What economic crisis? You mean the one the media made up?

Published by Karl at 1:06 am under MSM, hypocrites

At lunch today, several coworkers and I were discussing the present crisis, and a couple of us had noted that for us, at least locally in Seattle, there doesn’t seem to be a huge impact.

Now, this is hardly anything substantive, being very anecdotal and narrow in scope, but I have seen other indicators that the problems seem to be limited in scope.

But not to hear the media, who continue to portray this is a depression in the wings.

It is undeniable that many people are feeling it, but at the same time, how much is a direct result and how much is a responsive result?

One friend today noted that many recreational sports were seeing impact, but I wondered, is that because people cannot afford to go do it, or because people concerned about their money are choosing to save their money and not do them?

In other words, are we reacting to the threat of a downturn and creating one in our caution.

It comes as no shock to learn that there is now a belief that the media is behind this created panic:

Public Aware That Like Obama, Financial Crisis Is Largely a Media Creation

You can fool some of the people some of the time, which the media proved by getting the Moonbat Messiah elected President and convincing the gullible that global warming is real. But as the MSM casts off even the thinnest pretense of professionalism in pursuit of its radical-left policy goals, fewer are getting fooled less of the time.

An overwhelming 77 percent of Americans believe that the US media is making the economic situation worse by projecting fear into people’s minds. The majority of those surveyed feel that the financial press, by focusing on and embellishing negative news, is damaging consumer confidence and damping investment, making a difficult situation much worse.

The same young adults the media duped into flushing away their futures by voting for BHO overwhelmingly (85%) answered Yes to this question:

Do you think the financial press is making the economic crisis worse by projecting fear into people’s minds?

Now I did not intend to make this about Obama, but the author does note an interesting possibility.  By ramping up the financial panic to epic proportions, will they then change their tunes and try to calm the fires once Obama is elected?

In the meantime, we can look forward to the economic situation improving when BHO takes office, because at that point the papers will stop talking us toward a depression, having lowered the economic bar to where The One might be able to step over it.

But that would suggest that the media is biased, right?

Surprise:  They are.

Ed Morrissey unloads this morning on WaPo ombudsman Deborah Howell’s analysis of election coverage from her paper over the last year. Make sure to read Ed’s full post to get a good idea of just how lopsided the coverage was in favor of Obama - not only that, but Ms. Howell admitted the WaPo flat out fell down on the job as it related to digging into Joe Biden’s past like they did Gov. Sarah Palin’s.

But would they step into such active advocacy?  In some cases, yes:

I suspect in the coming days and weeks we’ll see more of this, just like we did when Chris Matthews admitted earlier this week that he thought it was his “job” to help the Obama presidency over the next four years. The media’s done their “job” in helping get their candidate elected. Now that it’s all over, there’s no point in even pretending objectivity anymore. Numerous studies confirm the assertions made by many conservatives about the blatant bias of media coverage in favor of Obama.

And by extension, the logical next step is having elected him, they will support him, even as the MSM has been overtly hostile to Bush and the other Republicans.

So now we shall see.  If, in early 2009 we see an immediate shift in the news focus regarding the financial crisis and looming depression, well you can figure out for yourself why that is.

Well, it is confirmed that I am not the only one who noticed this YEARS ago. This was, after all, a two year long campaign. I have an idea for campaign reform…anyone already holding office CANNOT collect any donations until 60 before the primary and thirty days before the general election. Everyone else can. So there! (What do you think?)
