The problem is, I have seen more than one comment that a surge would have been effective...A YEAR AGO. More than one commentator said that this is what he should have been doing BEFORE things had gotten to where they are at. Now, there is question if a surge of 22,000 is enough to make the difference?
The Bush Administration seems to be the working definition of insanity. Keep doing the same thing repeatedly expecting different results.

How do you answer the fact that the Iraq study group recommended an initial surge, and all the democrats wanted him to adopt the ISG recommendations?

And if he had said "you have asked me for years to ramp up, and I finally see the wisdom of your ideas" would that make it better?

Plus, not all were 18 months ago. I just used Pelosi as the centerpiece.

The fact is that a lot of the democrats are anti Bush, so that makes them against his ideas.

You are trying to nail them for changing thier minds a year and a half LATER? Boy, when I have noted the fact that Bush opposed nation building before he was elected, but then changed his mind when it came to Iraq, I am told that their are circumstances that forced him to re-evaluate. But when a democrat changed position (or a Republican turns his back on a Bush supported policy) they are suddenly "traitors" and "liars". A lot happened between 2004 and 2007.
