The Newest Birther: Andrew Sullivan?

Published by Karl under Idiots, obama

Yes, Andrew, who has been blogging in the tank for Obama for a while has suddenly joined the ranks of the Birthers1, well sort of.

He is essentially taking the same approach to the situation that I am.  That the real certificate is likely fully supportive of BHO, but the administrations refusal to provide it’s promised transparency is confusing.

Hat Tip Hot Air and Just One Minute:

The whole birth certificate issue gets weirder still:

“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago….”

But why are we supposed to rely on the testimony of Dr Fukino, whom I believe entirely. It is not my job as a journalist or yours as a citizen to take public officials on trust. They are not to be trusted, whoever they are. It is our job to demand all the evidence we want or need. I know the electronic record is legit. I have no doubt that Obama has every constitutional right to be president. I think the Birthers are nuts. But there is no reason on earth that the original cannot be retrieved and shown. Jon Klein and CNN were wrong, and I retract my apology of yesterday.

Stupid Video alert: Jesus reveals the name of the Anti Christ (can you guess who?)

Published by Karl under Idiots

This is too silly for words, but sadly there will be a few people who will act like they believe it.  The Birthers will likely add this to their complaints.  Not a citizen AND Satan.

LSU does NOT - REPEAT, NOT! - endorse or support this video.  I merely show it to showcase the absurdity of people with a few books and way too much time on their hands.

I have more than enough reasons to dislike and disagree with Obama and his policies without resorting to this.

Exit thought:  How many remember when they said this about Reagan, in part because his name, Ronald Wilson Reagan had 6 letters in all three words, making a 666.

So at least BHO is in good company.

Double video madness

Published by Karl under Just for fun

The first video that caught my eye was the wedding party entrance video.  As one Youtube commenter said, “all weddings should be this fun”.

I agree.  I hope they keep this sense of fun and joy forever.  Blessings to Jill and Kevin.

The second video is a bit harder to parse.  This video of the Santa Cruz City Council is certainly funny, and one would expect it to be a spoof.  It is not.  Those people really are that wacko.

And yet, despite the humour, that meeting is a triumph and testament for Democracy.  Everyone there has a voice.  Their words may be ridiculous, and I am sure SNL or someone will eventually lampoon it.

But, my hat still goes off to the City Council for allowing all voices to be heard in their open forum, no matter how silly they are.

A lot of people are mocking it, and rightly so, but at the same time, in a strange way, it should be celebrated.

The chart the Democrats will not let you see….see it here.

Published by Karl under Democrats, hypocrites

The New Direction promised by Nancy Pelosi, Obama’s Hope and Change and all the promises of absolute transparency in Government…don’t mean SQUAT.

When the Republicans planned to issue a mailer critical of the bloated Democratic Health Care bill, the Democrats blocked it.

Democrats Block GOP Health Care Mailing

Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate.

House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents.

The dispute centers on a chart (see below) created by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee to illustrate the organization of the Democratic health care plan.

At first glance, Brady’s chart resembles a board game: a colorful collection of shapes and images with a web of lines connecting them.

But a closer look at the image reveals a complicated menagerie of government offices and programs that Republicans say will be created if the leading Democratic health care plan becomes law.

Racism in America will never die - Not as long as the liberals keep giving it CPR

Published by Karl under racism

I have two stories on racism on my mind as I write this.  The first is from a few weeks ago, concerning an incident at a Philly Swim Club:

Camp: Private Pa. pool turned away minority kids

Members and officials of a private swimming pool in a Philadelphia suburb reacted to a visiting group of minority children by asking them not to return and pulling other kids out of the water, according to a day camp director who said Thursday that parents are considering legal action against the pool.

The pool claims the kids were unruly and the pool was noisy and crowded, prompting them to cancel their contract.

The other issue, of course, is the recent arrest of Henry Louis Gates, Jr for disorderly conduct in Cambridge.  In that situation, Gates was seen breaking into his own house, prompting a neighbor to call the police.

In both cases the immediate response and accusation was the same:  Racism.  The kids were mostly minority, so of course the swim club was a snooty all white club getting rid of the low lifes.  And Gates, instead of thanking the officer for checking up on the suspicious entry, proceeded to loudly accuse him of racial profiling.

LSU on the road again

Published by Karl under general

I am on the road this weekend to a reunion in the SF Bay Area.

I will try to blog along the way.

My daughter is getting concerned about the Employee Free Choice (lack of choice) Act, so I plan to dig into that next week.

Also on my radar in local news the Hutchinson lawsuit, some Vigilantism gone right (or maybe wrong) and sharing the roads with stupid people.

On the national front, the global warming tax, the taxes and the taxes to pay for all the taxes.  Plus the great grassroots jobs Global Warming creates.

Talk to you soon.

Another sad passing: RIP Alexis’s Winter White (way late Sunday Musing)

Published by Karl under Sunday Musings

Again, I have been absent as my family got a bit smaller, yet again.  Please pardon me if this seems rambling, this has been a hard night for me.

This time, it was again a beloved pet, our dog Lexi.

A quick note.  For those who see people like me saddened and upset about the loss of a pet, and are incredulous, I pity you.  We domesticated the dog and it in turn domesticated us.  We grow attached to these furry mammals and in many cases, they are the only family some people have.  If you have never bonded so closely to a pet, you have really missed something.

mvc-016s1While I am not of the extreme  types who dress them, and buy funeral plots, I am attached, and the last two that have died represent the pets I have had the longest in my life.

Lexi was born 11-23-2004.  I know this because I have her breeding certificate.  She was pure bred of UKC registered PR bloodlines, an American Eskimo Dog, miniature, a breed closely related to the German Spitz.  The title reflects her registered name.

And maybe not the first passing glance caught on camera?

Yes I know, these are likely not proof he is the lecher in chief, these are random captures that look worse than they are.

But heck, in tough times, we all need a giggle…

Atlas Shrugged: Fiction to fact in 52 years

Published by Karl under general

Reprinting with permission an article from the Ayn Rand institute

The Significance of Ayn Rand’s Novel Atlas Shrugged
From The Ayn Rand Institute

“I refuse to apologize for my ability — I refuse to apologize for my success — I refuse to apologize for my money.”

The U.S. economy is in shambles, with every nightly newscast bringing word of new government interventions. Americans are alarmed and desperate for answers: How did we get here? How will we recover? That might sound like a description of today’s world, but in fact it’s also a sketch of the world Ayn Rand created in her classic novel Atlas Shrugged.

The tea parties testify to the outrage that many Americans feel toward Washington’s explosive growth in the past few decades — especially under Presidents Bush and Obama. Atlas Shrugged not only gives voice to this outrage, it provides both a profound explanation of the cause of today’s crisis — and a positive, radical solution to it.

Why is it that every problem seems to call for increased government intervention at the expense of freedom? Why is it that businessmen inevitably take the blame for any crisis? Why are the most competent, most successful Americans smeared as greedy and selfish? To these questions and many others, Atlas Shrugged gives answers unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
