Fred Thompson on Libby and the Presidency

Published by Karl at 10:26 pm under republicans

Before I say anything else, it is important to remember that the present race for the Whitehouse in 2008 is beginning way early.  The democrats now jockeying for position and power need to remember that running early is a two edged sword, and the early results are notoriously fickle.

Ask Howard Dean who was the front runner with the nutroots support, then got his ass handed to him in the primary by the mainstream democrats.  Waiting till the field stagnates, which is likely Al Gore’s strategy, is bound to have its positive effects, as long as the candidate is strong.

That said, I hope Fred Thompson does not wait too long to decide if he will run.  Waiting too long has it’s own problems, the least of which is not having time to build momentum.

The candidates on the right are not horribly inspiring.  Gulianni offers a watered conservatism that is back by great leadership, but McCain still has trust issues.   Romney and the others don’t thrill me a bunch.

So I personally see former Senator Fred Thompson as the dark horse of the right who has the name recognition, the presence and values that would represent the right far better then anyone else and just plain good sense..

Here are two clips of Fred.  The first is him discussing the realities of the Scooter Libby debacle.  The second is a clip of his stances on many issues.

Watch and decide for yourself if he is credible.  He had my vote on his state’s rights stances.

I like Thompson, Tancredo is another one. I don’t like any of the front runners in the GOP.

But thats me… I could be screwed up hell I voted for Bush twice and he’s letting two border agents sit in jail for doing their job….(/Sarcasm)
