Obama tastes shoe leather- Soldiers death are lives wasted
Allahpundit at Hot Air, for whom I thank for the clip, sums it up thusly:
Now we know for sure he’s not the messiah. The messiah doesn’t make mistakes.
Note this is a reference to the status of near divinity that so many in the media have given the Obama-nator.
Of course he thinks their lives were wasted. Everyone on the anti-war side does; that’s one of the reasons they want to end the war.
I would rather say it is one of the excuses they use to say why war is bad. Sometimes there are causes worth lives. Go to Normandy Beach and look around.
But they can’t say that because it dishonors the dead so they’re forced into rhetorical pretzels like the one Pelosi tied herself into a few weeks ago with Diane Sawyer. Army Lawyer summed up her position at the time thusly: “They didn’t die for nothing, they died for something stupid.”
Pretty much. To say that the soldiers died for nothing, that their deaths were wasted is to attempt to indict the Bush administration as having sent them on a fools task, and that *should* resonate with those poor dumb ignorant soldiers. Typical elitist hubris. The poor troops do not know any better.
The problem with that is that the soldiers who deal with it in their face daily actually believe in what they do. They see the shape of the battle, and they know the enemy.
What they don’t believe in is the democratic politicians empty claims of supporting the troops.
Are all those lives wasted? Not yet, but if the left has their way and they end this war in a crushing surrender and defeat, then yes they will have been wasted by the chicken hearted anti war idiots who cannot see the larger issues in their haste to equate this to Vietnam and surrender as quickly as possible,
