Robert Novak dissects the Plame hearings

Published by Karl under congress

I don’t like reposting full articles, but Novak nicely takes the hearings apart point by point and it would be a disservice to break it up.

Was Valerie Covert?

Republican Rep. Peter Hoekstra could hardly believe what he heard last Friday on television as he watched a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing. Rep. Henry Waxman, the Democratic committee chairman, said his statement had been approved by the CIA director, Gen. Michael Hayden. That included the assertion that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative when her identity was revealed.

As House Intelligence Committee chairman when Republicans still controlled Congress, Hoekstra had tried repeatedly to learn Plame’s status from the CIA but got only double talk from Langley. Waxman, the 67-year-old, 17-term congressman from Beverly Hills, may be a bully and a partisan. But he is no fool who would misrepresent the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI). Waxman was correctly quoting Hayden. But Hayden, in a conference with Hoekstra Wednesday, still did not answer whether Plame was covert under the terms of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act.

The former CIA employee’s status is critical to the attempted political rehabilitation of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson and his wife. The Democratic target always has been Karl Rove, President Bush’s principal adviser. The purpose of last week’s hearing was to blame Rove for “outing” Plame, in preparation for revoking his security clearance.

Claims of a White House plot became so discredited that Wilson was cut out of John Kerry’s presidential campaign by the summmer of 2004. Last week’s hearing attempted to revive a dormant issue. The glamorous Mrs. Wilson was depicted as the victim of White House machinations that aborted her career in secret intelligence.

Waxman and Democratic colleagues did not ask these pertinent questions: Had not Plame been outed years ago by a Soviet agent? Was she not on an administrative, not operational, traack at Langley? How could she be covert if, in public view, she drove to work each day at Langley? What about comments to me by then CIA spokesman Bill Harlow that Plame never would be given another foreign assignment? What about testimony to the FBI that her CIA employment was common knowledge in Washington?

And the Oscar goes to Al Gore for Best Performance as an Arrogant Prima Donna

Published by Karl under Democrats, Global Warming, gore

Al Gore apparently thinks he presides over the Senate.  At the very least he must be convinced from his rock star treatment elsewhere that he is special, which helps explain his outrageous behavior.

First he asks for an extended opening statement, which is granted.  Then instead of having his prepared remarks available  to the Committee 48 hours ahead of his testimony per normal rule, he asks for only 24 hours.  He actually delivers said statement about 2 minutes before his actual appearance which he was also late to, reportedly to avoid having to hear the Republicans opening statement.

No other person appearing before a Senate Committee would be greeted with so much awe, and be allowed such behavior as Al Gore.  He was even hailed as a prophet.  Ironic since he is determine to make a profit on the whole debacle.

Sister Toldjah made a nice suggestion for his seating arrangements:

Maybe in order to further accomodate Mr. Oscar-winner, they can provide him with two chairs to sit in. The  other one will be for his gigantic ego, which has proved to be much more of a pressing issue than ‘global warming.’

Heh.

The GOP members did go after him on the absurdity of his movie, but Al learned evasion and rationalization from the Master, Slick Willy, and had the Chair in his pocket.

Barbara Boxer even managed to made an unprofessionally snide dig at former Chairmen Sen Inhofe just for fun.

The highlight and money quote, however, was when Sen Inhofe asked The Great One to sign a Global Warming Personal Energy Pledge:

As a believer:

·        that human-caused global warming is a moral, ethical, and spiritual issue affecting our survival;

·        that home energy use is a key component of overall energy use;

·        that reducing my fossil fuel-based home energy usage will lead to lower greenhouse gas emissions; and

·        that leaders on moral issues should lead by example;

Portland Liberals hate the troops

Published by Karl under Idiots, Liberals, Military

Update:  Since I have been getting email saying these are just a few wackos and anarchists, go to this link and see an awesome link round up of the fringe actors.

http://hotair.com/archives/2007/03/22/a-few-fringe-actors/

Pay particular heed to this link in particular:

http://conprotantor.blogspot.com/2007/03/vets-vs-moonbats-part-4.html

See the liberals tear a flag from a ladies hand and rip itto pieces.  See him laugh.  See Ramsey Clark, a noted liberal address the crowd.  How fringe is that?   See the darling of the moonbats, Cundy Sheehan.

And see the complete lack of Democrat leadership condemnation for the outrageous acts.

***

I mentioned this in passing last night, but today here are the photos that sparked my anger, that of some gutless liberals burning a US soldier in effigy.

But as you will see in this next one taken from the same place, the liberals had to make this an educational moment for the next generation.

Great place for the kiddies to be.

Similar effigies were seen in Arizona as well.

And apparently liberals have a slightly differing view of patriotism.

Honestly…And the worst is for last:

Why the masks?  Ashamed of something?  You ought to be.

Support the troops sure means something different in Liberaleese

It’s a Democrat eat Democrat campaign for Hillary and Obama

Published by Karl under hillary

Hillary has rested safe in NY knowing that she would be the Democrats darling in 2008.  Watching Kerry blunder in 2004 must have really hurt, but at the time Bush’s numbers were too good for her launch the scheme she has had hiding in her carpetbag for God knows how long.

Her scheme is obvious, to make history as not only the first woman president but the first president to be spouse of a former president.

She had it all planned out, the moderate stance to hide her leftist socialist agendas, the carefully poised role as forgiving wife to Bill’s indiscretions and the money…all that lovely money piling up in her war chest.

Edwards and Kerry were possible rivals, but no one takes Edwards seriously, and he has imploded early, and Kerry bailed.  Al Gore and his Global Warming fueled scam was her toughest contender…or so she thought.

She didn’t count on Obama.  Obama has replaced her as the darling of Hollywood, the Obama Messiah.  People like David Geffen not only embrace the Obamanator, they are actually trash talking Hillary.  Geffen who spent millions on the Clinton’s during Bill’s day called her essentially a pathological liar.

He has stayed one step ahead of her from the word go.

And so Obama has roared into the race, breathing fire and rhetoric.  And Hillary has been playing catch up, following him to Selma to try and out lie him (he won) and faking the worst phony accent since Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Maybe she saw him as a contender to be groomed for her number two man.  It is logistically sound, a woman and a black man teaming up nail enough minorities to make it a tough ticket to fight, unless Condi links up with Gulianni.

But she didn’t count on him actually wanting to win as well as his popularity and the amount of loyalty to him directly.

Take this video for example:
