2008 day 1: The insanity begins already

Published by Karl under OTA, Pelosi, Sheehan

Straight out of the gate, the foolishness begins.

I knew it would.

And who better to inaugurate the insanity then St Cindy Sheehan.  She started it off with yet another threat:

Sheehan/BDS/Truther mob to disrupt Rose Bowl parade

The impeachment mob plans to stink up the Rose Bowl parade. It’s all part of the New Year’s wave of BDS activities I’ve been telling you about. Prepare for the ultimate moonbat convergence:

There could be some discord during the Tournament of Roses Parade as demonstrators promise to raise issues during the holiday spectacle that has been going on for more than a century. Human rights advocates plan to protest a float honoring the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and anti-war activists, including “Peace Mom” Cindy Sheehan, intend to rally for peace…

Call this what it is:  An opportunity for visibility and media attention.  Long ago, Cindy became the left’s most annoying media whore, and nothing has changed for the new year.

And as she promised, so she did:

Cindy Sheehan: Down with BushCo–and screw the evil corporate Rose Bowl parade, too!

As promised, St. Cindy stinks up the Rose Bowl parade and delivers an unhinged salvo posted at After Downing Street–complete with BushCo/Hitler epithets, anti-American insults, and Absolute Moral Authority sanctimony:

Gold Star Families for Peace and the Camp Casey Peace Institute has joined a group called the “White Rose Coalition” that will be carrying a large copy of the Constitution at the end of the parade and the Backbone Campaign’s Chain Gang will be following the parade. Many activists will tag along with our “Impeachment” banners, signs and other means of protest to call national attention to the accountability issue.

Being involved in this particular action has engendered the most hate mail for me since I left the Democratic Party! I am “ruining the parade.” I am the “representation of everything that is evil in the world today.” One woman named Carrie, was “sorry” that my son is dead, but he volunteered to “honor” this country with his service and even though Carrie is no “fan” of Bush (yeah sure), I have really “crossed the line” this time.

Picture of the year: Saint Cindy speaks, and Atlas Shrugs is there

Published by Karl under OTA, Sheehan

SVC alerted me to this.

Mama Sheehan was continuing her campaign against reason, and Atlas Shrugs was there.

See the video below and enjoy how the conservative voices of dissent were pushed as away as possible, and their American Flag were called dangerous weapons…by the cops.

See the exploited kids too.  The pictures are at Atlas Shrugs.   But the picture at the bottom of this page speaks a thousand words.  Or see it here.

And Pam is my hero for keeping her temper and filming so much of this idiocy.

And here it is:  Saint Cindy speaks.  She want to beat Nancy Pelosi for congress. Well, here is what you will get:  A rambling diatribe against the protesters, against Bush and Hallyburton, and against the democrats.

Saint Cindy still hates everyone.

Nothing new here…move along folks.

And the picture of the day:

Pam is my hero.

Cindy Sheehan figures it out…well partially anyway

Published by Karl under Democrats, OTA, Sheehan

All along I have written and believed that Cindy Sheehan was a useful idiot for the left, a sympathetic morally untouchable figurehead for the anti war anti Bush left.

And Like Watada, their latest useful idiot, as soon as her effectiveness and usefulness is gone, they will turn away.

Cindy finally got that message.  This is her message on Daily Kos.

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called “Face” of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such “liberal blogs” as the Democratic Underground. Being called an “attention whore” and being told “good riddance” are some of the more milder rebukes.

I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial Day Morning. These are not spur of the moment reflections, but things I have been meditating on for about a year now. The conclusions that I have slowly and very reluctantly come to are very heartbreaking to me.

The first conclusion is that I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican Party. Of course, I was slandered and libeled by the right as a “tool” of the Democratic Party.  This label was to marginalize me and my message. How could a woman have an original thought, or be working outside of our “two-party” system?

Or maybe she didn’t get it.  This is not about gender, or about her place in society as a woman, and she demeans her own argument by trying to imply it is.

However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the “left” started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used. I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of “right or left”, but “right and wrong.”

The tears of the President

Published by Karl under Bush, Military, Sheehan

r284055357.jpgIt is easy to dismiss the politicians as cold and unfeeling.   Out of touch.  It is not always the case, however.

One thing I have always admired about Bush was his humanity.  He has never been afraid to let his emotions show.  Remember Ashley Faulkner?  There is a reason the photo and story went viral.  It was because people see his sincerity.

Yes I know the DU and KOS will label both of these stories "the crocodile tears of the killer" of some nutrooty label, but I disagree.

I think he has the weight of 3000 deaths or more on his shoulders and he feels it.

And as he gave the Medal of Honor to the family of a Marine killed in Iraq, I think his emotions are honest and real.

Maybe I am misguided, but that’s how I feel.

Like my friend Sister Toldjah, I want to honor the life and sacrifice of a hero, a Marine who literally threw himself on a grenade.

Tears Are Shed at the White House for a Marine’s Bravery in Iraq

In April 2004, Cpl. Jason L. Dunham, an ordinary recruit from a small town in upstate New York, did something extraordinary: he threw himself on a grenade to shield two men in his unit as they battled insurgents on a road in Iraq.

On Thursday, President Bush gave Corporal Dunham, who was 22 when he died, the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award, presenting it to his mother and father in a somber East Room ceremony attended by his relatives and friends.

In an interview on Tuesday, as she was preparing to make the six-hour trip to Washington for the ceremony, Corporal Dunham’s mother, Debra, said she wished her son could “receive it himself.” “But we will receive it for him, and he will be watching us do that,” she said.

Anti War Liberals attack the New Direction Congress- Cindy Sheehan disrupts Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel’s Press conference

Published by Karl under Democrats, Sheehan, congress

Reported on Drudge:  Sheehan has been a consistent and persistent thorn in the side of any democrat who is not as zealous as she is.  She has called out Hillary and other lukewarm Anti-War Democrats, and now she has taken aim at a larger target.

Congress in general.

At issue here was her demanding they stop funding the war ahead of all other issues, where as the Democrats had ethics reform as their first new agenda item.

Protesters disrupt press conference on lobbying reform

House Democrats tried to unveil their lobbying reform package today, but their press conference was drowned out by chants from anti-war activists who want Congress to stop funding the Iraq war before taking on other issues.

Led by Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a slain soldier, the protesters chanted "De-escalate, investigate, troops home now" as Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., began outlining the Democrats’ plans to ban lobbyist-funded travel and institute other ethics reforms. The press conference was held in the Cannon House Office Building in an area open to the public.

Emanuel finally gave up trying to be heard over the chants, and retreated to a caucus room where Democrats were meeting.

Sheehan says she has nothing against lobbying reform, but she and her fellow anti-war activists want Democrats to know they will keep pressuring Congress to end the war in Iraq.

"We wanted the Democrats to know they’re back in power because of the grass roots," Sheehan says.

The anti-war activists held their own Capitol Hill press conference earlier in the day before deciding to attend the lobbying reform press conference as well.

Before the chanting started, Sheehan got a hug from Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

I am almost sympathetic to the Democrats here.  Ethics reform is something I fundamentally think is necessary, and Sheehan is someone I am patently unsympathetic to in any event.

Sheehan heading for the trees

Published by Karl under Sheehan

Nope, that isn’t a misprint.  In the article below she will explain why.  In the meantime, since she was nice enough to have a QnA, I will nice enough to comment on it.:

Cindy Sheehan Q&A: Peace icon on the mend, looking ahead

CRAWFORD — The growing anti-war movement fueled by last summer’s peace demonstrations in Crawford resurfaces in Washington, D.C., today, but the peace icon who sparked it all won’t be there.

Cindy Sheehan says she’s taking a hiatus from her activist role to heal and re-energize herself after a trying and torrid summer.

Most of the 100 or so anti-war demonstrators who joined her this year had left her peace camp in Crawford by the close of the Labor Day weekend. However, Sheehan, 49, remained behind, collecting herself after what proved a low-profile protest compared to last year’s massive, monthlong demonstration near President Bush’s ranch.

Could it be her 15 minutes is finally up?

This year’s protest gathered little steam in Crawford. Bush, who usually spends the entire month of August at his nearby ranch, cut his vacation to 10 days. And when Sheehan wasn’t hospitalized for exhaustion, dehydration and gynecological problems, she was recuperating at a motel in nearby McGregor.

How, pray tell does one recuperate at a motel?  I can never get a good night’s sleep at one.

Sheehan looked tired and moved slowly when she granted a brief interview to the Tribune-Herald. Her son, Andy, 22, sat with her. She talked about this year’s protest; her controversial association with Hugo Chavez, the anti-American president of Venezuela; and her plans for the five-acre spread she purchased for $52,500 just north of Crawford this summer.

Q: You’ve spent a lot of the past month in the hospital or on the mend. How do you feel?

A: Just really tired.

Q: You’ve been spending a lot of your time in McGregor instead of Crawford.

A: Yeah, when I haven’t been in the hospital.

Q: How does Camp Casey this year compare to last year? You became an international event in 2005.

Cindy Sheehan hospitalized

Published by Karl under Sheehan

Ok, I dont like her. I disagree with her politics, motives and her anti semitism.

But I certainly don’t wish her ill health.

Drudge is reporting she was hospitalized for exhaustion and dehydration.

Sheehan Treated for Dehydration in Texas

Anti-war demonstrator Cindy Sheehan was hospitalized Friday evening for dehydration and exhaustion after fasting for more than a month and protesting earlier this week in 100-degree weather, friends and relatives said.

Sheehan was listed in stable condition at Providence Health Center in Waco. Brenda Mauk, a nursing supervisor, declined to release additional information.

Sheehan, 49, was hospitalized after friends picked her up Friday afternoon at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where she arrived after spending several days in Seattle at the Veterans for Peace convention, said friend Tiffany Burns.

Sheehan, who has been on a liquid diet as part of the nationwide "Troops Home Fast" hunger strike, had been treated and released from a Seattle emergency room Thursday night. On doctors orders, she ate for the first time in about 37 days, Burns said.

Sheehan also underwent additional tests for uterine bleeding, her sister Dede Miller said.

Sheehan was to spend Friday night in the Waco hospital but planned to attend some war protest activities Saturday at the 5-acre lot she bought last month in Crawford, President Bush’s adopted hometown, about 20 miles from Waco.

Sheehan kicked off her summer war protest Sunday, the one-year anniversary of her first anti-war demonstration in Crawford that attracted more than 10,000 people over 26 days.

"She’s in good spirits, but she’s sad she can’t be at Camp Casey," Burns told The Associated Press, referring to the campsite named for her soldier son Casey who was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Well anyone with moderate amount of common sense knows that fasting is dangerous.  But the reports of her fasting (see Michelle Malkins site…) really left me wondering what she was thinking.

Mel: His anti semitic comments, and his apology, with nods to Cindy Sheehan and Iran for their lack thereof.

Yes we all know that Mel Gibson got a DUI and shot his drunken mouth off, apparently using some fairly clear racial anti semitic epitaths.  In the drama that followed, he made a minor apology, then stunned everyone by actually making a clear apology that made no attempt to diminish his actions.

In Hollywood and in Washington DC, that is anathama.  Here is the basic details of the apology:

Mel Gibson asks the Jewish community for help

Mel Gibson has finally confirmed that the "despicable" comments he made, while he was being arrested for alleged drunk driving, were in fact anti-Semitic. And now he’s asking for help. Here’s his latest statement, issued today, via the Associated Press:

There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge.

I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words.

The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God’s child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.

I’m not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing.

Cindy Sheehan organizes a hunger strike…sort of.

Published by Karl under Liberals, Sheehan, hollywierd

Cindy is back and has begun a summer long hunger strike.  She has stated she intends to only drink water for the next 3 months or so, or until the troops come home.  I am betting the strike ends first.

As reported at Michael Moore:

GSFP and Code Pink are sponsoring a hunger strike for peace which begins July 04, called Troops Home Fast Some of us like Dick Gregory and Diane Wilson will be fasting until the troops come home from Iraq, and some, like me, will be fasting for a specified time. My fast will begin on 7/04 and end on the last day of Camp Casey: 09/02.

We are announcing the fast from Washington, DC on 07/04 and having our last supper on 07/03 in Lafayette Park.

If you can join us in DC on the 3rd and 4th, or fast in solidarity with us on that day, or any other time, please let me know.

Love and peace soon,
Cindy

Peace or pizza?

Anyway, the link above leads to the official site which says:

The fasters are demanding that we bring our troops home from Iraq. They want the White House and Congress to call for:

  • The withdrawal of all U.S. from Iraq;
  • No permanent bases in Iraq;
  • A commitment to fund a massive reconstruction effort but with funds going to Iraqi, not U.S., contractors.

That’s a new twist, they want to elimi’nate contractors….oh. wait….I get it…Halliburton.  Gotcha.

Our fasters now include Cindy Sheehan; actress Susan Sarandon, environmentalist Diane Wilson; comedian Dick Gregory; singer Willie Nelson; Dr. Bob Edgar, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches; Dr. E. Faye Williams, National Chair of the National Congress of Black Women; Colonel Ann Wright; Iraq veteran Geoffrey Millard; Kim Gandy, President of the National Organization for Women; and CODEPINK cofounders Medea Benjamin, Jodie Evans and Gael Murphy.

Couple of famous names there, Susan Sarandon and Willie Nelson.  A 3 month fast is a serious thing, so I wonder how these people intend to make a living?
