He’s a lousy politician and a joke of a candidate, but he has GREAT hair
Some days, I swear, the politicians make our job too easy. Such is the case of John “Silky Pony” Edwards, erstwhile presidential candidate and Breck model.
Let’s round it up, shall we?

Looking pretty is costing John Edwards’ presidential campaign a lot of pennies. The Democrat’s campaign committee picked up the tab for two haircuts at $400 each by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva of Beverly Hills, Calif., according to a financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission.
FEC records show Edwards also availed himself of $250 in services from a trendy salon and spa in Dubuque, Iowa, and $225 in services from the Pink Sapphire in Manchester, N.H., which is described on its Web site as “a unique boutique for the mind, body and face” that caters mostly to women.
A spokeswoman for Edwards’ campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
Well honestly, what can you say? This guy spent more money on one haircut then many people make in a full weeks work, and they expect he will appeal to the regular folks?
Sister Toldjah continues the expose:
John Edwards: Putting the “man” in manicure?
Yesterday, I blogged about Ben Smith’s scoop on presidential wannabe Democrat John Edwards’ tab for a haircut: $400 on at least two different occasions, courtesy of a Hollywood stylist. In one month. Also mentioned in Smith’s scoop were visits Edwards had made to two other salons, but no dollar amount for services was given.
Today, the AP reported on the costs of those other salon visits and it looks like Mr. He Feels Pretty didn’t skimp on those salon visits either:
…
The only thing I can think of is that maybe the former Senator from NC (ugh) had some other salon services performed, like perhaps a manicure, or facial, or purchased some haircare products …
Sure, how can the leader of the free world perform his august duties with a hangnail for crying out loud? Have some sensitivity. This is the era of the metrosexual for sure.
Well it seems his campaign is kinda cringing at the fact that John has dropped 1200 bucks or so on personal grooming.
Edwards Reimburses Campaign for Haircuts
Democrat John Edwards is trying to get out of a hairy situation, reimbursing his presidential campaign $800 for two visits with a Beverly Hills stylist.
Two $400 cuts by stylist Joseph Torrenueva, who told The Associated Press that the former North Carolina senator is a longtime client, showed up on Edwards’ campaign spending reports filed this weekend. Edwards spokesman Eric Schultz said it never should have been there.
“The bill was sent to the campaign. It was inadvertently paid,” Schultz said. “John Edwards will be reimbursing the campaign.”
Edwards is also the subject of a popular YouTube spoof poking fun at his youthful good looks. The video shows the candidate combing his tresses to the dubbed-in tune of “I Feel Pretty.”
Federal Election Commission records show Edwards’ campaign also spent $250 in services from Designworks Salon in Dubuque, Iowa, and $225 in services from the Pink Sapphire in Manchester, N.H.
Schultz said those services were legitimate campaign expenditures to prepare Edwards for media appearances.
Yes, no unibrow or razor stubble or anything…I would pay good money for a list of the services rendered.
Political candidates often have hair and makeup done before media appearances. Edwards rival Hillary Rodham Clinton got some attention last year when her campaign paid $2,500 for two hairstyling sessions that the campaign classified as media production expenses.
2500 bucks to make Hillary pretty?
Oh God, the oneliners…the jokes…must not give in to temptation.
As I said, some days they make it too damn easy.
To close with an oldie from the 2004 campaign, John shows that great hair is a serious business.
