Palin not afraid to speak the truth about the Long and Tiller killings
And people wonder why I like her so much.
Palin links Tiller, Long slayings
Sarah Palin today picked up a widely heard theme on the right, using the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller to call attention to the murder of an army recruiter in Arkansas, allegedly by a self-styled Islamic militant:
The stories of two very different lives with similar fates crossed through the media’s hands yesterday — both equally important but one lacked the proper attention. The death of 67-year old George Tiller was unacceptable, but equally disgusting was another death that police believe was politically and religiously motivated as well.
William Long died yesterday. The 23-year old Army Recruiter was gunned down by a fanatic; another fellow soldier was wounded in the ambush. The soldiers had just completed their basic training and were talking to potential recruits, just as my son, Track, once did.
Whatever titles we give these murderers, both deserve our attention. Violence like that is no way to solve a political dispute nor a religious one. And the fanatics on all sides do great disservice when they confuse dissention with rage and death
It is sad when she is more presidential in her comments than the president.
As the article notes, people around the net are upset that Obama and the liberals are all outraged over Tiller’s murder, but have said little about Long’s.
Michelle Malkin:
Obama condemns Muslim attack on Arkansas Army recruiters…not
President Obama announced his choice for Army Secretary this afternoon.
The news isn’t what he said in his statement about GOP Rep. John McHugh:
“As Secretary of the Army, he will ensure that our soldiers are trained and equipped to meet the full spectrum of challenges and threats of our time. And John [McHugh] shares my belief that a sustainable national security strategy must include a bipartisan consensus at home, and he brings patriotism and a pragmatism that has won him respect on both sides of the aisle. I look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.”
The news is what he left out.
Not a word about the jihadi attack on the two Army recruiters in Arkansas. No condemnation of the heinous attack and senseless violence. No condolences for the families of the targeted men or praise for the military recruiters who have been under increasing attack on U.S. soil. No statements from the DOJ or Pentagon, either.
Sister Toldjah:
Why does one fanatical murder deserve condemnation, while another does not?
President Obama’s silence on the politically-motivated murder of a US soldier yesterday, and the attempted murder of another - both at the same recruiting station, speaks volumes.
Within hours of the murder of partial birth abortion doctor George Tiller, our President was condeming the attack. Yet, it’s been 24 hours since the murder of 23 y/o Pvt. William A. Long and the attempted murder of 18 y/o Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, and what has our President - their Commander in Chief - said in response?
Zilch.
Moral of the story? Violence against those who serve left-wing causes is worth speaking out against, whereas stateside violence against those the left are notoriously hostile to who serve under his command is not.
Revealing.

Liberals Blame O’Reilly for Tiller Murder, Silent on Military Recruiter Shooting
Victoria Taft:
Outrage Over Abortion Doc Murder, Ho Hum Over Soldiers Murder
By now all know of the heinous murder of abortion doctor, George Tiller in Witchita, Kansas by a nutcase. Righteous anger has been expressed by pro and anti-abortion people.
Attorney General Eric Holder was quick to dispatch the U.S. Marshals Service to protect “appropriate people and facilities around the nation.”
…
Another murder happened just today, June 1, 2009 and the disparity of outrage or national headlines screams loudly.
A United States Army Soldier was gunned down and murdered outside an Army Recrutiment Office in Little Rock, Arkansas and a second wounded.
Where is the quick condemnation from the anti-war left? Where is Obama’s rapid condemnation of this heinous murder? Where is the Attorney General’s mobilization of US Marshal’s to protect Recruitment Facilities?
Recruiting Offices are not armed and not fortified as many abortion clinics are.
The hypocrisy is disgusting. Every conservative I personally know is outraged by Tillers death. Yes, many of us despise PBA, but we don’t shoot people to show our despite, and we condemn the fanatics who do.
Despite the near universal outrage coming from all corners, most liberals have seized on this to blame O’Reilly and Fox News for Tiller’s death. There is no tragedy they will not exploit to marginalize conservatives.
In the case of Long, even though the motive was clearly religious, no one is talking about that on left, or at least very few. No one is raising the specter of Muslim extremism and how dangerous their hatred is. In fact few are even talking about it at all, other than small story.
The killer was a Muslim extremist, but I doubt we will find them condemning Al Jazerra any time soon. Where is the outrage of that religion’s extremism?
Hypocrites.

“Where is the outrage of that religion’s [Islam's] extremism?”
Well, it’s hard to be outraged at “Muslim extremism” when so-called “extreemists” are simply practicing the core values of Islam. Why! In order to be a humane–or even moderately civilized–religion, Islam would have to repudiate the life and 90% of the teachings of its founder! Can’t have that, now can we?
