One of my all time favorite TV shows is the 80's and 90's sitcom Roseanne.

Roseanne when it came out could have been a portrait of my life.  At the time I was not well off financially, and was dealing with a lot of stress and unhappiness with laughter and sarcasm.

It was one of the first sitcoms to portray what life for most working class people was like:  A struggle with highs and lows. It also, as Roseanne Barr notes in her DVD commentary, clearly showcases the disconnect in class in America.

But.  One of the things I do struggle with is Roseanne herself, the actress, the comedienne and the activist.

I perused her blog and was shocked at how she can flip from crazy to wacky in no time at all.

I am withdrawing the right to free speech here, and want this site only to be for people who are 100% behind ending the war and impeaching bush and cheney. No other opinions will be tolerated on these subjects anymore.

Now, she owns her site, as I own mine.  She has that right to focus her content to a particular opinion if she wants.  But I recall just above where she offers to debate Ann Coulter on her ideas.  Apparently only Ann gets that courtesy.

Her one sidedness is frightening, as it allows no room for the many facts that dispute her conclusions.  Which conclusions?  These:

I didn't dig long enough to find anything on a 911 conspiracy theory, but I'm betting its there.  Somewhere.  Honestly, there are a few things there that I have never heard before.

It's sad in a way, that someone can be so clear thinking one second and so whacked the next. 

And yet, I can still watch her show and see the comedy genius represented by it.  Her sitcom was one of the greatest in history in its raw gritty truth.   More people in this country can relate to it then Cosby, MASH or Friends.

So in the end she is an excellent example of why I never dismiss a person entirely based on a single belief.  We are free to agree and disagree, but we can do that topically, and on an item by item basis...well not on her site I guess, but in theory most of us do.

We assess, take the good and the bad and deal with it.

Unlike her and her "agree to agree" post, we in America do have the ability to agree to disagree with respect and dignity.

So I will agree to disagree, and move on.  I have better things to do then to try and correct all the nuttery in the aptly named Rosanne World.

But I guess that just makes me a money grubbing sellout insurance whore, or something...
