We know Wright inspires Obama, but who inspires Wright? James Cone
This is much scarier than I imagined. We know Wright is someone Obama has called his spiritual mentor, but who does Wright look up to?
One answer, according to this article, is James Cone, and from a social or religious perspective, this is not good.
The insanity of "black liberation theology"
The more you know about Jeremiah Wright, the more appalling he is. Spengler today digs up a televised interview between Wright and Sean Hannity in which Wright upbraided Hannity for not having read the black liberation theologian James Cone, with whom Wright identifies. Who is James Cone? He's the theologian who wrote this:
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.
Wow. Either God wants to destroy white people, or He is not worthy of worship. This is racist idolatry.
Here is an excerpt about Cone and his influence on Trinity UCC, Obama's church, from a sympathetic profile in The Christian Century:
There is no denying, however, that a strand of radical black political theology influences Trinity. James Cone, the pioneer of black liberation theology, is a much-admired figure at Trinity. Cone told me that when he's asked where his theology is institutionally embodied, he always mentions Trinity. Cone's groundbreaking 1969 book Black Theology and Black Power announced: "The time has come for white America to be silent and listen to black people. . . . All white men are responsible for white oppression. . . . Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man 'the devil.'. . . Any advice from whites to blacks on how to deal with white oppression is automatically under suspicion as a clever device to further enslavement." Contending that the structures of a still-racist society need to be dismantled, Cone is impatient with claims that the race situation in America has improved. In a 2004 essay he wrote, "Black suffering is getting worse, not better. . . . White supremacy is so clever and evasive that we can hardly name it. It claims not to exist, even though black people are dying daily from its poison" (in Living Stones in the Household of God).
Wright agrees. When I asked him whether white Americans are right to maintain that the racial situation has improved since the days when Africentric Christianity was born, Wright pointed to the racist remarks by radio host Don Imus: "And you say things have improved?"
Yes, well, we've gone from legal segregation and lynching to a time when not only does none of that exist, but a nationally famous radio host can be hounded out of his job for using a racial epithet. Clearly, nothing has changed one bit in this country. Ha. This is the same church that on Sunday compared criticism of Rev. Wright to one of the most infamous crimes in American history, the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr. I'm sorry, but what?!?! Utter crackpottery.
So where Obama goes to Church, and who he admires all links back to a black liberation theologian who seems to see Whites as the enemy and wants God to destroy them.
Nice. Just what the White House needs.
The Hannity interview above is from march 1 2007.
Obama's Pastor: Rev. Jeremiah Wright
HANNITY: OK, this is the same church. You do have the Web site, right, where it says commitment to the black community, commitment to the black...
WRIGHT: The black value system, which was developed by the congregation, by laypersons of the congregation, 26 years ago, very similar to the gospel (INAUDIBLE) developed by laypersons in Nicaragua during the whole liberation theology movement, 26, 28, 30 years ago, yes.
HANNITY: All right, but we're not dealing with — this is on the Web site today. Let me just inform our audience, and I want you to respond, if you can.
It says, "Commitment to God." By the way, I'm with you, and I hope you'll pray for me, Reverend. Commitment to the black community, commitment to the black family, adherence to the black work ethic. It goes on, pledge, you know, acquired skills available to the black community, strengthening and supporting black institutions, pledging allegiance to all black leadership who have embraced the black value system, personal commitment to the embracement of the black value system.
Now, Reverend, if every time we said black, if there was a church and those words were white, wouldn't we call that church racist?
WRIGHT: No, we would call it Christianity. We've been saying that since there was a white Christianity; we've been saying that ever since white Christians took part in the slave trade; we've been saying that ever since they had churches in slave castles.
We don't have to say the word "white." We just have to live in white America, the United States of white America. That's not the issue; you're missing the issue.
As I was trying to say to you, liberation theology — and I thought Eric Rush has studied at a theological seminary that was conservative — I've come to find out he doesn't know anything more about theology than I know about brain surgery
...
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the ‘60s, (INAUDIBLE) black liberation theology, that started with Jim Cone in 1968, and the writings of Cone, and the writings of Dwight Hopkins, and the writings of womanist theologians, and Asian theologians, and Hispanic theologians...
...
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir? Do you know liberation theology?
HANNITY: I studied theology; I went to a seminary. And I studied Latin.
WRIGHT: Do you know black liberation theology?
...
HANNITY: Reverend, I'm going to give you a chance to answer my question.
WRIGHT: How many of Cone's books have you read? How many of Cone's book have you read?
...
HANNITY: Sir, I'm going to say this whether you like it or not. I'm going to get my words in, and I'm going to tell you right now...
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: As a Christian, sir, I think, as a Christian, you should not separate by race in this day and age. And that's why a lot of people are going to look at that and say, "We're all supposed to be united under Christ, aren't we?"
Good question. By the way, if this ahs been brewing for a year now, why did it take so long to come to boil? Naw, never mind.
Sure, this is not definitive, and it means nothing directly substantive regarding Obama's values, as we cannot automatically assume Obama adheres to the same values as Wright.
But on the other hand, he has been embracing this environment for 20 years. He lists this man as his spiritual leader, His inspiration, his friend and his mentor, then claims he knew nothing of this attitude and philosophy until 2007, through 18 or 19 years of attendance at the church.
So the question needs to asked: Why has he embraced such a socially toxic environment for so long?
If he knew anything about the undercurrents behind this church's politics, he needs to answer why he chose to continue his association. Was it politicial expediency?
And if not, if he claims he knew nothing, he needs to explain how a church could be so well know and radical, how so many sermons could be so divisive and hate filled, and he had no clue.
I won't say he is lying, but it does seem incredulous.
I know...I am a white guy, locked into my white privilege, so I cannot understand the plight of the oppressed.
Maybe not, though I think any person can evaluate facts and history.
But I can tell the difference between a philosophy that is designed to liberate by hatred and division and one that is designed to liberate through understanding and love. Christ sought unity and love, not revolution and hatred.
WWJD seems pertinant...but that's just my silly ass opinion.

What it DOES mean for Obama is that he is FAR left. Wright’s rhetoric is blasphemous and offensive, but it’s not the point, really. It’s the ideology. Liberation theology, whether Latin American (Catholic, specifically, and denounced by Pope JPII and Pope Benedict XV) or Black Liberation Theology or Feminist Liberation Theology, is Marxist at its core. It is Marxist politics branded onto Christianity.
Only leftists subscribe to liberation theology, and Barack Obama’s political record is fully in sync with its ideology.

As for this, I agree with you. It doesn’t necessarily mean that Obama embraces these ideals, but at the same time, it certainly suggests that he does so when he refers to these men as mentors.
Either way, I don’t believe for one minute that Obama didn’t know about their ideology. It’s impossible for him to not know it, when they’ve hardly hidden it. To believe that he didn’t know it is to believe Obama to be a stupid man, when he is anything but that.
Will he pull the “they’re from another generation” card? Or will everyone be too afraid of being labeled a “racist”, and thus not rightfully demand to know how he couldn’t have known about their racist beliefs?
It’s a strange situation, to be sure.

It becomes clear that Obama has been indoctrinated for at least 20 years by the Reverend Wright and the “black liberation theology”.
It is obvious that this theology and Politics go hand in hand.
Just what is this theology that Barack believes in and worships in?
…soldiers for Black freedom …Marxism… separitism…hatred
From the TUCC’s own website:
(which they continue to clean up and REMOVE racist content from) in the reverends own words ( here: http://www.tucc.org/talking_points.htm )…
…”The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone’s book, Black Power and Black Theology.”
In a Sean Hannity interview I watched on TV, Reverend Wright repeatedly interupted Hannity asking if Hannity had ever read James Cone…Cone, Cone, Cone, as if Hannity’s ignorance of what black liberation theology was precluded him from asking his questions.
Curious i looked up “black liberation theology” and this James Cone. I would say you will have to do your own search, and, as Reverend Wright insisted of Hannity, just read.
So who is James Cone and what is a snippet of this Cone-gurus system of ‘liberation’ ideology that the Reverend Wright and his website declares is the basis for the foundation of the church Obama would like us to believe didn’t exist as portrayed while he was in the pews?
****
CONE:…”Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.
The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . . Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. I sure wish I could enbolden, highlight and italize some of this content.
…”the destruction of the white enemy…”.
Now, Obama can him&haw all he wants, so eloquently, to TRY to continue his Conscience of Deceptions (lies: and there are many) like for instance, I never heard Rev. Wright say any of these things…
and when pressured days later to admit that he HAD (lied)- but, that he didn’t agree with Rev. Wright.
Come on.
Wright’s mentor Cone: …”Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.”
Obama’s mentor Wright: God Dam America! …
Obama’s mentors Nation: of the U.S. of KKK A.
Methinks Obama is extremely slick. Makes one think of a Manchurian Canidate. A marxist Mole?
The Communist Party USA , and Democratic-Socialists websites worship Barack.
Can one determine a persons character by the company they keep? What of those who flock to that person in belief his character will support their message?
Obama has removed a page at his site in which the NEW an improved Black Panther Party submitted their endorsement and stamp of approval of Obama who they feel can help them to further their own agenda. Thier message is much the same as the TUCC’s. Again, One has to read their website, and make up their own mind as to the similarities of victimization, hatred, self sustainment and separtism ect.. They want white America separated from blacks and for whites to purchase and provide them land to colonize.
When asked, a campaign spokesperson said THE NEWBPP addition was removed because they didn’t agree with an agenda promoting ‘violence.’ (NOT that the message or agenda itself was disagreeable…)
Did Obama sit in this church, while spiritualy advised by Reverend Wright himself, and finaly find himself in a community he could belong too, while unaware of the foundation of this divisive, racist, separtist, hateful, biggoted, UnAmerican ideology?
This is a man of “UNITY?”
Who is this Senator Obama?
For many years the Church website flew an African Flag; nary an American flag anywhere on the site. One of The website’s 12 step program’s (which also has been removed, but can be found) requirements is:
Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System.
Could this explain Obama’s reluctance to wear an American Flag pin? To salute the American Flag in a proud manner?
To be mentored by a biggot who damns America and requires men women boys and girls in the ‘teaching’ of the Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness” and servants in a captors “white value system”.
****
What is “middleclassness” according to The Unity (unity?) Churchs website page? (which has also been removed).
…”Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must keep the captive ignorant educationally, but trained sufficiently well to serve the system. Also, the captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.
Those so identified as separated from the rest of the people by:
Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.
Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.
Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us”.
So, while it is permissible to chase “middle-incomeness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method-the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness”: If we avoid the snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright, the leadership, resourcefulness, and example of their own talented persons. “
****
I suppsse one could say it’s just words… but I fail to see just how “black anger” is being healed here Mr. Obama?
Further, weather you ever stood up and said, You know (despite the fact that I need your 8,000 votes localy) i gottah disagree with this divisive mindset and try to make a ‘change’ in this communities destructive biggoted enviorment.
Sorry, even without Reverend Wrights vedio exposures, that we could ‘watch in Loops and Loops’, the basic foundation of this churchs teachings is not ‘unity’, and there simply is no way you can talk away another “boneheaded mistake” like the Renzo budship, while continuing to pronounce your wonderous ‘judgement’ and decision making abilities.
It is certainly no wonder at all that Michelle Obama is so surprized by the success of her husband when they both have been indoctrinated to believe that they have been victimized by the white establishment. Even Obama stated he was surprized to be where he was. But let Bill Clinton call it a fairy Tale and now it’s a racial slur.
The race card has been played many times by Obama, he just isn’t called on it is all.
Obama’s own repeated words (just words?) of …
“THEY said…WE couldn’t do it”, shouted ‘race’ content and a Thank you to Pokey and Ray-Ray whom Obama called upon to get out and vote.
“THEY <– ceratinly doesn’t mean Republicans, and “WE” <– absolutely didn’t mean “Democrats”.
Obviously the ‘white’ voters didn’t see a racial divide. “They” believed in ‘change.’
They didn’t Consciously see Obama as a ‘black man’. They think they saw a man of integrity, honesty, a gentleman of America and it’s values in his eloquent untiy speechs. That is, previous to his apologetic understanding of what appears to be the years of whites resentment of forced reverse discrimination.
How do i qualify such a discrimination charge? How should i behave?
Should I tell you that I never whined nor complained to my family, friends, or to my
child as she grew up, about the days when i’d come home another day of being told I didn’t qualify for another great job opening because “We are only excepting minority applications?”
Or of the day the union man came to me and said to pak my tools because they had to have a woman on the job and I was the last one called out and I had to go home? Should i explain the worry and struggle? The nights my wife cried? That after sitting in a computer for a month not being called for my turn i had to give up my apprenticeship and go find a paying job. Never quite had the future or retirement opportunity that I had trained for after that.
Didn’t have the time or the money then to goto college; but since, at that time, college requiremnet was NOT a job qualification for who was the best applicant anyway - college was not a step forward but a waste of effort, money and time.
Should i teach hatred anger and resentment in my home and petrepate another generation of those traits? Or should I MOVE THE EF ON to make sure that one way or another my child can have it better, and hopefully easier, while teaching a determination of “it can be done” even when the choices seem less than obtainable?
Understand discrimination? Yes i do. Do i feel for anyone who has suffered thru it? Yes i do. Have I personaly ACTUALLY lived during a period of it? Yes i have.
Was it as terrible for me as for the less determined? Probably not, as I moved to ‘change’ my circumstances and choose not to wallow in self pity and anger in a time when ‘my skin color’ was subject to qualification.
How can Obama speak of understanding white resentment (his words) when in his book not only does he state that he resents his mother’s race, (white) and how he stayed far away from whites to avoid being mistaken as a sellout? He also brags about the ‘friends he kept ‘close’ to him of choice.
from Obama’s book, ” DREAMS FROM MY FATHER:A STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE” and his relationship to unity; or a perception of selling out to ‘whites’:
excerpt: “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.”
Thus, choosing friends carefully was another “boneheaded” display of Obamas great judgement process of belonging ‘outside the race he resented’.
Obama makes no excuses for his choice of friends and mentor.
Obama makes no references to where, or when, or that, he had a great revelation and changed his preferences. Perhaps we have to wait for a NEW and improved Book.
Obama seems to understand that white society has not been ’static’ while this Reverend Wright “flap” ( as Obama calls it) has.
BUT he can no more disown Reverend Wright then he can the black Community…this community being taught to separate itself from whites into a more perfect union of self determination through Black Power and Alegience based on James Cone’s Principles of hatred.
How does he propose to “change” that? Or does Obama propose to ‘change’ it at all? Does Obama expect others to integrate ‘understanding’ through continued ‘guilt trips’ and condone silently this black anger that is contributing to it’s own ’servitude’ of self destructive enslavement to it’s angry hate spewing Leaders?.
Obamas explantion of not leaving the church is that Reverend Wright has retired and so this moots the issue.
No. No it does not close the issue or change the basis of the foundation of the churchs edict and message to not ‘get past the issue of race religion and region.’ and engulf itself and selfs in past history and victimization.
Although many decades in evolving, white’s have moved forward in unifiying America as Americans, and not seeing color.
(YES there are some of course who don’;t fit this description and certainly they have their own mentors keeping them informed and motivated) Personaly i know of NOONE who is racist. It simply is not a matter of conversation or philosophy. The only time i have ever heard this “N” word, at least in last 30 years, it has come out of an African-American mouth. Continously.
In what now is reported as 1,000’s of communities like Reverend Wrights it appears that it is these types of “teaching grounds” that have remained ’static’, embroiled in victimization, separitism, anger and hatred.
Michell’s statement of suddenly being proud of America for the first time in her life is also a revelation of her programming. Like coming out of a stupor of 20 years of being programmed to condem and dam America, she realized that Obama’s success was a ‘unity’ of the ‘changed’ and colorless vision , of and , by Americans who saw him too as such.
What an illussionist art our Obama.
…”The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . .”
This is some ’sort of’ christianity that Obama worships?
This is sad.
Then we hear on telivision from others…what’s the big deal? This happens in lots of black churches…
Your kidding?
How can people move forward if they are preaching and teaching their children to be angry and generating another generation of hatred and divide?
How can Obama expose his own children to this abuse?
This man shouldn’t even be a Senator.
His voting record of “PRESENT” has kept him an obscure chamelion.
He’s been paid as a Senator for 14 months of campaigning while never even having to do his job.
He’s in charge of the Afghan Committee - and he campaigns that we should be there and not in Iraq- YET he has NEVER even called a meeting.
His lies continue to accumilate.
His Honesty is out the door.
Senator Obama’s fall, should it occur, has set back 30 years of progress with his own deception and the anger it will generate.
Senator OBAMA’S triumph, should he succeed, has prepetrated a fraudulent Image and a delegate blackmail.
Obama has created division because of what and who he has turned out to actually be.
Senator Obama has failed the message of ‘Hope.’
What is written here appears to be just the tip of an iceberg. What lies below the surface of this face of Barack Obama w have been shown?
There simply is No way this man (who as time goes on we discover his deceptions and double speak ) should EVER become President of our United States of America.
To do so would be the ultimate “Conscience of a Hoax” upon us all.
God Bless America!
