I Blog for Fred- Free Swag!

Published by Karl under Fred!

Reposted from Blogs for Fred.  I would have blogged for him without the swag, but what the heck:

Do you blog for Fred? Here’s your free swag

If you have a blog, now is the time to join our growing coalition of savvy bloggers who believe Fred Dalton Thompson is the right choice for president of the United States. Blogs for Fred has teamed up with The Fred Store to encourage FDT supporters in the blogosphere, and to launch their store, they’ve given bloggers a pretty sweet deal.

For a limited time, if you add your blog to the Blogs for Fred blogroll, our friends at The Fred Store will send you a FREE (shipping included!) coffee mug and bumper sticker that says “I Blog for Fred.”

I Blog for Fred gear

Here’s how it works: when you add your blog, the editors here at Blogs for Fred will send you an email containing a code which you can use at The Fred Store to get your free items. Be sure to check out the rest of their store while you’re there. These guys are serious about getting Fred Thompson elected, and they know that bloggers play a key role. They’re giving us a really generous deal, so we encourage you to write about them, link to them and get to know them.

Add your blog today, and send this offer around the “Fredosphere.” (If you’ve already added your blog, you’ve been grandfathered in, so look for your code soon!)

The Jena 6

Published by Karl under OTA, racism

I don’t typically jump on bandwagons.  The problem is that there are too many scams, frauds, hoaxes and selfish causes.   And when you get into racial issues, the liberal race bait so much that it is easy to be skeptical.

But sometimes there are issues that are clearly unjust and deserve some attention.   This one is shaping up to be one of those.

The basic issue is a small town in Louisiana where “stealth racism” seems to be the rule.  I would have, in my normal cynicism, expected this to be a Sharpton style ruse, but the more I read the more concerned I get.

At the center are 6 boys, all black, who were charged with attempted 2nd degree murder.  One has gone to trial and was convicted, but his charge was reduced to aggravated battery.  He faces 22 years in jail.

What makes this shaky is that his charge requires a deadly weapon.  His weapon:  Tennis Shoes.  He was also convicted by an all white jury, and his public defender called no witnesses in his defense.

At the least this seems like a miscarriage of justice, and the economic status of the kid might have been the biggest factor, except there is a history racism in the town and a series of racially charged incidents.

See this blog for a great round up of info.

I also will post an article from the Seattle PI that I read today  that makes a compelling case.

I don’t see eye to eye with the PI, it’s liberal bias is well known, but I have to say that if this article is accurate, this stinks.

No one can seriously argue that racism in America is dead.  We all know that it exists.  What has changed is that most Americans find it unacceptable and want it exposed and defeated.

I think the allegations made in this story more then justify intervention and investigation.
