Local Memorial Day outrage: Is this anti war idiots or just idiots?

Published by Karl at 12:27 am under Uncategorized

I saw this on news tonight, and Michelle Malkin beat me to it tonight.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070529/ap_on_re_us/flag_vandalism

Vandals burned dozens of small American flags that decorated veterans’ graves for Memorial Day and replaced many of them with hand-drawn swastikas, authorities said Monday.

Forty-six flag standards were found empty and another 33 flags were in charred tatters Sunday in the cemetery, authorities said. Swastikas drawn on paper appeared where 14 of the flags had been.

Members of the American Legion on this island off Washington’s northwest coast replaced the burned flags with new ones Sunday afternoon.

The vandals struck again on Memorial Day after a guard left at dawn, the San Juan County sheriff’s office said. This time, the vandals left 33 of the hand-drawn swastikas.

“This is not an act of free speech. This is a crime,” Sheriff Bill Cumming said in a statement released Monday afternoon.

Investigators believe there’s more than one culprit, based on the number of flags that were vandalized, Cumming said in a telephone interview. But authorities have no suspects, he said.

The sheriff said deputies were trying to lift fingerprints off what little physical evidence they were able to recover.

I am not quite prepared to demonize the anti war movement.  Since no one has taken responsibility, this is as easily the act if stupid disrespectful kids.

But it does point to the complete lack of common decency and respect that just a generation ago would have been completely unheard of.

Let me make it easy.

This is respect (source ST):

This is not:

Any questions?

Maybe such outrages always have happened, as stupid people have always existed.  Maybe I am too sensitive as this was Memorial Day and I am a very strong proponent of the military.

Maybe.

Maybe I just know stupidity and ignorance when I see it.  I hope to hell that I see some outrage from the left.

It’s just plain disrespect no matter whether it was the anti-war left, or stupid kids. It’s also an outrage and a desecration.

Whoever is responsible should be forced to do community service cleaning and maintaining military cemeteries for a while.

Maybe we are not sensitive enough, the above fits right in with the purple heart vet who was Boo’d and Called a Baby killer because he marched in a 4th of July parade a couple of years ago with a Bush Sign and the harassment of the mother of the 1000th soldier to die when she showed up at what she thought was a Memorial Service.

Two guesses as to what it was instead of a Memorial to Fallen Soldiers?

I didn’t use topics back then so I had to google my own post LOL

    here is the link

Recall what happened to the Mother of the 1000th soldier to die?

I am bumping this up because I am starting a 4 day 4th of July weekend, and I remembered what happened to at least one of our GIs in a 4th of July Parade last year.

We need to be thinking and looking for incidents like this, not that I wish them to occur but I sure want to condemn them when and if they do.

Support the troops, despite a hatred for Bush?
Not that crowd of two faced hypocrits!

Now that the Peace(?) activists are gearing up for their 2000th fatality vigil, it might not be a bad idea for me to bring forward what happened when they celebratred the 1000th Soldier to die,

    Or rather

WHAT THEY DID TO HIS MOTHER.

Recall what happened to the Mother of the 1000th…

It looks like it is the time of the year again to keep and eye out for attacks on our Military Forces and their Families not by enemies foreign, but domestic. At least it seems so, given the recent news in “This is not an act of free speech. This i….

    Thanks for all the comments.

As I said I wager this is student kids as opposed to stupid liberals, but I will still be interested to see how the liberals react.

Sometimes what is not said is more telling then what is.

I can’t say this would surprise me if it was a student at some high school.

Unfortunately it’s become a joke among young adults to make jokes about swastikas and nazis. It’s like the horror those two words brought to so many has become a laughingstock to students nowadays.

Everyday I hear nazi jokes from students who think it’s cool.

Free speech has become it’s own enemy. Now, it’s perfectly alright to harass people, to lie, to do horrible things to those in mourning, because if you dare tell them off, then it’s ‘Call in the lawyers, I’m being oppressed!’

    Boohoohoo.

I wish people would stop whining and screaming and howling about their rights and remember the rights of the people they’re hurting.

This isn’t a period of civil rights or anything anymore. It’s become the period of hipocrisy.

And this is a perfect example of so.

Who wants to to bet whoever did this will hire some swanky lawyer and get off with the free speech/free expression argument?
