Inauguration thoughts

Published by Karl at 11:55 pm under Obama mania!

As we approach Obama’s inauguration, I just was thinking…

Aside from him being black, what is so historic about him?  And if that is the only tangible factor, then let’s admit that and move on…cept if we do, we are racists.

All presidents face a historic journey, if you think about it.  Any person elected is one out of 300 million, using current figures.  Out of the billions (guessing) who have lived and died in our country’s history, only 46 people have been elected.

So they are all select and faced an improbable set of circumstances to be where they are when elected.

The fact is only his race defines him as special from all the rest of our leaders.  And that is not a bad thing.  But would we be whooping and hollering this much for a woman?  An Asian?  A Hispanic?  How about a Jew?  Just wondering.

As for the celebration, the Lincoln analogies are honestly getting nauseating.  Seriously.  Just as Dan Quayle was no Jack Kennedy, Obama is no Abe Lincoln.  I don’t think he has a tenth of Abe’s integrity and fortitude.  Time will tell.

And the cost of this Obama love fest, with the Hollywood driven concerts, and the parades and feasts and parties…According to the news reports we are in a recession that is nearly a depression, with the worst job forecasts since WWII.  We are talking about a bailout package of nearly a trillion, if not more, just to keep our country out of the gutter.

So why are we dumping a bazillion dollars onto the streets of DC?  How much of that would be better spent on the homeless shelters in DC?  On education programs?

Note that I have always been disgusted by the orgy of wealth and privilege that  accompanies the inaugurations, and I have said so as long as I have been aware of them.

Nothing sets aside our leader as much as the disgusting displays of wealth, elitism and privilege that seem to come with their taking office, and I point that finger at pretty much every elected official in DC.

What matter about the failing problems of our public schools when our leaders send their kids to hand picked private schools.

The Obama’s were lauded as being a Wal Mart family, just regular people.

Seems like they forgot all about that.  I mean when he said that “We’re all going to have to sacrifice for the Greater Good”, apparently that does not include scrimping on food at the parties.

The appetizer will feature a seafood stew in puff pastry - including scallops, shrimp and lobster - in honor of Lincoln’s love of seafood.

The main course of a “Brace of American Birds (pheasant and duck)” with sour-cherry chutney will be served with molasses sweet potatoes - a nod to the root vegetables and wild game that Honest Abe ate as a child in Indiana.

And I doubt that Wal Mart will be anywhere close by that menu creation…

Just a few thoughts.

    Make It Right With Him…

When there are problems in our lives and we cannot put our finger on the origin of them, chances are it has something to do with something we are doing that against what is good and honest and Holy. I know many people do not believe in anything…

My goodness, could he make it seem anymore like he was expecting Lincoln to attend? lol. How have you been? I pray for you a very blessed new year.

    Blogeeky Traffic Stuff…

I seem to have returned to my blogging roots: simply blogging to mollify the voices in my head. And that’s a Good Thing, IMO.

Atheists want to remove “So Help me GoD”…

Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.
