911 derangement, with one reversal

Published by Karl at 2:41 am under 9/11, OTA

So as another 9/11 passes us, here is a final round of 9/11 related stories.  The last one is the one I am the happiest about.

RELIGION OF PEACE: We’ll cut off head of ‘prostitute’ Britney Spears

Terrorists: We’ll cut off head of ‘prostitute’ Britney Spears.  Madonna also targeted by jihad leaders who warn of ’spreading satanic culture’

Well here the Islamics might actually find common ground with some Christian fundamentalists, though I personally doubt the Moral Majority would resort to beheading.

The threats, recorded on audio, come as Madonna is due to arrive in Israel Wednesday to celebrate the Jewish new year with fellow Kabbalah practitioners.

“If I meet these whores I will have the honor – I repeat, I will have the honor – to be the first one to cut the heads off Madonna and Britney Spears if they will keep spreading their satanic culture against Islam,” said Muhammad Abdel-Al, spokesman and senior leader of the Popular Resistance Committees terror organization.

Thus speaks the Religion of Peace.

Al-Qaeda to release third 9/11 video

Al-Qaeda will release a third video marking the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, this time showing its top leader in Afghanistan, US monitoring groups said Wednesday.

After releasing two videos featuring Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in recent days, the terror network will now show a video “presenting reasons and motives for the attacks on New York and Washington,” the SITE Intelligence Group said in a press release.

The new video will show Al-Qaeda’s chief in Afghanistan, Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid, also known as Sheikh Said, said SITE, which monitors Islamic extremist websites.

Considering the first one has been shown to be faked, or at least manipulated, I wonder what this one will contain?

Kucinich Stands Alone Opposed to Sept. 11 Resolution

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Democratic presidential candidate and no stranger to contrarian views, was the sole congressman Tuesday to vote against the House’s Sept. 11 commemoration resolution.

Tuesday’s nonbinding resolution was a relatively short document. It had 12 “whereas” clauses — stating things like what happened the day of the terrorist attacks, who was affected and how terrorists have been targeted since then — and six resolution paragraphs establishing Sept. 11 as a day of remembrance, extending sympathies to families of victims who died and honoring those who have fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“It is important that Congress wake up to the truth and exercise its obligation under the Constitution to save our nation from being destroyed from the lies that took us into Iraq, the lies that keep us there, the lies that are being used to set the stage for war against Iran and the lies that have undermined our basic civil liberties here at home,” Kucinich said in a statement.

“The September 11 resolution that Congress considers today should have made reference to those matters. It does not, so I cannot support it,” Kucinich said, also calling for a halt for further war funding and the troops to be brought home.

Fool.  What is the bad part of offering a Nation’s condolence to the families of the innocent people slain 6 years ago?  Such an act should be second nature to a prospective president.  He never really impressed me, but this to me seals his fate.

Good news for the 911 truthers.  They now have a ally, and a world leader at that.

Castro says U.S. fooled world over 9/11

Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro said the U.S. government misinformed Americans and the world about 9/11, echoing conspiracy theories about the terror attacks against the United States six years ago.

In an essay read by a Cuban television presenter on Tuesday night, Castro said the Pentagon was hit by a rocket, not a plane, because no traces were found of its passengers.

“Today one knows there was deliberate misinformation,” wrote Castro, who has not appeared in public since July of 2006 when life-threatening surgery for a secret illness forced him to hand over power to his brother Raul Castro

“Studying the impact of planes, similar to those that hit the Twin Towers, that had accidentally fallen on densely populated cities, one concludes that it was not a plane that crashed into the Pentagon,” Castro said.

“Only a projectile could have caused the geometrically round hole that allegedly was made by the plane,” he said.

“We were fooled like the rest of the planet’s inhabitants,” he wrote.

Fidel has been sipping on Rosie’s Kool Aid.

Locally a couple of our own leaders had this to say:

Video: 9/11 was a “failure of human understanding,” says Mass. governor; Update: “[W]e are all part of the same human story,” says NY governor

Thanks to Radio Equalizer for this. Here’s Mitt’s successor, Deval Patrick, transparently ducking the hard lessons of 9/11 by generalizing the attacks to a point of such pure, “tolerant” abstraction as to make what he says both totally indisputable and totally meaningless. Quote:

“Among many other things, 9/11 was a failure of human understanding,” Patrick said. “It was a mean and nasty and bitter attack on the United States. But it was also a failure of human beings to understand each other, to learn to love each other.”

I think the point he misses is that by trying to soften or dilute this to such a low level it relives them of the responsibility of the attack.  Hot Air continues:

He’s right, 9/11 was a failure of understanding. So was the argument I had with the barista the other day at Starbucks when he gave me the wrong change. So was, and ever will be, every conflict, large or small, between human beings until the end of time. If you can’t distill anything more concrete about the attacks than the lesson plan for day one of Psych 101, I dare say it’s time to hire a new speechwriter. Which is not to say I’m accusing Patrick’s staff of being stupid; they understand the lessons well enough, they’re just afraid to say anything that might “offend” the perpetually aggrieved. Hence this oatmeal, which tacitly blames Americans as much as it does Osama for the circumstances that led to people nosediving off the top of the Trade Center that morning.

And finally this story from Britain.

BBC Tells Kids U.S. Brought 9/11 on Itself

The BBC decided to set up a website explaining 911 to kids. They have several sections set up to help the kids out on understanding the war on terror the BBC way. In one section they ask, Why Did They Do It? Guess who gets the blame?

The way America has got involved in conflicts in regions like the Middle East has made some people very angry, including a group called al-Qaeda - who are widely thought to have been behind the attacks.

In the past, al-Qaeda leaders have declared a holy war - called a jihad - against the US. As part of this jihad, al-Qaeda members believe attacking US targets is something they should do.

When the attacks happened in 2001, there were a number of US troops in a country called Saudi Arabia, and the leader of al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, said he wanted them to leave.

Thats right! It is the U.S. fault! We offended the world! Read the whole thing and watch your blood boil. Not a single word condemning Al Qeada in the whole thing. In fact it defends them in non judgmental terms. As your blood pressure rises keep in mind this is aimed towards children. Hopefully your head doesn’t explode!

Yep.  the US was essentially just a slutty college girl in a mini skirt who drank too much in a sports bar and got raped.  The outcry on this was huge, I received several blogger alerts about it.

And the response was gratifying:

BBC Corrects Children’s Guide To 911

I need to update everyone on the power of blogs. If so many blogs and blog readers would not have exposed this, British children would still be learning a rewritten version of history. The BBC has taken down the original quoted page that implied 911 was America’s fault. It is rare that media outlets are so prompt in their self corrections. I am sure that blogs and blog readers were a huge part of making that happen. After all, the earlier reported quote had been there since 2001. Nothing mentioning the correction was posted, but a much more acceptable narrative of facts has replaced it.

One reader reports their email to the BBC and the response.

Dear Mr O’Connell

Thank you for your email to Newsround. The article you are referring to

is an old guide that we thought had been purged from our system.

It is my understanding that it was written on the day of the attacks

back in 2001. I agree that it is inappropriate and it is now being taken

off the site.

In addition to this, I have asked staff to do a thorough search to

ensure the guides that remain online are accurate and objective.

I am genuinely sorry that this article has appeared and that it has

caused offence,

Best wishes,

Hooray for fact checking blogs!

An Andrew Sullivan reader got a similar response. I wonder if that reader wrote as steamy a letter as this one.

Yes Virginia, Bloggers can make a difference.
