BDS wins in Vermont

God forbid we should question their patriotism, or suggest that such actions in a time of war send the wrong signal both to the troops and our enemies….

Vt. towns approve Bush ‘indictment’

Voters in two Vermont towns approved measures Tuesday calling for the indictment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for what they consider violations of the Constitution.

More symbolic than anything, the items sought to have police arrest Bush and Cheney if they ever visit Brattleboro or nearby Marlboro or to extradite them for prosecution elsewhere — if they’re not impeached first.

The question put to voters in Brattleboro referred to “crimes against our Constitution” but did not specify the allegations.

Convenient, since there aren’t any…I am still waiting for one substantive breach of law.

“I realize it’s an extreme thing to do, and really silly in a way,” said Robert George, 74, a retired photographer. “But I’m really angry about us getting involved in the war in Iraq and him (Bush) disrespecting the will of the people.”

Ian Kelley, 41, a radio DJ, said he didn’t vote on the article.

“It’s not a good reflection on the town,” he said. “Do I like either of them and would I vote for them? No. But I don’t think it’s cause to arrest them.”

The White House press office didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, but a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee denounced the indictment effort.

Quote of the day follows:

“It appears that the left wing knows no bounds in their willingness to waste taxpayer dollars to make a futile counterproductive partisan political point,” said Blair Latoff. “Town people would be much better served by elected officials who sought to solve problems rather than create them.”

Brilliant.  Absolutely brilliant.

“I am still waiting for one substantive breach of law.”

Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

As sad as I am to admit it (I voted for President Fifi “lapdog-to-successive-Mexican-presidents” Bush… twice), President Fifi “lapdog-to-successive-Mexican-presidents” Bush has failed to “faithfully execute the office of President of the United States” by refusing to allow his administration to vigorously enforce EXISTING laws against illegal aliens, indeed by placing stumbling blocks in the paths of those who attempt to do so (can anyone say Ramos and Compean, for but ONE example of many?), occasional “show” raids on a very, very few businesses (and not in any sunstantive way the MAJOR business employers of illegals, either–can anyone say “Tyson Food”?) notwithstanding. (See here for existing federal laws the President Fifi “lapdog-to-successive-Mexican-presidents” Bush administration could be enforcing that would assure the exodus of illegals from our borders that Oklahoma and Arizona have experienced since passing–and beginning to enforce–laws against hiring illegals, etc.

So, despite the fact that it would probably chap the gizzards of those who voted for those meaningless VT measures, since they were, from the comments listed above, probably voting for the things as a result of “reality-based fantasies” about the Iraq War, I feel compelled to remind you that even a stuck clock is “right” twice a day, and even deranged voters can be “right” for the wrong reasons.

I had such high hopes for President Fifi “lapdog-to-successive-Mexican-presidents” Bush… (See? I didn’t even go to “President Girlfriend-of-’prince’-Abdullah Bush” *profound sigh*)

Voted for him twice. The second time more because his opponent was a first-class scumbag, but I still voted for President Fifi “lapdog-to-successive-Mexican-presidents” Bush twice. *sigh*
