The real problems with Ayers
The subject of William Ayers has been one of great debate, with a lot of diverse opinions weighing in.
To some, he will always be a traitor. An unrepentant terrorist and rebel who formally declared war on his country, who bombed his own country, who lead an organization whose activities caused at least three deaths and many injuries.
I personally admit that I am sympathetic to this view. His group targeted police and military, and as one analyst noted in 2003, only sheer incompetence kept them from killing more.
I take personally violent attacks on police and Military. Likewise, I take exception to the fact that his apologies and regrets are heavily nuanced and in reality he has never fully recanted his traitorous activities.
The penalty for treason is death, yet he is lauded as a pillar of his community. I find it distasteful. This is again the abandonment of consequences.
But there are those who feel his years offer atonement. The submit he deserves recognition for the life he lead after his violent activities. They showcase his accomplishments and laud his as a role model in his community.
I understand their points, and if he was expressing even simple remorse, I might agree.
He has not to my knowledge made the oh so simple step is stating that remorse clearly, it is always qualified and parsed.
So I have to look at him and wonder, has the leopard really changed his spots? Or does a terrorist still lurk beneath his calm interior.
And frankly, that scares me more than anything.
If this guy still harbors his ends justify the means rationality, how does that affect his education philosophy?
It occurs to me that he, like many anti war radicals, are now considered the educational elite in our nation.
Think for a moment what that means.
Should we be concerned that we have placed in positions of great influence those who actively sought war against their country?
I think it is a fair question. What does that say about our institutions of higher learning? We already know they promote liberalism almost to complete exclusion and suppression of conservative values and opinions.
Should we worry about a deeper agenda?
On thing I can say, if Seattle is any example, the education system has gone completely to hell. So many elements of stupidity, many of which I ave blogged about.
Interesting that one of those, white privilege is a concept that that was advocated in its early stages to Ayers by and the WUO. So also is the concept of Identity politics.
Isn’t that interesting.
And now we also find that Ayers has a tentative connection to Acorn, the organization that is seeking to control this election with their widespread fraud.
Isn’t that interesting?
It appears the problems with Ayers don’t go away if you accept his half hearted regrets.
Maybe he is not really an unrepentant terrorist. Maybe he is worse.
Either way, I think there is plenty of reason to be concerned.
But I think our concern should not be with him as a person, it should with the real problem, which is the coddling of radicals by the liberal establishment, and how many of them are now controlling the education in our country.

The problem is, Ayers and his ilk aren’t merely ‘coddled’, they’re actively ADMIRED by a large proportion of the people, and not for their nuanced apologies, but for their violent deeds and radical views.
Let me repeat that-they are ADMIRED by the Left-wing establishment. It’s the same kind of problem we see in scumbags like Ward Churchill. The “new Left” of the sixties is now the “Establishment” of today, and their “Vanguards” are lionized, treated with a kind of awe and hero-worship.
This is why, among other things, Obama used Wright’s church and Ayers’ connections to jump-start his career. These men, and their radical allies aren’t condemned in the so-called “Liberal” community, they are held up as exemplars and heroes.
It’s only when you speak OUTSIDE the Left-wing dominated Establishment that they are condemned-and then only softly- for their deeds of blood and treason.
Should we worry about a deeper agenda?
The long and short of it is yes. Their idea for the education system, as Marx explained give me your children for a generation, is to make rebels, parent-killers, terrorists, and the such out of our children. Why do think the home-schooling industry has grown so much? I begged my sister to homeschool until she finally said okay! Wheh!
Rope, tree, horse and ayers. Some assembly required. 3-7-77
Well…I’m sure that’s what they’re trying to do, at least… didn’t the Menendez boys go to private schools, though? The result I’ve observed isn’t “Rebels” or “Terrorists”, it’s more or less “Sheeple” (Sheep-People) and Lemmingmen (Lemming-like-humans) that have come out of all these “Reforms” pushed through by the Left… that is, the above, and a crop of slackers who don’t understand the concept of “Consequences”.
Far from creating their hoped-for vanguard young warriors itching to save the world from the EEVIL capitalizts, they’ve created generations of brand-obsessed consumers unwilling to take serious risks and easily dissuaded by pain and discomfort-even from productive activities, much less from the dangerous business of Revolution.
I think you are seriously on to something there.
This is another great example of the law of unintended consequences….
