2008 day 1: The insanity begins already

Published by Karl at 2:55 am under OTA, Pelosi, Sheehan

Straight out of the gate, the foolishness begins.

I knew it would.

And who better to inaugurate the insanity then St Cindy Sheehan.  She started it off with yet another threat:

Sheehan/BDS/Truther mob to disrupt Rose Bowl parade

The impeachment mob plans to stink up the Rose Bowl parade. It’s all part of the New Year’s wave of BDS activities I’ve been telling you about. Prepare for the ultimate moonbat convergence:

There could be some discord during the Tournament of Roses Parade as demonstrators promise to raise issues during the holiday spectacle that has been going on for more than a century. Human rights advocates plan to protest a float honoring the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and anti-war activists, including “Peace Mom” Cindy Sheehan, intend to rally for peace…

Call this what it is:  An opportunity for visibility and media attention.  Long ago, Cindy became the left's most annoying media whore, and nothing has changed for the new year.

And as she promised, so she did:

Cindy Sheehan: Down with BushCo–and screw the evil corporate Rose Bowl parade, too!

As promised, St. Cindy stinks up the Rose Bowl parade and delivers an unhinged salvo posted at After Downing Street–complete with BushCo/Hitler epithets, anti-American insults, and Absolute Moral Authority sanctimony:

...

Gold Star Families for Peace and the Camp Casey Peace Institute has joined a group called the “White Rose Coalition” that will be carrying a large copy of the Constitution at the end of the parade and the Backbone Campaign’s Chain Gang will be following the parade. Many activists will tag along with our “Impeachment” banners, signs and other means of protest to call national attention to the accountability issue.

Being involved in this particular action has engendered the most hate mail for me since I left the Democratic Party! I am “ruining the parade.” I am the “representation of everything that is evil in the world today.” One woman named Carrie, was “sorry” that my son is dead, but he volunteered to “honor” this country with his service and even though Carrie is no “fan” of Bush (yeah sure), I have really “crossed the line” this time.

First of all, we are not protesting the parade at all, except that it is a symbol of corporate excess and it is my opinion it is not really moral to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on parade floats when people are still being killed in Iraq and suicide rates for our Veterans are skyrocketing because the VA system in under-funded and apparently not a priority for BushCo and Congress Inc

So, actually, you ARE protesting the parade....

I can’t remember a time in my life where anyone protesting at a parade would have upset me at all, but since Casey was killed in Iraq and since I have faced and witnessed so much violence, oppression and hardship in the world, it is absolutely stunning to me that this protest would create so much vileness and venom. There are so many more important things in the world besides parades and football games. I have also tried to imagine an Iraqi happening to catch a glimpse of the Rose Parade on TV somehow and marveling how everything is so happy and beautiful in America when our nation has utterly devastated and destroyed theirs.

Since the “conquest” of Iraq, over one million Iraqis have been slaughtered or have died from the tragic, but unavoidable consequences of invasion and occupation. BushCo have desecrated our Constitution and the almost complete fascist take-over of our media and the blatant stealing of our freedoms here at home have bypassed many Americans while they are slumbering in our dull, stupid sleep.

Blah Blah, and so it goes. Actually in this post she is almost coherent, so there is that going for her.

But the fact remains, that if you have to resort to such obviously extreme caricatures to make you point,t hen you point may not stand on its own merit.

Cindy is running for Congress, by the way.  I should wish her well, as she is trying to oust Nancy Pelosi.

I won't hold my breath though, as I doubt that Pelosi will be seriously threatened.

On a related note, check this out:

Loser of the year: Pelosi

“The war in Iraq is the biggest disappointment for us,” she said. “I mean the inability to stop the war in Iraq.”

Never bet against the American soldier. King George III did. He lost. Jefferson Davis did. He lost. Hirohito did. He lost.

Add Nancy Pelosi to the list. The New York Post headline said: “Iraq Policy Losses Cloud Pelosi’s Year.”

She came into office saying she was going to accomplish all these things in her first 100 hours.

She was sworn in on Jan. 4 and 100 hours later all the American people had to show for it was a hangover and a bill from all her partying at her “inauguration.”

Lefty trolls scolded she meant the first 100 legislative hours.

Oh, Congress has its own time-keeping mechanism.

...

“The war in Iraq is the biggest disappointment for us, I mean the inability to stop the war in Iraq,” Pelosi.

Wow, to Democrats, the victory by American troops in Iraq is “the biggest disappointment for us.”

Two leaders lost in Iraq: Osama bin Laden and Nancy Pelosi.

“The war, the war, the war — it eclipses everything that we do here,” Pelosi said.

...

A smart person would have done something other than try to stop the American soldier from winning in Iraq. The Democratic Congress held 40 to 63 votes on Iraq — depending on whose addition one trusts.

Let’s face it, Congress voted on Iraq more than it did on fixing Social Security, on stopping earmarks (a single season record of 11,000 was set) and on securing America’s borders.

...

A year ago she was the first female Speaker of the House.

A year later her accomplishments are:

The first female Speaker of the House.
The first female Speaker of the House.
The first female Speaker of the House.
The first female Speaker of the House.
And did I mention, she was the first female Speaker of the House.

The AP story in full via the New York Post:

So, it is almost tempting to wish Cindy luck.  Almost, but not quite.

Nancy Pelosi may be someone whose politics I despise, but at least she is mostly sane.

So, off we go into a new year, packed full of the same old idiocy.
