Lunacy at KOS: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is “cuddly”

Published by Karl under Idiots, Iran, Liberals

I sat down to blog and was greeted with this headline at Daily Kos: Why I Have A Little Crush on . Realistically, this is hardly a surprise, but the poster was female, lesbian and Jewish, giving her the triple crown in things that they hate in Iran.

Of course the reason she gets giddy about her guy Mahmoud?  I mean apart from looking like Kermit?

He opposes Bush.  Via LGF, here are the actual words she wrote.

I  know I’m a Jewish lesbian and he’d probably have me killed. But still, the guy speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon…

I want to be very clear. There are certainly many things about Ahmadinejad that I abhor — locking up dissidents, executing of gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy. Even still, I can’t help but be turned on by his frank rhetoric calling out the horrors of the Bush Administration and, for that matter, generations of US foreign policy preceding.

So all the evil this man represents, and its all washed away if he speaks against Bush?  Seriously?

Sadly, this is typical at Kos and a romp through her post’s comments confirms that the majority them agree.

If you wanted a poster child for Bush Derangement Syndrome, here it is.

George Soros: The madman behind MoveOn.org

Published by Karl under Liberals, OTA

Investors Business Daily has a must read article up about George Soros, the bankroll behind MoveOn.org.

The article is titled Soros: The Man, The Mind And The Money Behind MoveOn and it really dissects how much one man has come to influence so much if the far left.  More then that it does a nice job of proving that despite their claims to the contrary, money really rules the politics on the left.

I won’t post it all, but I had some comments about select passages.

Over the years, Soros has written books giving his philosophical take on global affairs and acquired a reputation as something of a “stateless statesman.” He calls himself a philanthropist and has given away $5 billion of his now $8.5 billion fortune through his principal vehicle, the Open Society Institute. The institute, in turn, has passed cash on to far more radical groups, such as MoveOn.org.

But Soros is no hands-off donor. According to the Open Society Institute’s Web site: “Despite the breadth of his endeavors, Soros is personally involved in planning and implementing many of the foundation network’s projects.”

Soros says he gives away about $400 million annually.

It’s an admirable picture, but “philanthropy” may be the wrong word. Unlike, say, Bill Gates, who really does put the bulk of his charity into helping the world’s poor through medical services, Soros tends to fund pressure groups and foundations he misleadingly characterizes as promoting “civil society” and “democracy.”

The image gives him moral cover to manipulate democracies whose voter verdicts he opposes.

And that last line sums it up.  He has the power and means to exert a huge amount of power.  His goal?

And since 2003, tearing down what he views as the “fascist” tyranny of the United States, as he has put it, is “the central focus of my life.”
