Well that didn’t take long. Obama asks military to cut budget during war - Correction: No he didn’t
My pessimism to the contrary, this story was incorrect, and Obama has an 8% increase planned. Apologies.
I so saw this coming. I was active duty when Clinton slashed the military 30% and weakened us beyond all belief, and now, here we go again.
The President didn’t even wait 2 weeks into his presidency before serving news that the Pentagon has to cut its budget more than 10%, or about $55 billion dollars.
So much on being strong on defense.
As Hot Air noted, the trillion dollar so called stimulus package contains many more billions of dollars of pure pork despite Nancy Pelosi’s assurance that would not happen.
And consider the implications of that anyway. Everyone focuses on the Military as the money pit of the budget, but its budget was only $512 billion, much less that the bank bailouts and stimulus spending.
And as Hot Air noted:
Obama’s busy expanding all of the rest of the government except for its primary, Constitutional mission: defending the nation.
Also, consider that he is talking about expanding operations in Afghanistan, and as yet there is no plan to draw down Iraq. We are facing new challenges in Iran, Gaza and Korea, but hey, no worries, we can more with less.
The democrats continue to prove that they love big government and entitlement and hate or at least are clueless about defense.
God help us.

And here I thought Obama was about CHANGE (but wait! he cut 10%, which is a different number than what Clinton cut - CHANGE!!!)…
Have no fear, being the Messiah and all, Obama doesn’t need a military. He’s going to convince all the members of Al Qaeda and Hezbollah to come work at failing GM & Ford plants (and he’ll get Iran to fund the auto-bailout!). Either that…or with a raise of his mighty staff……….

No big surprise here. I don’t think there’s been a Democrat since the 1970s that was truly interested in defending our nation.
It’s only been two weeks, but it’s going to be a rough four years.
For all those on Active Duty, it’s going to be a rough trip until 2013.
I thought the surge was working and Iraq had a peaceful election.
