This is outstanding. The surprise is it was produced by the BBC, which is government owned and socialist.

What’s not a surprise is the poll results on the site. Give people the facts and they still ignore them.

Only 14% of the people that visited the site and voted in the poll believe that human emmissions of CO2 are not the primary cause of global warming, despite the evidence presented on the site.

66% believe that we MUST cut CO2 emmissions now, whether there’s any evidence that it would do any good or not.

Clearly facts mean little or nothing to liberals.

Well with all the tension there is about climate change, who knows how or what the agenda will be used for. It is my opinion that industry’s still need to account for their pollution. The effects on the environment can be seen quite evidently at mankinds hand, from C02 to pesticides to and big industry in general. These environmental issues should still not be forgotten.

For us german climate sceptics it’s a great thing, to see and use this video. But as here was mentioned - people ignore the facts. Our most crazy liars in eco-terroristic politics and junk science will win all the debates. And our merkelized medias give all the help they can to make all deceits bigger.

Pay a tax, change the weather. I don’t think so. Humans account for only 3 percent of the carbon dioxide released into the biosphere annually (Google: carbon cycle). Congresswoman Pelosi’s and Senator Reid’s plans for regressive new carbon offset and green tax legislation are designed in concert with UN and Kyoto Accord mandates. The goal is to reduce human CO2 production by 1/3. How high would new carbon offset taxes on transportation and heating fuels need to be to motivate you and everyone else to cut back by 1/3? At best that level of taxation will reduce annual CO2 production by a mere 1 percent globally. Not much mitigation or hope there. Certainly 1% is not enough to make a difference in the perceived problem of anthropogenic (human) global warming gases. The impact of such draconian tax measures can only be imagined. However, it does beg the question, “If humans can’t really be expected to make much of an impact on global warming gases, how can they possibly be blamed for warming in the first place?” Why are people compelled by politicians and the media to feel responsible and guilty for causing global warming? For the answers, Google “blame, shame and guilt used as political controls”, read “Unstoppable Global Warming” and “The Chilling Stars” for the scientific facts and “State of Fear” for the political dynamics behind this renewed eco-tax controversy. Those party faithful that think this debate is over are sorely mistaken. It’s a little late, but welcome to George Orwell’s “1984”. Watch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XttV2C6B8pU

CO2 a pollutant? It’s the gas that plants breathe, for all the second grade science dropouts. On the extreme side, if the Greens manage to completely eliminate this terrible “pollutant” from the atmosphere, all of the green things (and everything else) would die. Ironic, isn’t it?

  11. Bill Butleron 06 Apr 2007 at 11:26 am

The video was very popular among the “Don’t bother me with the facts - I’ve already made up my mind.” audience. However, the entire video/production is a fraud (including the qualifications of “the experts” - also documented at web page below) as has been publicized by newspapers in England.

I’ve put together a lot of info at http://www.durangobill.com/Swindle_Swindle.html
“The Great Global Warming Swindle” is itself a Fraud and a Swindle

Martin Durkin fans may be a “little dismayed”, but you should check out the evidence in the case - especially the “Durkin had intentionally sought out questionable sources and data” section. (The quote is from another source - not mine.)

  12. John R. Melkoon 09 Apr 2007 at 11:05 pm

Humans cause Global Warming! This is the “Scientific Consensus.” Not Scientific Fact. Not Scientific Law. Not Scientific Theory. It is merely Scientific Hypothesis. If you really get into this “Scientific Consensus,” you would probably find that long ago, it was human beings and CO2 that caused most of the planet to have a tropical or subtropical climate during the Age of Amphibians or the Time of the Dinosaurs. It was also, of course, mankind’s burning of fossil fuels which brought us out of the last Ice-Age.
What I want to know is where are the scientific tests that were conducted? Where is the Control Group (the group that is left alone to see if it would do the same thing anyway)? What experiments were conducted? How many times? A Theorem is a Hypothesis which can be proven repeatedly in scientific testing. Also, when testing against a control group you are only allowed to change one variable at a time to see what effect it has on anything. Where are the results of this testing? And don’t say, “Computer Model.” A computer model is only as good as the program it operates on and the data which is entered into said program. How many people have entered a wrong number into an EXCEL program and therefore come out with a wrong answer? How many people have entered the correct numbers and still come up with the wrong answers because of some glitch in the program? No glitches? Why the hell do you think they always come up with a “Patch” program to repair what they goofed on? The bottom line is that people are fallible. Therefore, it must be taken into account that anything created by people has a chance that it also is fallible (including what I’m writing at this very moment).
Science talks a lot about a Sphere of Knowledge. You can see it for yourself in a two dimensional format by drawing a circle on a piece of paper. Look at the circle and imagine that everything inside the circle is what we humans (scientists included) know to be true. The edge of the circle (the place where your writing implement touched the paper) is was we humans (scientists included) know that we do not know. These are the unanswered questions. (How does gravity actually work? Well, two pieces of matter are attracted to each other through gravity. They pull on each other. Okay. HOW? What are the scientific principles behind it? Why are positive and negative charges attracted to each other? North and South Poles? HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT MAKES IT SO? Etc.) Everything outside of the circle and not on the edge are the things that humans (scientists included) have no idea even exists. These are the questions we don’t know to ask. Now, what happens when you add some information to the circle (sphere) that wasn’t there before? It gets a little bigger. Hooray! But wait. The edge (surface) just got a little bigger too. Now we have more questions that we did before. Ask any scientist about the Sphere of Knowledge. They’ll tell you.
Back to the computer models. That area of unknown questions outside of the circle stretches to infinity in all directions. How does THAT play into their calculations?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying we shouldn’t try and clean up our act. I just think we need to be a little smarter about it. Any green plant life takes in CO2 and uses it in photosynthesis to make energy from sunlight. A by-product of this process is the very Oxygen that we need to live. Aerobic Respiration (what anything with working lungs does as a necessary part of life) is the use of Oxygen to break down certain food molecules (like Glucose) to use as energy. A NATURAL BY-PRODUCT OF THIS IS CARBON DIOXIDE! Everything on this planet that breathes air and has any kind of metabolism gives off a fairly decent amount of CO2. They include, but are not limited to, Spotted Owls, Humpback Whales, Mountain Gorillas, Bald Eagles, Field Mice, etc. CO2 also spews out of every active volcano on the planet (they really emit quite a bit).
Given all that, what’s next on the list of things to tax? How about Lance Armstrong? He puts out a lot more CO2 while huffing on his bike than I’m doing right now on this computer. Why stop with professional athletes? Tax the Health Nuts! All of that exercise and staying in shape for a good heart puts out a lot of CO2. Do you see my point?
As far as changing fuels goes, I’m all for it if it is truly clean and with similar performance. The problem with Ethanol is how much corn does it take to produce a single gallon of Ethanol? How much land does that corn need? How many gallons of gas do you, the reader, consume in a week? Or better yet, between corn harvests? Therefore, how much land would you, the reader, need to have cleared for corn growing in order to run your car on ethanol? (We are not even taking into account the fact that Ethanol does not perform as well as petroleum). By the way, how many plastic products (such as IV bags, pill containers and hard to break sippy cups for babies) are you willing to do without while you are using Ethanol. (Plastic is a by-product of oil refining. How many other oil based products would you be willing to do without?
In regard to alternative energy. What is the process for making a Solar Cell? How much energy does it take to create? What are the chemicals and materials used in its production? How long is it good for? What happens to it when it is no longer of use and how does that affect the environment? Now ask yourself the same questions about batteries. More specifically, rechargeable car batteries.
We can’t build dams because of the salmon and other fish. Wind power really doesn’t work that well unless you have fast fields of wind farms. What about Nuclear? Do I really need to go there? Ultimately, I’d like to see something done with Methane. It is a renewable resource (I renew some every time I eat beans). Dumps and ranches are loaded with it. When it burns, it produces CO2 (which we’ve already established is necessary for photosynthesis in plants. If you’re worried, turn your roof into a garden. It’ll save you money on you energy, too! Of course that solution also has its own problems) and H2O. That would actually be wonderful in places like Las Vegas. Water for plants other than Cacti and CO2 for them to thrive!

Weak and unconvincing and void of any hard science facts that distinctly point away from human causality! The sunspot info is hilariously misleading! It surprises me that the “fear” party isn’t latching onto an actual event to use and prey on people’s fears! It worked to get us into the illegal war in Irag -it will probably work to get us into a second illegal war in Iran. It is also a great source of amusement that you people want to blame Democrats for losing the war in Iraq -never mind that your war mongering president (he is certainly not my leader!!) has single handedly made the mideast as dangerous as it has been in modern history and made the situation untenable. But since the Democrats are pointing out the inconceivable blunder and lack of judgement and not giving the C student carte blanche to spend whatever he wants on this ILLEGAL war, the onus is suddenly on us. Why don’t you go pray to your forgiving, yet vengeful god and have him clear it all up -isn’t that your theory on how the universe works -despite not one shred of substantive logical evidence to support that fairytale….hmmmmmmm, maybe that’s your criteria for taking a position -it has to make no sense whatsoever -I get it now…..you’re simply all morons - of course!

  20. Karlon 25 May 2007 at 3:48 pm

    I have read it prreviously.

The director of course refutes it, and the experts on both sides are contradicting each other on most aspects of the data and evidence.

Thats why I continue to show it really.

The GW supporters do not have to answer their critics and they are allowed to continue their tirades with their evidence considered sacrosanct and untouchable.

I am presenting the other side of a contentious debate that should be open and above such presumptive tactics.

Al Gore gets his movie (which has experts complaining about its inaccuracies) shown everywhere, even as graduation requirements now.

Shouldn’t the other side get a fair shake?

Interesting. But one question: Why does the temperature charts used not include the last 20 years? This is a period when global temperature has soared, but this programme ignores that. The programme would have been accurate in 1983, but not in 2007.

  24. Charles Teasleyon 29 May 2007 at 11:21 am

I agree with the theme of this movie, but I think the best outcome of the Global Warming hype will be to get the West and China off of our oil addiction. That is one outcome that will be our greatest benefit, and not the end of the earth’s natural cycles like the global warming people want to stop.

  25. California residenton 05 Jun 2007 at 12:18 pm

The debunker’s feeble attempt to discredit authentic scientific data, even found outside of the video, should be ‘debunk the debunker’ and shown to be him/herself a blatent liar. You simply can not ignore natural history, and the phenominal impact the Sun has on our climate. It is infinitely larger than Earth and equally more powerful. While I agree that alternative energy is a good idea, making it a ‘green’ alternative is hard to do-and has still a huge negative impact on Earth while in the manufacturing process-and de-comissioning process. The Earth itself belches out ‘greenhouse gasses’ far greater than humans do. Volcanic activity and other natural decomposition processes also contribute as shown in the video-and other scientists not a part of the video, concur! What next? It’s the republicans fault? Democrats fault? God? Research scientific facts for yourself-and reveal the truth, pay close attention to the Earth’s records-both soil and ice, and by the way, did anyone listen to the views of scientists who also mention that the earthquake that that caused the catostophic tsunamis also threw the Earth off it’s axis, and caused a ‘wobble’-which also dramatically influences our weather??? Hmmm, ignorance is bliss???

“It is infinitely larger than Earth and equally more powerful.”

The Sun is an average sized star. Still, approximately a million Earths could fit inside its volume. It has enabled life (as well as ourselves) to exist on Earth.

“The Earth itself belches out ‘greenhouse gasses’ far greater than humans do.”

It’s not so much the amount each one produces, but it is the human-caused amount ADDED ON to the amount the Earth naturally produces. THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

“…did anyone listen to the views of scientists who also mention that the earthquake that that caused the catostophic tsunamis also threw the Earth off it’s axis, and caused a ‘wobble’-which also dramatically influences our weather???”

Yes…and NO, the earthquake and tsunamis were not significant enough to have any bearing on Global Climate Change.

The BBC is funded by the British Government, but it is not OWNED by it, and certainly it does not control it. The issue is moot anyway. The “Great Global Warming Swindle” is the work of Channel 4, the UK’s independent “arty” channel. It is NOT a BBC production.

  41. Darinon 06 Apr 2008 at 12:57 am

    For Bill Butler.

The supposed ‘debunking’ of swindle and your web page is most amusing. I find trouble with much of your charts and claims - how can you claim to be truthful when there is much more science and data to refute your pretty charts? Seems to me that your supposed ‘debunking’ page is semantics and finger pointing and questioning of personal credibility, curiously lacking of scientific evidence for counterpoint. To suggest that c02 levels have never been as high in history as they are now is a bold face lie!

Also the notion of all naysayers part of a oil company conspiracy is laughable. Al Gore, David Suzuki etc. also recieve grants from the fossil energy lobby as do many other organizations that promote global warming.

speaking of glaring scientific errors, Gore’s movie didn’t stand the test of truth in a British court when the scientific evidence was weighed and measured, therefore it can only be showed in public schools in Britain as a fictional movie as it should be. One must ask - where was the media saturation upon this court case result - barely a peep!

Bill Butler should use the same energy and verve to debunk Al Gores debaucle which is far easier to do as it is at least 1000 times less acurate than ’swindle’ is. Gores movie is so full of holes if it was swiss cheese there would be nothing but a package of air.

If people do not believe that the anthropogenic global warming lobby is a lying global dictatorship seeking monster than I invite people to do further research.

Hansen the AGW’s leading climate modeler has been proven a liar - google James Hansen liar

Dr. Naomi Oreske’s empirical report to the IPCC claiming the majority of scientists take the AGW stance to climate change is a fabricated fantasy that was taken to task by several different scientists who all came back with less than 5 % of scientists endorsing the AGW stance. google ‘the letter science magazine rejected’ Upon reviewing this information one has to ask themselves - is there a bigger more powerful agenda at hand here when proven science is thrown aside and ignored, meanwhile lies and deciet are published as gospel? Can you say ‘peer reviewed censorship’? Oreske’s report is lies and deciet to fufill an agenda.

The fact that C02 is plant food that comprises less than a half percent of our atmosphere to which less than 3 percent of that number is man’s doing ( the rest created naturally by the planet) doesn’t seem to faze these doomsday cult practitioners.

    Wake up sheeple.
