Via Michelle Malkin, this is a sobering fact.

Since they have the leadership now, lets see some leadership. And being the first to run away does not count.

The actual fact, of course, is that the Democrats are the only ones proposing serious strategies for Iraq. They are proposing plans that will allow us to withdraw while minimizing the violence that will occur in the wake of a withdrawal. The Republicans refuse to come up with a serious strategy, and instead are focusing on the idea that we can achieve "victory." Since no serious person thinks we can "win" in Iraq (unless you really think "winning" is defined as "propping up the pro-Iranian Islamist client state Bush has installed in place of the anti-Islamist dictator Saddam"), the Republicans are simply playing out childish fantasies while leaving the serious work to Democrats. This is why Democrats are serious on national security and (most) Republicans aren’t; Democrats are planning for what we need to do (leave) while Republicans are planning for something that can only happen in their stupid video-game fantasies (victory).

Must be a new report. so far they offer nothing except poll driven sea changes and constant barrage of "whatever Bush wants we hate" proposals.

They are proposing plans that will allow us to withdraw while minimizing the violence that will occur in the wake of a withdrawal.

and in the process of that they are ignoring all the larger issues around the war, including what we leave behind, why we are there and what is at stake globally. All because stop the war feeds the nutroots anti war beliefs left over from vietnam

    Ridiculous.

    • While the republicans have disapponted me, there are those are serious and are making serious effortts
    • The idae that we can win is achieve victory is very reasonable, and the war is winnable- If we can stop the politicing and actually deal with the realities of war, which democrats are refusing to do.
    • The democrats have constantly flipped their positions and refused to offer any solution that did not embrace defeat, so explain how that is serious.

This is why Democrats are serious on national security and (most) Republicans aren’t; Democrats are planning for what we need to do (leave) while Republicans are planning for something that can only happen in their stupid video-game fantasies (victory).

The democrats are no more serious on national security then they are about border security which is not at all.

The idae that we can win is achieve victory is very reasonable, and the war is winnable- If we can stop the politicing and actually deal with the realities of war, which democrats are refusing to do.
The realities of war are that adding a dribble of additional troops to Baghdad will not change the fact that Iraqis hate each other, hate us, and want to kill each other and us. The idea that we can "win" assumes that we are fighting a particular enemy in Iraq, when in fact what’s happening is that Iraqis are fighting each other. If Republicans were serious on national security, they’d understand this and try to find the safest way to withdraw. Instead they’re being whiny crybabies, unwilling to admit that Bush lost this war. That’s why all the serious plans are coming from Democrats.

The democrat plan is either run away quickly or run away slowly.

Both ideas encourage the fighting because the enemy now knows we dont have the stamina to finish the fight. Reral good ideas. I you have seen other plans, lets hear them.

The war is being lost in the media because the media will not show the good things, the victories in Iraq, they focus on the bad and dishearten people.

Stablizing Baghdad is the most important idea so far, and with the troops surge along with a change in tactics is doable.

Here it is in a nutshell…A republican and a democrat are walking down the sidewalk. Suddenly a Muslim terrorist shouts "Alahu Akbar!" and attacks them both. The republican jumps into action and starts fighting the terrorist. The democrat just stands there, yelling at the republican that he’s doing it wrong. For four years. Eventually the democrat gets fed up with being ignored by the republican and starts restraining him from fighting the terrorist. Then, while the democrat pats himself on the back for his bold action, the terrorist kills them both.

Actually the situation in Iraq is much worse than the media reports — stuck in the Green Zone, they can only report a fraction of the horrors that take place every day.If you really think that great things are happening in Iraq, you’re a psychopath. We turned Iraq from a bad dictatorship into a genuine hell on earth, and we owe the Iraqis an apology for that. Bush also owes us all an apology for ignoring the threat of terrorism and instead focusing all our time and attention on Saddam, a secular anti-Islamist dictator who was the enemy of the Islamist terrorists. That’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans: Democrats want to fight terrorists; Repoublicans want to stay in Iraq forever.

This again proves you dont not understand the realities in Iraq which is that the majority of the country is rebuilding and most of the violence is concentrated in Baghdad and a few other cities.

And you poo poo the effort to stablize Baghdad, when that is where they need it the most.

You claim he reporters dont come out of the green zone. Indeed, otherwise they would see entire communities quite happy with the work we are doing.

Yes there are bad places. But you want to leave those to the wolves.

    How kind of you.

Democrats fight the terrorists? Once again show me one solid plan they have to do anything.

John Kerry campaigned for a year claiming to have a plan for victory in Iraq. Trouble is he never bothered to say what it was, and neither has any other prominent Democrat. All they want isn the opposite of anything the Republicans want.

That is how you win elections, not wars.

most of the violence is concentrated in Baghdad and a few other cities. That is, most of the places where most of the Iraqis live.Again, I repeat: the situation in Iraq is much worse than the MSM reports. Iraq is now much, much worse off than it was even under Saddam’s reign of terror. Do you feel no shame in having supported and cheered on what we did to Iraq?

Europe was not very pleasant during World War 2, should we have stayed home?

More people were killed in a few hours at Normandy Beach on D-day then in the last 3+ years in iraq.

    Should we have stayed home?

Iraq wasn’t comparable to WWII. We’ve made the potential threat that didn’t exist suddenly very real. Bravo to the President. We cannot leave, I don’t disagree. Iraq has become the possible threat to America it never was under Saddam. On the other hand, I wish Bush would have committed subsantially more troops, because this current surge plan isn’t very inspiring.
