Pimping Chelsea- Was the apology too soon?

Published by Karl under election 2008, hillary

This is one of those stories that a lot of people cover so I ignore this just to avoid jumping on the pig pile.

I admit that I never saw the big deal.  For Pete’s sake people, it’s just an expression, and frankly one that is used a lot.  Yes, i will buy that using it in the news may have been an odd choice, but come on, I have seen so much worse with much less fuss.

And in reality, there is some truth behind the point.  The Clinton’s are using their daughter to do some of the PR work.  She has been seen at polling stations and now brunching with Super Delegates.

So yes, in that sense, they are using her to help Hillary’s campaign the same way Bush was using Petraeus to help sell the surge, something Olbermann also called pimping.

Here are some links:

Hot Air:

I won’t use the word that David Shuster and Keith Olbermann used because it was out of line and because I like my blogging privileges, but, uh, well, uh, just read the story.

Jason Rae is a typical junior in college.

He spends several hours a day in class at Marquette University in Wisconsin where he is majoring in history and political science. He is closely following the Marquette basketball team and has the Golden Eagles’ schedule memorized.

But not many 21-year-olds start their Monday with a personal breakfast with Chelsea Clinton, as Rae did this morning at the student union at the nearby University of Milwaukee.

Rae got the one-on-one treatment from the former — and possibly future — first daughter because he is a Democratic National Committee member from Wisconsin and thus a “super delegate,” one of the 796 free agents who can back any candidate in the race for the Democratic nomination.

I won’t say it.

Irony: California environmentalist demands trees be cut down

Published by Karl under Idiots

When do the tree huggers in California hate Redwood trees?

When they block their holy Solar Panels.

On a personal note, I went to high school near this neighborhood.  I need to check my yearbook and see if I went to high school with any of these fools.

Kill the redwoods, save the solar panels

Sunnyvale couple first in state to be convicted under Solar Shade Control Act. They must cut down their redwood trees so the shade will not blok a neighbor’s solar panels. File this one under “looney left vs looney left.”

Richard Treanor and Carolynn Bissett own a Prius and consider themselves environmentalists. But they refuse to cut down any of the trees behind their house on Benton Street, saying they’ve done nothing wrong.

“We’re just living here in peace. We want to be left alone,” said Bissett, who with her husband has spent $25,000 defending themselves against criminal charges. “We support solar power, but we thought common sense would prevail.”

Their neighbor Mark Vargas considers himself an environmentalist too. His 10-kilowatt solar system that he installed in 2001 is so big he pays only about $60 a year in electrical bills. He drives an electric car.

Vargas said he first asked Treanor and Bissett to chop down the eight redwoods, which the couple had planted between 1997 and 1999 along the fence separating their yards. Later he asked them to trim the trees to about 15 feet.

“I offered to pay for the removal of the trees. I said ‘let’s try to work something out,’” Vargas said. “They said no to everything.”

He installed the panels.

After several years of squabbling and failed mediation, Vargas filed a complaint with the Santa Clara County district attorney arguing that the trees reduce the amount of electricity he can  generate. In 2005, prosecutors agreed.

So much stupidity so little time.

Darn those pesky trees.  Its not like they are good for the environment or anything….

Che Guevara: Hero of the left?

Published by Karl under Liberals, obama

This has been all over the place, and I initially found it humorous.

A Flag Obama Supporters Salute?

Oh, my. Barack Obama may want to call his new Houston office and suggest some decorating ideas. Take a look at the flag flying in the office at the moment:

No, that’s not a Texas state flag with a picture of Obama on it. It’s the flag of the Castro-led Cuba regime, with Che Guevara’s face superimposed on the side. A Fox report from Houston captured this image as it showed Obama supporters celebrating his momentum after Super Tuesday.

Does Obama know his Houston supporters honor a terrorist in his campaign office? I’m sure he doesn’t. However, it would behoove him to ensure that the flag gets taken down and that he renounces any affinity for Che and the Fidel Castro regime. (via Jim Geraghty)

OK, first of all, is the flag a reflection on Obama?

No.  Unless of course you can show that he knows and approves of it, of course.

It is however a reflection of the people who support Obama, at least in some sense.

I think personally the left’s attraction to Che Guevara is silly.  The man gets painted as this great hero, but I have to agree with so many that hero worship and idolatry of his life is misplaced.  Was Stalin a hero for slaughtering 25 million?

Berkeley vs The USMC: Battle Royal; Do they support the troops; and War vs Not War

First of all, I read this at Rosemary’s Thoughts:

Code Pinko vs. Move America Forward

Now is the time to fight back. If you have to wear pink just to get in under cover, do so. They are on to our plan to show up on the 12th. They are planning to stack the deck by having all code pinkos sitting in those chairs. DO NOT ALLOW THIS. Here is the e-mail I received from Move America Forward:

The radical anti-military group, Code Pink, has been paying attention to our plans to organize a pro-troop demonstration in front of the Berkeley City Council Chambers on Tuesday, February 12th. (Located at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Berkeley, CA - CLICK HERE FOR A MAP).

We learned of this posting from Code Pink and their allies today: www.indybay.org/newsitems/2008/02/07/18477667.php.

EXCERPT: “Our efforts to close the Berkeley Marine Recruiting Station have galvanized national attention. The pro-war forces, represented by the group Move America Forward, are mobilizing to descend on Berkeley on Tuesday, February 12, starting at 5am! They plan to spend the day attempting to intimidate our peace-loving City and City Council.”

As if this were not enough, a member of the city council, Linda Maio, had this to say in an e-mail:

“…we have received info that the marines and their supporters are gearing up to come to the Feb 12th council meeting to shame us and attack us, in large numbers. Now that Laurie and Betty have put on a recommendation to rescind what we did (on the agenda of Feb 12th) we expect they will jam the microphone with their diatribes. Press will be there in full force. The regular meeting starts at 7 p.m. People need to get there early enough to get in and grab a seat. Pls help pass on the word. The fire dept will not allow more people in than room can hold. Therefore, I am urging people to come early and occupy a seat, and be prepared to speak too and represent our city’s values next Tuesday.”
