Hey! Those Burqa’s and scarfs the Muslim women wear are really feminist or something

Published by Karl under Idiots, feminism, islamofascism

At least according to Naomi Wolf.

Behind the veil lives a thriving Muslim sexuality

The West interprets veiling as repression of women and suppression of their sexuality. But when I travelled in Muslim countries and was invited to join a discussion in women-only settings within Muslim homes, I learned that Muslim attitudes toward women’s appearance and sexuality are not rooted in repression, but in a strong sense of public versus private, of what is due to God and what is due to one’s husband. It is not that Islam suppresses sexuality, but that it embodies a strongly developed sense of its appropriate channelling - toward marriage, the bonds that sustain family life, and the attachment that secures a home.

My take on the Letterman/Palin feud, with Palin’s shocking defender

Published by Karl under Palin, feminism, hollywierd

The summary of this is that former VP nominee Gov Sarah Palin was in New York with her family and Letterman couldn’t resist the chance to poke at her a bit in his top ten:

Letterman Top Ten: Palin has a “slutty flight attendant look”

I bet Ashley Herzog’s bummed he didn’t pull this a day earlier, huh? It would have made a sweet addition to her latest column. The best part: Letterman wondering why Slutty Flight Attendant didn’t stop by the show.

I guess if you can’t make ‘em laugh anymore, you might as well make ‘em wince. You missed your calling as a writer for Playboy, Dave.

Good point actually.  Coming on the heels of the hate f*ck column at Playboy, this is another indication of the lack of respect offered to conservative women.

And exactly why does he make a connection to “flight attendant” and “slutty”?  I have a friend who is an FA and she is hardly slutty, and from recent flights, I cannot recall seeing any that were dressed thus.  I wonder where the FA unions are in this?

The current price of innocence: $3.7M, as virginity becomes a commodity

Published by Karl under Idiots, feminism, values

I think what surprises me about this story is that I am not surprised.  Or perhaps I should say that I am saddened by the fact that I don’t find this shocking, as I once would have.

Student auctions off virginity for offers of more than £2.5 million ($3.7m)

Natalie Dylan, 22, claims her offer of a one-night stand has persuaded 10,000 men to bid for sex with her.

Last September, when her auction came to light, she had received bids up to £162,000 ($243,000) but since then interest in her has rocketed.

The student who has a degree in Women’s Studies insisted she was not demeaning herself.

So apparently she decided against a student loan.

Miss Dylan, from San Diego, California, USA, said she was persuaded to offer herself to the highest bidder after her sister Avia, 23, paid for her own degree after working as a prostitute for three weeks.

“I think me and the person I do it with will both profit greatly from the deal.”

Racism and Feminism in America: The sad truth

If you connect the dots between racism, sexism and democrats you end up with one word:

Hijacked.

In both cases we had serious social issues.  We had serious social revolution.  We had real change and social enlightenment.

And we ended up with both issues being hijacked by the democrat party for political gain, with many of the advances and changes being lost in the betrayal.

In both cases equality and empowerment were traded for victim hood and entitlement.

I am no social expert on either topic.  But I can speak to change because I have seen change.

I have seen peoples attitudes shift and their determination to be fair and to ignore race and sex.

But I have also seen opportunists.  People who stir the flames of distrust to gain power and prestige.

I have seen racism and sexism offered as default explanations to imaginary problems.

I have seen white males herded into an atavistic corner, and told they are racists and sexists and that they can never change because of institutional discrimination and white male privilege.

The Feminists unload on Palin, and the truth is exposed

Published by Karl under feminism

Ever since her nomination in August, Feminists have been losing their minds about Palin.

Her pro life and other conservative positions has frankly driven them nuts.  Chief of the PDS abusers have been the feminists.

One of the first I saw was Sarah Seltzer1:

When I saw that John McCain had picked Sarah Palin as his running mate this morning, I was on the elliptical trainer, and my rage propelled me to the most furious workout I’ve had in a while.

It’s always exciting to see women enter the political fray at higher levels. But a lot of feminists out there, are appalled by the cynicism and condescension inherent in this choice. It’s as though the McCain camp believes our irrational she-hormones will lead us, like sheep, to pull the lever for any candidate who looks like us–even if she has a strong record, as Palin does, of standing against women’s interests.

Of course there is a complete lack of basis for that last statement, but ignore that for the moment.

I found this small round up of hysteria by Jonah Goldberg at NRO2:

What PDS really shows Part 2 : A Redefining of Feminism

Published by Karl under Palin, feminism

Note: This is part 2 in a series looking at Sarah Palin, the reactions on the left, and what that means.  Part 2 was intended to be a recital of all the false allegations, but I decided to address more on the issues raised yesterday by Camille Paglia on one area that Sarah Palin has had a huge impact:  Feminism.

That appears to be one of the more surprising aspects of the rise of Sarah Palin in national prominence:  A solid unabashed Conservative is now the new Poster Child for American Feminism.

Feminism has long been a Democrat stronghold.  They owned exclusive rights to the world of Gloria Steinem and Helen Gurley Brown.  The battle of the sexes was fought between Billie Jean King and Bobbi Riggs and family values redefined by the sniping between Dan Quayle and Candice Bergen (Murphy Brown).

Republicans and conservatives have long been the enemy with the baseless accusation that conservatives want women to be subjected to a life of subjugation akin to the Yearning For Zion religious community in Texas.

Now, suddenly, the new role model is a former beauty queen turned hockey mom, a mother of 5 and a woman who rejects the #1 feminist issue, abortion.

What PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome) really shows Part 1

Desperation.

Nothing more, and nothing less.

The democrats have reached a severe point of desperation in the presidential race as they face something they cannot understand, and find to be anathema:  A woman who is feminist, successful, and unapologetically conservative.

The democrats would have you believe that conservative men are unibrowed atavistic chauvinists who want their women barefoot and pregnant.  They likewise consider conservative women to be ignorant slaves to their religion and men, and when one pops up that is strong willed, yet not subservient to the liberal agenda and dogma, they freak out, and begin to attack them for the very things that they claim to respect:  Women who are independent to their own ideals, dependent on no one and willing to fight for their beliefs.

The attacks on Palin are by far some of the sexist and most ridiculous attacks I can recall, and in their own way, they are a massive compliment to Ms Palin’s qualifications.  The democrats know she is not only capable and qualified, but that she brings a sense of life to the campaign that has never been seen.

Geraldine Ferraro says something blatantly obvious and all hell breaks loose

So here is what is going on.  Ferraro, the 1984 Democrat Vice Presidential nominee, has come under fire for essentially stating the truth.

Ferraro’s Remarks About Obama Decried

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she disagrees with Geraldine Ferraro, one of her fundraisers and the 1984 vice presidential candidate, for suggesting that Barack Obama only achieved his status in the presidential race because he’s black.

In a brief interview with The Associated Press, Clinton was questioned about Ferraro’s remarks. The Obama campaign has called on the New York senator to denounce them.

Ferraro told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, Calif.:

“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

The real victim of Global Warming: Women?

Published by Karl under Global Warming, feminism

Apparently so:

Global Warming Sexism: ‘Women Bear the Brunt of Climate Change’

As you certainly know by now, the liberal bogeyman known as global warming has been implicated by green media representatives and Al Gore sycophants - assuming there’s a difference - as being responsible for virtually every planetary malady.

Yet, did you know that women are more threatened by climate change than men?

You didn’t?

Honestly, with a woman in good position to be the Democrat’s presidential nominee, all I can say is, “What took them so long to come up with this one?”

As feministicly reported by India’s Sify (emphasis added throughout):

They have to walk to fetch water, fodder or fuel wood. They have to work longer hours in fields that fetch less and less. After floods and storms, they still have to put food on the plate.

Women bear the brunt of climate change every year, a global network of women’s groups pointed out here.

You really can’t make this stuff up:

A Hillary round up, with cartoons

Hillary has had a tough week.  Falling poll numbers, falling flags and more importantly a loss of her sense of invulnerability.  For weeks her attitude and that of many has been that she is the inevitable candidate.  Now suddenly she is just another candidate.

The reasons is that the other democrats are actually treating her as a front runner, one whom them want to stop, which means when she waffles in the debate as she did recently, her behavior is fair game.

And her reaction?

Clinton Regroups As Rivals Pounce

After a rare night of fumbles by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, her rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination rushed to maximize the damage yesterday, even as her advisers argued that the “piling on” engaged in by an all-male field of opponents will ultimately drive more female voters into her camp.

Clinton strategists grudgingly acknowledged that the performance in Tuesday’s debate in Philadelphia was not her finest and they sought to contain the fallout. They worked to clarify her muddled response to a question about whether she supports giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants — she backs it, they said — and quickly produced a video, titled “The Politics of Pile-On,” splicing together in rapid-fire fashion her rivals’ attacks from the event.
