Nifong faces ethics charges…finally

Published by Karl under OTA, justice?

I mean that.  From the get go this whole Duke Lacrosse players case was a sham.

We are supposed to have a system that requires justice to be dispassionate and impartial, where justice is the only reward.

Instead, Nifong stoked the flames of racism in his handling of this case, and it can only appear to be for the purpose of reelection.

And it worked.

But now he has had the case dismissed with prejudice and he faces severe ethics charges over his mishandling.

Police: Nifong Moved Forward With Case, Despite Problems

Mike Nifong acknowledged inconsistencies in an exotic dancer’s story that she was raped, beaten and sexually assaulted at a Duke lacrosse team party but decided to move forward with the case anyway, the lead investigator on the case testified Tuesday.

Inconsistencies is an understatement.

Nifong also insisted pressing ahead on indicting lacrosse player Reade Seligmann, even though detectives could not place him at the party at the time of the alleged incident, he testified.

Paris Hilton finds God in the midst of her life changing ordeal.

Published by Karl under hollywierd

Let me preface this by saying flat out, and Straight Up, that when I seriously consider this issue,  all I really hope is that somehow Paris comes out of this experience more mature and more responsible then when she went into it.  Her parents would likely be horrified at a mature, responsible and serious Paris, but the world would welcome her with open arms.

I think it is a pathetic state of affairs that her family and her fans have so enabled her to become so functionally worthless that a few days alone in a cell reduces her to a trembling wreck.  Be clear.  She was created in this image.

If somehow this bestows a sense of responsibility into her, I will applaud.  She has an estate worth 50 million or so, and I think she could do as much good in this world as anyone else, if she could pull her pony tail out of her butt and grow up.

That said, it is hard to take this seriously:

Global warming round up: Mountains of lies, Denver goes ballistic and it’s raining cats and dogs…well at least cats

Published by Karl under Global Warming, OTA

One of Al Gore’s favorite tactics is showing graphical heart rending examples of how global warming is ruining the world.  The Polar Bears drowning has been previously debunked, and now another one of his tragic examples is laid open to debate as to its accuracy.

In his movie he claims, and shows pictures to validate his claim, that Mt Kilimanjaro’s ice cap is melting and will disappear within 15 years.  A scary pronouncement indeed, except it has a slight problem:

Most of the melting happened prior to 1953, and has been happening for more than a century.

The woes of Kilimanjaro: Don’t blame global warming

The “snows” of Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro inspired the title of an iconic American short story, but now its dwindling icecap is being cited as proof for human-induced global warming.

However, two researchers writing in the July-August edition of American Scientist magazine say global warming has nothing to do with the decline of Kilimanjaro’s ice, and using the mountain in northern Tanzania as a “poster child” for climate change is simply inaccurate.
