Forget the War on Christmas, here comes the War on Thanksgiving

Published by Karl at 3:02 am under Idiots, Liberals, OTA, Schools, racism

Caprice Hollins, the Director of Equity and Race Relations for the Seattle School District is at it again.  Caprice as you may remember was the architect of the idiotic racist racism policy for Seattle schools not long ago.  The school district was also sending kids to a bogus White Privilege seminar.

They love their faux diversity, they do.

Well she is back, and this time Thanksgiving is her target.  The goal?  White guilt.  Michelle Malkin picked this up from Orbusmax.

 The war on Thanksgiving

The annual war on Thanksgiving begins. Via Orbusmax, the Seattle schools are using the holiday to indulge in oppression studies 101:

Dear Seattle Public Schools Staff:

We recognize the amount of work that educators and staff have to do in order to fulfill our mission to successfully educate all students. It’s never as simple as preparing and delivering a lesson. Students bring with them a host of complexities including cultural, linguistic and social economic diversity. In addition they can also bring challenges related to their social, emotional and physical well being. One of our departments’ goals is to support you by suggesting ways to assist you in removing barriers to learning by promoting respect and honoring the diversity of our students, staff and families.

With so many holidays approaching we want to again remind you that Thanksgiving can be a particularly difficult time for many of our Native students. This website http://www.oyate.org/resources/shortthanks.html offers suggestions on ways to be sensitive of diverse experiences and perspectives and still make the holiday meaningful for all students. Here you will discover ways to help you and your students think critically, and find resources where you can learn about Thanksgiving from a Native American perspective. Eleven myths are identified about Thanksgiving, take a look at #11 and begin your own deconstruction.

Myth #11: Thanksgiving is a happy time
Fact: For many Indian people, “Thanksgiving” is a time of mourning, of remembering how a gift of generosity was rewarded by theft of land and seed corn, extermination of many from disease and gun, and near total destruction of many more from forced assimilation. As currently celebrated in this country, “Thanksgiving” is a bitter reminder of 500 years of betrayal returned for friendship.

I am not even interested in addressing the whole Indian issue here, what is more important is addressing what happens when you take what is generally considered a universal holiday of thankfulness and joy and inserting racial agendas.

Maybe that is the mythical roots of the holiday, but [art of what it became was a celebration that we still have things to be thankful for, and maybe,, just maybe, one of those things to be thankful for is that we live in a much more free and enlightened world.

But that wont sell books and keep hotheaded activists paid.

Here is my take.  I don't give a rats ass what it used to mean, or its origin.  I care what it means to me now, that my family and I are healthy, Ii have a good job and our lives are rich.

White guilt?  I have none.  To rely on guilt is to live in the past, ans living in the past forces you to repeat the sins of the past, endlessly even if you do so in your head, and you eventually fester and die under the weight of you self imposed prison.

Looking forward, learning from the past and moving on allows one to grow and to live.

You be guilty if you want, I prefer to live.

STA says:

Speaking shortly in the defense of diversity, when I was growing up Thanksgiving was a time to celebrate the friendship of Native Americans and English settlers. Why do we have to divide people up into fighting groups just to advance the dubious cause of political correctness? Look, the genocide that happened to the Native Americans was terrible. Children can learn about it in history class without ruining a good holiday. Native Americans have a rich culture and history. Why not focus on that, and what they have contributed to America to be thankful for? Instead they’d rather focus on making Native American children feel like victims, and white children feel guilty. Maybe we can go back a few thousand more years and dig up more collective guilt. Can we please come into the 21st century and just get over it?

Anyway, for those that want to wallow in guilt this Thanksgiving, read this liberal white guilt Thanksgiving story around the table before digging into your tofu turkey.

I kind of like myth #2:

The people who came across the ocean on the Mayflower were called Pilgrims.

Fact: The Plimoth[sic] settlers did not refer to themselves as “Pilgrims.” Pilgrims are people who travel for religious reasons, such as Muslims who make a pilgrimage to Mecca.

I see! So, Muslims are the real pilgrims. Give me a break with this garbage!

Jay also gets the money quote:

Isn’t the guilt of overeating enough?

Heh.

Well in the spirit of Thanksgiving, Caprice Hollins should go get stuffed.

    LSU,

I really could just spit on this Hollins person. What gives these idiots any right to make all of these ruffle pink panties in wads type know it alls to try and out do each other to make all of these lofty decisions for everyone else. This silly empty headed piece of garbage needs to take a reading comprehension class. She doesn’t know the meanings of a lot of words. Just about the whole dictionary. She needs to reread her history. Then dry up and die.

You and yours have a great real Thanksgiving Day.
