More observations from the road
Tomorrow my brief road trip comes to an end. I meant to do a daily diary, but best intentions and all that, i never did.
So here is a recap.
Thursday I flew in to Sacramento, and headed south to my sister’s house in Tracy. I stopped along the way to look in on an old friend in Manteca, the wife of a guy I was stationed with at Travis. I spent some time chatting, oohing and ahing over her new grandbaby and played with her cats.
I arrived In Tracy and drove downtown to Sue’s shop.
In the heart of the downtown area, she combined two businesses: A craft/gift store, and a custom framing store, and now is opening Jo’s and KC’s.
A nice place really, and honestly yet another testimony to my sister’s business sense and hard work.
Friday morning, I went early to Sue’s shop, then in the afternoon, I headed to Vallejo, where an old high school friend’s son fixed me the best fettuccine and clams i have ever had.
Catching up on the high school days was nice.
Saturday the grand opening loomed. The day downtown was wonderful, warm but not hot. Tracy was holding a farmers market, so Sue picked a great day for her opening. Below is the street fair, and her grand opening.
I love small town street fairs and markets. One of the highlights of this one was a very good blues team, The Black Diamond Band. I love local music, and the blues in general, and these two guys played their hearts out for the crowd.
Later that afternoon I met up with one of my closest friends from high school, Jim, and his wife, Peggy.
Once again I am amazed at how so much time can pass, and yet some relationships just seem to endure anyway.
