Solidarity

Published by Karl at 1:12 am under islamofascism

I never understood the original brouhaha over the danish cartoons, but then again I have never understood both the Muslim intolerance to them, nor the liberal hypocrisy surrounding them.  Liberals, it seems, will defend the Muslims, and portray these cartoons as racist and intolerant, yet they will offer no such outrage when Christians are likewise targeted.  I admit I find that irritating, but not unexpected.

One reason is that Christians generally have a sense of humour and don’t express the same level of outrage.  Catholics rarely take to the streets, swords in hand, and demand death to the infidels.  Might be part of the reason.

The cartoons that were at the center were a mixed bag of boring to biting.  Some I thought were pointless, but others were wickedly on target, showcasing the reality of radical Islam, not the peaceful Islam so many others practice.

When the original outrage surfaced, I did not take a position.  I felt that no newspaper had an obligation to print anything, even if their decision to do or not to do so was hypocritical.

Private enterprise.  The freedom of the press includes the freedom of the editor to not print.  And if enough readers object, the media’s circulation (or ratings) will reflect that, and they will either fold, or rethink such policies.  The free market works.

When many bloggers took to the web posting the cartoons by publishing them ad naseum, I chose not to because I felt I had no dog in the fight.

Now, 2 years later, a group of Islamic extremists have been indicted of plotting to kill one of the cartoonists in Denmark.  What utter stupidity.

And quite frankly, this is a tired old story that I am frankly sick of.  Muslims threatening to kill a teacher for naming a teddy bear after Muhammad?  Seriously?  Taking to the streets and rioting for a teddy bear?  And that is one minor example of a pattern of stupidity that I am wholeheartedly sick of.

Now, while Islamo-fascism is not one of the main subjects on this blog, it is not a foreign one either.  I take a stand against that foolishness when I determine the circumstances justify it.  So since they have (again) taken things to an absurd level, it leaves me inclined to respond.

With Solidarity.  So here I offer my support to the Cartoonists and join my voice with the Blogosphere in Solidarity, and I urge others to follow suit.

I as an American citizen, believe that the Muslims are owls in disguise. They operate from the flying owl fortress in the sky. There, they plot against us all and seek to destroy our virgin daughters.

“…showcasing the reality of radical Islam, not the peaceful Islam so many others practice. ”

Karl, every time I see this kind of construction I take another Tums. *heh*

Fact: Mohammed was THE prototypical “Muslim terrorist” and those that you and others characterize as practicing “radical Islam” are no more doing so than Mohammed himself was at the event that ALL Muslims celebrate as marking the beginning of the Islamic new year, the mass murder (at Mohammed’s specific order) of more than 900 Jewish men who had met with his army of brigands under a flag of truce (followed by the rape and enslavement of their women and children–yes, I meant that to be inclusive for a reason–and the plunder of their households).

So-called “radical Islam” is simply following the example and teaching of Mohammed, nothing more and nothing less.

Those you and others loosely refer to as “peaceful Islam” is in no way any such thing at all. If it is truly peaceful, it cannot be Islam. Oh, it may wear some Islamic trappings (loosely and without any more sincerity than the other “peaceful Muslims” who are deliberately practicing al-taqiyah), but if it claims to be following The Butcher of Medina, then it is a lying Islam.

Come to think of it, the honest Muslims (those you and others refer to as “radicals”) are liars, too, just in other ways, both to themselves and others.

“[P]eaceful Islam”? Doesn’t exist. Might as well call those who are truly peaceful and claim to be Muslims what they are: no more Muslims than Christian Scientists (or Unitarians, for that matter) are Christian.

    David,

I understand what you are saying, but I try to leave some room for the people who really do try to find a peaceful nature of Islam.

Like many things, people make of it what they want, and just as the islamofacists cling to the worst aspects, there are some who try and cling to the better.

I try to avoid too many generalizations.

it may be short sighted, but I like it.

    Karl,

In order for “peaceful Muslims” to “to find a peaceful nature of Islam,” they must eviscerate the teachings of Mohammed and ignore his actual life work. How then can they be Muslims, in truth? They cannot, at least not any more than Mormons, whose “holy books” actually do say (yep, read ‘em myself) that Jesus and Satan are brothers can claim to be Christians. Oh, both groups can claim whatever they want, and, according to the principle of The Big Lie, if repeated often enough can gull the ignorantia class into thinking their claims are true, but all these shcisms/heresies of their disparate religions do is obscure the reality of what true Muslims or true Christians believe and practice.

Calling a skunk a skink doesn’t make it slither as one.

And calling people who all Muslims view as heretics “Muslim” only allows obscuring of the simple, unaltereable fact that Muslims are savages, as was the founder of Islam.

Those who claim to practice Islam peacefully are one of two things: heretics or liars, as I said before. Well, actually both are liars, for the ones practicing a “peaceful” Islam aren’t practicing Islam at all.

Unless we are clear that there are NO “Islamofascists” but simply Muslims and pseudo-Muslims, then we do ourselves and everyone to whom we speak a disservice. Not least of all the pseudo-Muslims who eviscerate the Koran in order to make a peaceful religion of its teachings (instead of “Solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant”–which could be the true motto of Islam, they create a lie and call it Islam). Heck, an outstanding example of (near) honesty among those who claim Islamic roots are the Bahá’í, who at least do not call themselves Muslims, having done exactly what you assert, “try to find a peaceful nature of Islam” by looking for the “good” parts. The 10% or so of the Koran that comprises the “peaceful nature of Islam” (seriously! read the thing! –the parts that were simply lifted from Jewish and Christian teachings) is simply not worth salvaging in the face of the rest of it.

“Like many things, people make of it what they want, and just as the islamofacists cling to the worst aspects, there are some who try and cling to the better.”

And it is now possible to make a silk purse from a sow’s ear, but it’s so much easier to simply use silk. ;-)
