Truther faces the truth: He is an Army deserter
You would think he would have been nailed long before. He was active constantly in his never ending quest to convince people his wild theories are true, did it never occur to him that his own truth would be exposed?
The story comes from Newsbusters and Hot Air, via Orbusmax:
An Oneonta man who helped produce a 9/11 conspiracy documentary that became an Internet hit was arrested Monday for allegedly deserting the Army.
Korey Rowe, 24, a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, was picked up by deputies at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin Jr. said.
Rowe was arrested on a “military warrant” that Devlin said was brought to the attention of deputies by the Oneonta Police Department, who received information from a source outside of that department.
Rowe previously told The Daily Star he enlisted in August 2001. He left the Army in June 2005, according to the Louder Than Words website.
He seems to have not shared how and why he left.
The Associated Press reported last month that deserters are rarely court-martialed by the Army.
Although 3,301 soldiers deserted in the 2006 fiscal year, there were just 174 troops court-martialed.
The AP report said some deserters are returned to their units, while others are discharged in non-criminal proceedings.
It isn’t like the Army cared, really.
Desertion rates have been rising since 2004, but the Army does little to seek out deserters and instead relies on a database that can be cross-checked by local law-enforcement agencies during encounters such as traffic stops, the report states.
The Department of Defense public-affairs office did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.
Of course the innuendo will be that he was grabbed for underhanded reasons.
A woman who answered Rowe’s cell phone Tuesday and identified herself only as Kristy said Rowe was “taken” from a house Monday night.
The Louder Than Words website lists a Kristy Kissner as an administrative assistant for the group.
“All we know is that he has been arrested,” the woman said. “We know nothing. We just hope that whatever happened comes out.”
Because…
In media interviews, Rowe has criticized the Iraq war and the Bush administration.
Desertion is defined under Article 85 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice as being when a soldier leaves his or her unit or place of duty with the intent to remain away from there permanently or quits his or her unit with the intent to avoid hazardous duty. It is considered a felony.
And an act of cowardice.
If the Army works this as usual he will not face any harsh penalties, though many will argue he should.
Whether he does or not, expect the coming weeks to be filled with allegations of harassment, censorship and oppression.
All because the little deserter didn’t know how to hide. Honestly, did he not expect to get noticed?
A fool for his idiotic conspiracy theories, he is doubly foolish now.

I’d be among those that would argue that he should face the stiffest possible penalties, but I’m willing to accept any penalty, as long as there is one.
I also think the Army ought to do more to catch deserters. There was a time when the Army hunted them down.
At the same time I don’t think deserters should be returned to combat units. I’d be afraid they would panic at exactly the wrong moment, leading to harm to people that aren’t cowards.
Yeah, coward. I’m a deserter right now. Served in Iraq once. Had orders to deploy again when my mother passed away. Inherited just a tad over a million dollars and being an only child, with no dependants myself, deceided to walk. Asked my command for an admin discharge or a deferrment/deletion more than two months before I had to report to my mob station. Got ignored like always.Yeah, let me get blown up for a bunch of people (Iraqi’s) who, for the most part, want us out of their country. They want their civil war and we are preventing them from having it. Politics not withstanding, risking that kind of financial freedom for a bunch of malcontents? I don’t think so. I look at it this way…. Go to Iraq, take a chance on dying and not seeing one red cent of the money my mother worked so hard to provide for me. ORRRRR take off, with the only negative being I’d have to serve in a civilian jail for about a week and then a military jail for a month. Hmm, let’s see now. Which would you choose?
