Bryan Suits News! Goodbye Seattle, and hello LA!

Published by admin at 1:35 am under Uncategorized

It is official, we can now bid farewell to Bryan as a region.  Bryan emailed me the official news (gee, It’s an EXCLUSIVE!) and he wants you all to know his good fortune.

I personally will miss him, and will try to call down to his new radio home occasionally, just to keep him on his toes.

Expect it Bryan!

So, with a bittersweet smile, LSU says:  Congrats Bryan!  This is nothing you did not deserve, and I hope they know how lucky they are to have you.

So….I work in Los Angeles (again). KFI (640am -LSU) has offered me the 7pm-10pm gig and my peeps are working things out. Needless to say, it’s a bit of a step up.

KFI is hands down the number one news/talk station in America( the #1 english station in LA) and jobs there happen once in a generation. Pretty good for getting off the plane without an aircheck and going on that night.

But Program Director Robin Bertolucci is the best in the business and she knows what she wants as soon as she hears it. When I was fired ( on Veteran’s Day weekend…as I recall) Robin called me before I got home.

“So…now will you come to LA?”

I’ll start next week and we’ll be moving down there over several weeks time. I’m obviously very excited about all of the opportunities that having a show in LA represent, but I’ll always miss Seattle. It’s home and it’s where I started in talk radio. I’ve been doing the KFI show from Clear Channel in Seattle, and I gotta say..I could get used to that. However, the move is unavoidable. Having started in KROQ LA in 1992, I know the area and the shock will be minimal. Housing prices are plummeting (luckily) and it appears to be a cosmic confluence of factors calling me back to that town.

Syndication? Maybe. If that happens, Karl will be one of the first to know.

I wish everyone at KVI the best, and I really mean that. In radio…people get fired. Period.  I think that change is inevitable and I hope others have the luck I have enjoyed these past three weeks. As we used to say at KROQ, “It’s not WHO you know…It’s who I know.”

Good luck my friend.  Reminder: has podcasts and live streaming.

The only time in my life I’ve ever been jealous of LA.

Brian deserves it – may God bless him!

    I can get my ISLAAAAAAAAAAAM

I hope he has the same snark and childish humor as before… it was always a light hearted way to end the day discussing the issues and having a good laugh. I’m glad KFI has a great podcast setup so you can d/l the shows.

Gotta love Podcasts. Sorry KVI, perhaps they can pick him up again when he is syndicated;-)

Will you take long dist. calls?

Godspeed Bryan! You landed on your feet, thats for sure!

Congrats Bryan! KVI’s loss is KFI’s gain! Glad they have podcasts too. Don’t be a stranger.

Well knock ‘em dead, Bryan. And may you just keep getting better and better and knocking out all the local competition! The very best to you. I still admire your clever facility with the english language.

    The Suits Fishing-n-Brews/Shooting-n-Sarsparilla Club concept (eventually kinda’ becoming Wed. Trivia @ Wilde Rovers) going by-the-way-side, notwithstanding (inside joke from ’05…Yeah, THAT guy…);
I actually started shopping IT gear back in July — anticipating streaming the Bry Show while in Cal. on extended business. Ironic, indeed. I’ll have to look you up and buy a round. Break a leg — and CHEERS!

I’ve so missed the Suitsizm’s as I called them… Nobody, nobody could come up with one liners like he could. I loved them so much I was writing them down as I heard em’…”If frogs had machine guns, crows would leave em’ alone!” Don’t know, really, what that meant… but I still laugh my butt off reading it, and others.

Good luck Bryan, I’ll miss you too! KVI shot themselves in the foot by letting you go! I hardly even tune in anymore… besides, I can’t stand to listen to Schrammy.

I would not be a bit surprised if Bryan ended up being syndicated. He’s got far more going for him than John Carlson. But Carlson seems to have the local gig all pinned up based on his history and contacts. It will be very interesting if/when KVI has to grovel a bit to get Suits on in syndication. Make no mistake, Bryan Suits in on the way up in talk radio. He’s got a very unique style that blends FM/AM and Variety with Politics. There is a large youthful audience that is going to become aware of conservative politics, and will be getting some skin in the game but won’t tolerate the Limbaugh or Medved formats. Suits is the future.

I can’t believe KVI made the mistake, but then again, I can because I know someone there, and the top management is very political and has made a lot of changes in the past year or so. I don’t know Bryan personally, but my guess is that he’s not the kind of guy that was willing to be the sycophant new management was looking for. Good for him.

I guess I’ll have to call down to LA now and again. I certainly don’t listen to KVI much anymore.

You are a damn site more gracious than those heels at KVI deserve. Congratulations on your new gig. You moved to a bigger pond, definitely a big step up!

As for the detestable Mr Schramm, rumors persist of his involvment in your dismissal (particularly the timing) as retaliation for the thorough on-air drubbing he received when he repeated his factless moronic assertions regarding the Iraq war and other assorted topics.

You are on your way up Bryan and we are all cheering for you!

Cool. Good scoop. And good luck to Mr. Suits. He was fun and informative with a unique perspective. In this age of podcasts and online broadcasts, stations should have toll-free numbers. The number of out of town calls ought to be good for ad sales with an eye to increased revenues balancing the cost.

That’s great news. Bryan used to be a lot more outrageous and has done some great talk-radio in his time, so I hope he’ll get back to some of that.
The only downside is that he’ll have to turn in most of his guns when he moves south to that slave state. Keep the lever-action Marlin, Bryan. Use, and repeat as needed.

  12. KFI's Bryanon 04 Jan 2008 at 12:43 pm

Thanks all. However, let me clear something up. Schram had nothing to do with my ouster. Kenny may have loathesome political opinions, but he’s a stand up guy. If I had been paired with him from the outset, The Tators would be killing Limbaugh and Dave Ross 9-noon (maybe not Limbaugh).
Regardless, Schram is a pro and (off air) a really good guy. Where I’m going (back) to, it’s all about good radio. Not boring authors or inside baseball “live Iowa coverage” at 8pm. Or forced banter. It’s good radio. Period. If you’ve ever heard Jim Rome’s sportstalk, that’s my new show. Only, I get to use the WHOLE newspaper. Any-hoo, I’ll keep Karl (LSU) updated as events warrant.

I am soooooooooo glad to hear that we’ll at least be able to stream you Bryan. I was “Suits-itized” (think Hannitized) a few years ago after being a moderate Democrat. I can’t thank you enough dude.

I have no idea if I’m part of KVI’s target audience (27, white, live in rural Pierce County), but I do know they lost this listener the day everything changed. I haven’t turned the radio back since.

    Give ‘em hell, Bryan!

  14. Danoon 13 Jan 2008 at 2:35 am

LA?! Well, sorry about that but what a radio market! Congrats. Those of us in the Sound will miss you but at least we can catch you over the ‘net until your syndication, and that WILL happen, no doubt!
Just an aside…KVI is now refusing all advertising for anything related to firearms. Conservative talk? Not any more. RIP KVI.

  15. Hughon 16 Jan 2008 at 9:56 am

My hunch is KVI lost Suits, not Suits got let go by KVI and he is simply being gracious. As others have pointed out he’s too talented to waste away on KVI. Our loss locally, but I agree that he is on the way up. I’ve had the privelage of listening to him since he was on KVI back around 2000 or so. I’ve been trying to tell people how entertaining his work is, but most people hear KVI and talk radio and their eyes glaze over, so he has remained almost like a great indy rock band that nobody has ever heard of. I wish him the best, and to be honest getting him on podcast is better than having to tune into the radio anyway.

Thanks for the pointer to his new locale, btw.

  16. Karlon 16 Jan 2008 at 10:56 am

No it was confirmed they canceled his show.

He say’s that he saw the signs it was coming, and that “that’s radio”.

No matter, he is smart enough to make it a win, and he did.

  17. Chrison 17 Jan 2008 at 10:31 pm

I don’t see anything referrencing Bryan on the KFI web site…John Ziegler is listed as the 7 – 10 host…iTunes does not offer a Bryan Suits podcast…has he started yet???

  18. Derek Wildstaron 22 Jan 2008 at 1:01 pm

Bryan is now listed on the KFI website and he started on Monday, 1/21. I was sorry to see it confirmed that Lt. Suits would in fact be leaving Seattle area radio but not all that surprised. I was however quite happy to hear that he landed at KFI and I look foreward to hearing the show streaming on the interweb.

Bryan, if you’re reading this, thanks for all the great radio at the two stations in Seattle as well as the ammo for skirmishing with Seattle liberals…

  19. Sylviaon 05 Mar 2008 at 3:00 pm

whoo hooo! I can get my Bryan-Fix online now. Glad to hear he’s doing well. I’m listening to his podcast from 3/3 as I type, and he sounds just the same as I remember.

  20. Toddon 05 Mar 2008 at 3:31 pm

Bryan, I miss your show, and hope to hear you again on the local air waves through syndication. Enjoy the Repulik of Kalifornia… better you than me. :)

  21. Philipon 10 Mar 2008 at 8:22 pm

I moved up from Orange County a year and a half ago and I have already told many of my old conservative buddies to give you a listen.

Enjoy the nuts and bolts of Sacramento. KFI is lucky to have you to have you.

  22. Richardon 12 Apr 2008 at 10:37 am

Yes, we are Suits-less in Seattle………………miss you big guy!

  23. Con 12 May 2008 at 9:24 pm

Looks like Bryan got stuck with Kennedy…can’t imagine that’s what he moved down there for. Oh well, maybe he can quit and go work in one of the other 56 states….with Barak…
