Global Warming is alive and well (despite the cold)

Published by Karl at 1:35 am under Global Warming

Been a while since my last Global warming update, so here we go:

Western Greenland Ice Growing; Still Global Warming

The lynchpin in the anthropogenic global warming theory is the shrinking Arctic ice, but now that some of that ice is actually increasing, scientists claim, without a trace of irony, it is normal for temperatures and ice sheets to fluctuate.

Greenland’s Sermitsiak reported, “The ice between Canada and southwestern Greenland has reached its highest level in 15 years.” Denmark’s Meteorological Institute used satellite images to track the southward expansion of the ice and when the paper asked how these findings “fit in with” continual reports of Arctic ice “melting at a record rate due to increasing temperatures,” global warming was, of course, affirmed….:

If it’s up to meteorologists from Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, there is not anything inherently contradictory that extreme cold is replaced by higher temperatures than average. Or that melting sea ice occasionally is replaced by expanding ice sheets.

‘Weather is a phenomenon which changes from year to year and right now the atmosphere has changed so we have cold weather. That will certainly mean that melting ice in the North Pole will be less this year, but next year the situation can look completely different,’ according to [no first name given] Henriksen.

To sum things up, global warming hasn’t been called off. In  the meanwhile, western Greenlander’s will have to accept that the cold weather continues for some time. At least until next Tuesday when milder weather could be on the way, according to Polarfronten online.

Well, isn’t that what some  “skeptics” have been saying about the recent temperature spikes? That climate changes over time, and it has been warming since the Little Ice Age?

Pretty much, yes.

But that will not stop California from driving the myth as required curriculum.

Global Warming to be Taught in Public Schools?

Be afraid,  America!! Be very afraid!

No matter how many times people like Nobel Laureate Al Gore claim that global warming isn’t political, nothing can be further from the truth.

Take for example a bill in the California senate to require climate change be part of the science curricula in all public schools.

As reported in Friday’s San Jose Mercury … :

A Silicon Valley lawmaker is gaining momentum with a bill that would require “climate change” to be among the science topics that all California public school students are taught.

The measure, by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would mandate that future science textbooks approved for California public schools include climate change.

Can you believe this nonsense? The warming part of the current cycle peaked in 1998, with nine consecutive cooler years since, and the largest state in the union is actually considering requiring the brainwashing of children with junk science.

And, since what happens legislatively in California typically sweeps the nation, be afraid, America! Be very afraid:

The state Senate approved the bill, SB 908, Jan. 30 by a 26-13 vote. It heads now to the state Assembly. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken numerous actions to reduce global warming, but he has yet to weigh in on Simitian’s bill. Other Republicans in the Capitol, however, are not happy about the proposal.

Some say the science on global warming isn’t clear, while others worry the bill would inject environmental propaganda into classrooms.

“I find it disturbing that this mandate to teach this theory is not accompanied by a requirement that the discussion be science-based and include a critical analysis of all sides of the subject,” said Sen. Tom McClintock, R-Thousand Oaks, during the Senate debate.

If they actually made “climate change” a mandatory item it would be good.  That would encompass all the science, the cyclical variations, solar flares and historical records.

But they are masking their real agenda, which is not to teach “climate change”, but to indoctrinate ”Man Made climate change” to out kids.

Politics has rendered real science moot.

One final bit of buffoonery:

Green crusades lot of talk

Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama have called for strict mandatory limits to control greenhouse gases but they aren’t leading by example — each has failed to pay for offsets to cover all of his campaign’s carbon emissions.

Campaign finance records for 20007 show that neither of the two leading presidential candidates has spent money to independently cover his campaign’s “carbon footprint” — the amount of carbon emissions emitted by the planes and vehicles the candidates and their staffs use for travel, or by the computers and headquarters needed to run a presidential campaign.

Though both campaigns say they practice energy conservation, Mr. Obama offsets only some of his airplane flight emissions, while Mr. McCain doesn’t  cover even that.

“They clearly should be not only buying these ration coupons, or indulgences, but they should be massively reducing their footprint,” said Christopher Horner, author of the “Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming.” “The fact that they’re out front on [global warming] is where their troubles start.”

By contrast, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mr. Obama’s rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, has made monthly payments to offset her campaign’s “carbon footprint.”

Now the worst bit of this is that they are making Hillary look good.

Please understand, I don’t care about Carbon Offsets.  Anyone who has looked into them would know that they are a not only a waste of money, they are a feel good/do nothing bit of rhetoric driven by a parasitical industry only concerned with its own wealth.

So come on guys, if you talk the talk, walk the walk.

One Response to “Global Warming is alive and well (despite the cold)”

For 22 years, from 1976 to 1998, carbon dioxide level and average earth temperature both increased. This resulted in a scary Hollywood movie and world-wide global warming hysteria. Group-think developed in the climate science community where peer-review bias led to de facto censorship and a paucity of published studies that objectively investigate the extent to which human-produced carbon dioxide contributes to global warming. It has been over nine years now and atmospheric carbon dioxide level has continued to increase but temperature has gone down. Apparently no one did any real research before or they would have discovered that 440 mya the planet plunged into the Andean-Saharan ice age when atmospheric carbon dioxide was over ten times the present level (http://earthguide.ucsd.edu/virtualmuseum/climatechange2/07_1.shtml ). With a little further real research they would have discovered that, in the current ice age, temperature trends have changed direction at many different temperature levels. This could not occur if there was significant positive feedback. They might have also noticed that carbon dioxide level change lagged temperature change by hundreds of years. The forced conclusion from all this is that non-condensing greenhouse gas, and therefore human activity, has no significant influence on global temperature.
