.

"I just want to reach out and grab her neck," he said.  "I mean, literally.  This is not stupid money.  This is important money.  This is about people’s lives."

He also addresses and debunks her claims about the cost:

Penn and Teller circulate a petition to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide

Published by Karl under Just for fun

As any good chemistry student knows, Dihydrogen Monoxide is a potentially lethal dangerous odorless colorless liquid.

From DHMO.org:

http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html

Each year, Dihydrogen Monoxide is a known causative component in many thousands of deaths and is a major contributor to millions upon millions of dollars in damage to property and the environment. Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:

  • Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
  • Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
  • Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
  • DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
  • Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
  • Contributes to soil erosion.
  • Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
  • Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
  • Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
  • Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
  • Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
  • Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
  • Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.

It’s no wonder Penn and Teller were so concerned.  Watch the video, then read more about it below.

Yea.  Water.  Would you have signed?

Also, and slightly more serious, consider this article and how it applies to the common use of Junk Science today, as well as in media spin.

Dihydrogen Monoxide:  Unrecognized Killer
by James K. Glassman
Copyright 1997 The Washington Post Company

The chemical compound dihydrogen monoxide (or DHMO) has been implicated in the deaths of thousands of Americans every year, mainly through accidental ingestion. In gaseous form, it can cause severe burns. And, according to a new report, "the dangers of this chemical do not end there."

After the raid, those Swift jobs “no one wants” have applicants lined up out the door

Published by Karl under Illegal immigration

The lesson here is painfully clear:  The notion that illegals do the jobs Americans won’t is pure fiction.  Want proof?

Look here:

Applicants line up to fill jobs left empty by Swift plant raid

GREELEY - The line of applicants hoping to fill jobs vacated by undocumented workers taken away by immigration agents at the Swift & Co. meat-processing plant earlier this week was out the door Thursday.

Apparently the other psuedo issue of requiring real ID is not an issue either:

Greg Bonifacio heard about the job openings on television and brought his passport, his Colorado driver’s license, his Social Security card and even a color photograph of himself as a young Naval officer to prove his military service.

"I don’t want to hassle with any identification problems because of my last name," said Bonifacio, a 59- year-old Thornton resident of Filipino heritage.

Has Swift learned anything?  Maybe…

As it turned out, the Colorado Workforce office that was taking applications did not require any identification.

That would come later for those who made it past the interview process.

Perhaps that is ok, as long as they actually follow up on it.

On the mixed reactions to the raid, one person said:

Like many others who had mixed emotions about the raid, Maxine Hernandez said she was upset that families were torn apart, but believes illegal immigrants should not get work using fake documents.

"I guess I’m in the middle," she said. "But I do think they should have planned (the raid) better so that innocent children wouldn’t be left behind."

Hernandez, who had gone to the employment office because her husband was there to apply for unemployment insurance, decided to apply for a job at Swift on a whim.

"My whole family used to work there. My mom, my aunt, uncles," she said. "I guess it sort of runs in our blood."

But the bottom line is that the illegals do not fill "a void" as much as people think, they are actually taking away jobs Americans and Legal Immigrants want, not providing an otherwise missing workforce.

War on Christmas- the English schools spoil Christmas and the bad hat in Long Island

Published by Karl under War on Christmas

The stories speak for themselves.

‘Santa Claus does not exist’ school tells stunned kids

A primary school has been accused of spoiling Christmas for pupils after a lesson telling them that Santa Claus does not exist.

Children as young as nine were told that only ’small children believe in Father Christmas’.

And yesterday their parents criticised teachers for taking the ‘magic’ out of the festive period.

The blunder came after the Year 5 pupils were given seasonal worksheets containing various festive classroom exercises.

One began by informing the children that ‘many small children believe in Father Christmas’.

It then went on to explain that thousands of letters sent by these children to Santa every year are actually answered by the Post Office.

Not content with the spolier, they then asked the kids to play grinch:

The youngsters were then asked to write a pretend letter from the Post Office to a child explaining why their requests for presents had been refused. (emphasis added)

One father-of-two, who asked not to be named, said: "My wife and I make a special effort to keep the belief in Santa in our daughter’s mind as we believe it adds to the magic of Christmas for her and her four-year-old brother.

"We even recall her shaking with excitement some years ago when sat at the bottom of our bed rummaging through her stocking.

"What gives the school the right to decide when children should know the truth about such a harmless matter when knowing the truth does take away that little bit of magic?"

"She’ll probably figure it out soon enough anyway, but we might have had one last Christmas without her knowing if it hadn’t been for the school."

That kinda sums it up for a lot of us.  The magic and the mystery.

The spoksman for the group that created the bah humbug lesson plan, Ebenezer Scrooge Ruth Merttens, defended the work:

She said: "I feel sorry for the teacher concerned.

"But we produce the worksheets and it is up to teachers how they use them in class."

IDIOTS!! Baby is sent through X-ray machine at LAX

Published by Karl under Idiots

How freaking stupid are people you ask?

Stupid enough to run their kid through the x-ray machine like it was carry on luggage.

You cannot make this crap up.

A woman going through security at Los Angeles International Airport put her month-old grandson into a plastic bin intended for carry-on items and slid it into an X-ray machine.

The early Saturday accident — bizarre but not unprecedented — caught airport workers by surprise, even though the security line was not busy at the time, officials said.

A screener watching the machine’s monitor immediately noticed the outline of a baby and pulled the bin backward on the conveyor belt.

The infant was taken to Centinela Hospital, where doctors determined that he had not received a dangerous dose of radiation.

Officials, who declined to release the 56-year-old woman’s name, said she spoke Spanish and apparently did not understand English.

She initially didn’t want the baby transported to a hospital, but security officials called paramedics and insisted that the child be examined by a doctor.

The grandmother and the child were subsequently allowed to board an Alaska Airlines flight to Mexico City.

Idiots.  Not just grandma, who thinks her grandson is a purse, but the damn staffers who should have been paying attention.

Stupid should hurt.

Whitehouse Press Corps clearly has no life as they dog Laura Bush over her skin cancer- Updated

Published by Karl under Idiots, MSM, Politics

UPDATED BELOW

H/T to Michelle Malkin on this who says:

I, for one, was glad to hear that the surgery to remove the skin cancer tumor from First Lady Laura Bush’s right shin in early November was successful.

My relief seems not to have been shared by female members of the White House press corps, who tried to instigate a David Gregory-style swarm and imitate their male WH press corps counterparts’ VP Cheney accidental shooting feeding frenzy. They are justifying their attacks on the grounds that somehow Mrs. Bush is obligated to become a public crusader for whatever ailments she suffers. Never mind that this is the same press corps that mocks the First Lady any time she expresses an opinion on health matters or any other policy matter.

You can watch the mob on the White House website, but reprinting the transcript really reveals how thoroughly pathetic and idiotic the self-parodying WH press corps has become.

So reading through the transcripts, I can’t say she is overstating much at all.

The briefing starts on important matters.  Bills, troop strength,  Iran.  The press dogged Tony on Iraq for a while (Helen Thomas naturally):

Q Why can you identify all the Iraqi resistance as terror?

MR. SNOW: I didn’t.

Q We are the occupiers, do you realize that? And do you realize what an occupation is?

MR. SNOW: Do you also realize — I do — I think people not only understand occupation, people in Iraq also understand –

Q Your broad brush everything.

MR. SNOW: And that was a precise characterization you just gave me?

Q I am saying that you –

MR. SNOW: No, you just used a broad brush on responding. If you wish to get into colloquialism, I’ll be happy to go along.

Q Do you think that people are resisting our occupation?

Reflections on the weather

Published by Karl under Personal

Last week we had some fun weather.  Just a little wind and rain.

Just a little.  60+ mph gusts.  Trees down everywhere,  I guess all those greenbelts that the cities insist on having have a consequence eh?  That’s irony for ya.  If we paved the forests we wouldn’t have trees taking out substations.

So when it was over, we lost Cable TV, then we lost electricity.  Then we lost our minds.

When the power went, so did everything fun.  No TV’s.  No DVDs.  No Espresso.  No Internet.

My god…no blogging.

Oh, no work either.  But on the other hand, no work is no paycheck.  No work and no pay makes Jack a homeless boy.

We had it easy really, we have a gas fireplace, a gas stove and a gas hotwater heater.  We could still function at a basic level.  A coworker woke up to a tree on her house.  We were spared that.

We stayed without power for 69 hours, almost to the minute.  Amazing how in 3 short days we fall apart.  We had company, initially over a million homes were out.

Not to be flippant, but it reminds me of a quote from a favorite movie of mine, which says "…that we really are the most desperate lot of under-achievers."  Never mind the context, the fact is that I felt practically useless during the windstorm and the subsequent power outage.

69 hours without electricity.  We had candles, and flashlights, but it was really difficult for us in some ways and it makes me wonder.  Are we that useless?  My god if Laura Ingalls could see us now…Are we that married to our technology?  Here we had hot running water, a warm fire place, and the ability to cook safely and yet we felt really primitive.

Shut down Costco for a few days and the world ends.

I also had to reflect on our relative luck.  People have died during this storm and the related outages.

It’s been 48 hours since our power was restored, and still some people I know are facing the real prospect of having a Christmas with no power.  That means 10 days plus without electricity.
