Biden and Obama like mocking Disabled people!

Published by Karl at 1:20 am under Biden, McCain, obama

Hmm.  Naw, that may be how the Kos-freaks might treat this, if the same had happened to the conservative candidates of course, but I guess that I, having morals, have to draw the line somewhere.

The real headline should read “Biden and Obama make idiotic mistakes about Disabled people”.

First, Biden pulls this gaffe, asking a guy in a wheel chair to rise and walk (ok, stand up):

Ok, we can be adults and everything, and admit this was nothing more that a bone headed idiotic error.  He forgot, he had a momentary lapse of memory about who he was talking to.  But the chances to rip on him for it are wonderful.

I mean this means that not only are they comparing Obama to Jesus1 they are now trying to heal people, along the lines of John Edwards in 2004, who told people John Kerry would make people walk again.

Yes yes, I know the guy he was talking to was gracious about it, and was not offended.  So what?  that’s no reason not to rip on it.  So, being a fair minded guy, I (until now) didn’t run the story here…because unlike the Kos-Freaks, Huff Po-lings, I realize that when these guys are on the campaign trail, they make what we poor schlups in the real world call a simple, stupid, understandable mistake.

But…

When Obama said this in his ad:

And when he decided to mock McCain for not being able to send an email, he, or what ever dipshit wrote, designed or filmed this commercial, failed to do their homework2.

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.

Oops.

Apparently, at least part of the accusation, is based on his disabilities, which Randi Rhodes says she doesn’t have.

And maybe, just maybe, it isn’t totally true3

Q: What websites if any do you look at regularly?

Mr. McCain: Brooke and Mark show me Drudge, obviously, everybody watches, for better or for worse, Drudge. Sometimes I look at Politico. Sometimes RealPolitics, sometimes.

(Mrs. McCain and Ms. Buchanan both interject: “Meagan’s blog!”)

Mr. McCain: Excuse me, Meagan’s blog. And we also look at the blogs from Michael and from you that may not be in the newspaper, that are just part of your blog.

Q: But do you go on line for yourself?

Mr. McCain: They go on for me. I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need – including going to my daughter’s blog first, before anything else.

Q: Do you use a blackberry or email?

Mr. McCain: No

Mark Salter: He uses a BlackBerry, just ours.

Mr. McCain: I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone. I have the luxury of being in contact with them literally all the time. We now have a phone on the plane that is usable on the plane, so I just never really felt a need to do it. But I do – could I just say, really – I understand the impact of blogs on American politics today and political campaigns. I understand that. And I understand that something appears on one blog, can ricochet all around and get into the evening news, the front page of The New York Times. So, I do pay attention to the blogs. And I am not in any way unappreciative of the impact that they have on entire campaigns and world opinion.

So in the end, the ad stands as foolish fear mongering with a huge dose of stupidity.  McCain, as the interviews shows, prefers not to do email, and prefers human contact.

How awful is that.

He is savvy (he knows Drudge is a primary information source) And he is aware (he knows blogs are also a primary information source).

So the whole ad, at least that aspect of it, is in reality a huge load of dung and a fairly insulting one at that.

Obama, or his staff, has really lost it if they think this is going to be good enough to defeat him.
