Global Warming/Goracle update - Eco-Nanny roundup

Published by Karl under Global Warming, cantwell, eco-nanny, gore

I haven’t taken the time to put together a round up of the Enviro-nitwit Supreme and all the other fun, so now seems like a good time.

I do want to note one thing though, and that is the I am retiring the phrase “eco-nazi” from the blog, except in rare occasions.

I decided that the term “Eco-Nanny” instead.  It seems to fit the “we know what’s best for you” mentality that so many of these idiots seem to favor.

With that in mind, let’s see what’s going on.

First up is the Mighty Alarmists Supreme, the Grand Goracle, the mighty Al Gore, the biggest nanny of them all.

Al has taken on a new target for his science-less propaganda:  Bloggers.

Gore pushes environment with activist bloggers

Former Vice President Al Gore made a surprise appearance Saturday at the Netroots Nation conference, a gathering of nearly 2,000 left-leaning bloggers and political organizers. He urged the activists to mobilize for global climate protection by amplifying his call to generate all the nation’s electricity from renewable sources like wind, solar and geothermal in 10 years.

Gore, who joined Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during her session at the convention, praised the bloggers as being at the forefront of reclaiming American democracy.

“Thank you for the movement that you have created,” Gore said. “I can’t tell you how important I think it is that you continue what you are doing.”

Of course the movement the nutroots have created is mindless extremism, but ok.

Gore said the seriousness of the climate problem is related to the economic and security crises of U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

Recent Republican calls to battle rising oil prices with more drilling are “absurd” and a bit like curing a hangover with another drink, he said.

Of course his stupid remarks went a little further:

Gore compares offshore drilling to invasion of Iraq

Local Liberal Tolerance.

I heard about this on the radio, and was fairly disgusted but not surprised.  It has happened too many times and places before.

What I find a bit troubling is that the students were required to attend a politcal campaign rally by Democrats.  That seems to be a problem of its own.

Anyway, here is the story in full, as posted to the Sound Politics Public Blog.

Senator Cantwell/Bellevue Community College Violate My First Amendment Rights

Hey everyone, my name is Nick Jacob and I’m a sophomore at Bellevue Community College. I just wanted to let you know about a situation that occured Thursday on campus in which I, and four others, were denied access to the Maria Cantwell/Barack Obama rally because we were wearing Mike Mcgavick for Senate t-shirts.

Four days ago, on October 24th, BCC public safety director Joe Fithian sent out an email to all BCC students, letting us know about the Cantwell/Obama rally, and advising us about what we should do about parking. In that email, Mr. Fithian declared:

"The Cantwell campaign has told us BCC students are welcome to attend this event. Doors open at 9 a.m., and no tickets are necessary. The speeches are expected to begin shortly after 10. Further questions about the event should be directed to Sen. Cantwell’s campaign headquarters, at 206-217-2006."

When I found out about the event, I called my friend and asked him if he would go to Mcgavick’s headquarters and get some t-shirts, stickers, signs, etc. He did that, and we showed up on campus today wearing our McGavick t-shirts. We got in line, where a couple of our friends joined us, also wearing the McGavick shirts. A student we had never met before, Justin Yates, then approached us and said, "Oh, I guess this is where the Republicans are," and told us he was a Republican as well. We gave him an extra shirt we had, and there we stood: five Republican rebels.

NPI brags as Cantwell blinks

Published by Karl under cantwell

NPI (Northwest Progressive Institute) has a piece up applauding Cantwell for her newly formed position on Iraq.

Maria, like Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman have long been criticized for their support of the war and the troops.  Many northwest Liberals have been increasingly calling for hr head, politically speaking.

After seeing the treatment by Lieberman by the DNC, it seems Maria has suddenly realized that she is playing a big game of chicken with the party over her position, a stare down if you will against the rabid liberal Bush haters.

Monday, she blinked.

Oh, of course it is presented as a clarification, which is political speak for flipping, just as her statements on the minimum wage bill were not lies, they were nuanced.

Sen. Cantwell clarifies her position on Iraq

Senator Maria Cantwell yesterday clarified her position on the Iraq conflict, reaffirming her previous stance that 2006 must be a year of transition and that we need to begin the process of bringing American troops home.

Here’s what the Senator said yesterday:

If the Congress knew then, what we know today, even the Republican leadership would not have brought it to a vote.

Irellevant.  Of course no one would.

If the Bush Administration had done the hard work of building an international coalition to really contain Saddam, there would have been no vote.

If I knew then everything that I know today and the Republican leadership still brought it up for a vote, I would have voted no.

And most people would respect that, but again, that is irellevant.

While mistakes were made in the way Bush took us to war, the Republican led Congress has not done its job of providing aggressive oversight of the Iraq war. In the days ahead, the Congress must use the power of the purse to hold the Bush Administration accountable for more progress towards beginning to bring our troops home this year.

We will always make sure our troops have everything they need to do their jobs well, but we will look at other cost cutting measures.
