Self proclaimed Iraq war vet/murderer is exposed as a fraud
I don’t think I have blogged this previously, but I have read about this guy for a while.
As the anti war loons have ramped up their accusations of American brutality, one name emerged as the poster child of the accusations, Jesse Adam MacBeth.
Jesse told gruesome tales of deliberate slaughter and cruelty in a video, claiming he was pushed into these acts by his fellow soldiers.
The problem was that as people began to investigate his story, as such a grim tale should have been investigated, it appeared that Jesse was not even an Iraq vet, nor was he in special forces. In fact he washed out of basic training and doesn’t even actually qualify to be a vet at all.
Well the story has come to a satisfying close.
He admitted today in federal court that his story was false:
A Washington man, whose claims to have slaughtered civilians as a U.S. Army Ranger in Iraq were seen by millions on YouTube, admitted in federal court in Seattle today that he was a fake and a liar.
Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, pleaded guilty to charges he faked his war record.
“He was in the Army for 40 days before he was kicked out of boot camp for being unfit,” said U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan. “He was never in Iraq.”
Macbeth’s story of killing men and women as they left a Baghdad mosque included claims that he was a U.S. Army Ranger and had received the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in combat in Iraq.
And the story had far reaching effects:
His interview was translated into Arabic and distributed in the Middle East, said the U.S. attorney.
“Macbeth’s lies fueled hostility to our servicemen in Iraq and here at home,” Sullivan said.

And that’s the part that really pisses me off.
It’s bad enough that this guy faked his service, which according to him was to get VA benefits. Its even worse that in order to give himself his 15 minutes of fame he made up tales ala Winter Soldier about atrocities. Even worse was his video taping it and it going viral on Youtube.
But like the Newsweek Koran in the toilet faux story, yet another lie by anti war fools has been used to foster more hatred by our enemies.
Do these idiots understand the effect this stuff has in the wider theater? Can they honestly hate the troops so much that they want them to die faster in order to nurture anti war sentiments? Are the lives of the troops so cheap to these anti war frauds? Is this some psychotic ends justifying the means argument?
What gives these people the right to claim that they are supporting the troops when they encourage crap like this?
Macbeth, the phony U.S. soldier who claimed to have committed atrocities, was sentenced to five months in jail.
He deserves a life sentence for every man or woman whom he placed in danger by encouraging our enemies.
He told the judge today he wanted to apologize to “the real American heroes.”
I hate to carry hatred so far, but frankly, I am glad I am not a present war vet, because his apology is an insult when you know that:
He said he lied about his military record in order to get money and treatment from the VA hospital.
Bastard. Every day I get more and more skeptical of the lefts claims that they support the troops.
Look…Ok, i will clearly note, I have seen no evidence that liberals approves of what Jesse did, though i recall reading a few leftists defending him when he was arrested, claiming his confession was coerced.
But I will grant that not all liberals will go this far.
But look at the Dan Rather memo-gate story, which is news again as he sues CBS because he was overzealous. To the very end Dan defended that story despite it being clearly an solidly debunked.
Look at John Murtha and his presumptuous accusations against the Haditha Marines, most of whom (I think) have been vindicated. Has he had the balls to retract his thoughtless and unprofessional accusations? No.
Look at MoveOn.org and their recent foray into smearing General Petraeus, as well as congresses. I mean Hillary is a classic example as she talks down on him in the hearings, claiming he has no credibility when she herself voted for him and recommended his confirmation. But the moment he says anything inconvenient, he is a fraud.
The partisan bullshit is maddening. The Democrats have taken the anti position to anything to do with the war, to the point that they contradict themselves regularly, and look like fools. No wonder their approval rate is 11% to Bush’s 29%.
The fact is that while most Americans want the war to be over, most Americans would also prefer we end it by winning.
Victory is obtainable and desired…by everyone but the Democrats.
Once upon a time, the truth mattered. It seems so long ago and far away.
