Isn’t it great that we are all equal in his sight?  Sorry, this is creepy.

Obama’s Cairo Speech: It actually didn’t suck

Published by Karl under ACORN, Obama mania!, islamofascism

I will let Hot Air drill down to the details, but in brief, while it was not totally satisfying to most conservatives, it was surprisingly strong in a lot of critical areas.

I didn’t get the chance to watch Barack Obama’s Cairo speech live, although I’m sure that it will be chopped up on YouTube within the next couple of hours.  Instead, I read the full text posted by Andrew Malcolm, as well as Andrew’s commentary, and in most ways, it wouldn’t differ from a similar speech given by any recent American President.  In fact, the Cairo audience may have been a little surprised about the depth of the defense of Israel’s right to exist in peace, as well as the strong denunciation of 9/11 Trutherism that has been wildly popular among Arabs, even though Osama bin Laden claimed credit long ago for the attack.

The big surprise for me, considering the amount of anti semitic advisors he has, was hi staunch support of Israel as a Nation.

Sunday Musings: Moving on

Published by Karl under Obama mania!, Sunday Musings

So last week I mentioned the personal issues happening here.  A big thank to to all who emailed me!

The decision to write that musing was not an easy one.  I don’t like bringing my personal life to the blog very often.

First of all, it is easy to become whiny and needy ands self indulgent that way.  Sympathy is really nice sometimes, but it can be a drug.  Not that I shun people who express sympathy, as so many have.  Far from it!  I appreciate every person who felt compelled to express their thoughts.

But bottom line, my problems are mine and mine alone, and I have to deal with them myself, and while I can allow myself to be encouraged by my friends, I cannot allow myself to be propped up by their sympathy.

I don’t regard this as a failure, mind you.  I guess I am not quite that traditional.  Sometimes people move in different directions.  Sometimes being apart or with someone else is necessary.  I could go on for hours on marriage, and how societies corruption has devalued it, but what would the purpose be?  I am where I am, and  must deal with it.  Preaching to the choir won’t help.

Sunday Musings: Failure is always an option

Published by Karl under Obama mania!

Note: I still have a sprained wrist and arm, and typing is extremely painful.  Most of my posts this week will be brief as a result.

We hear a lot about failure these days, thanks to Barack Obama and Rush Limbaugh.  Rush made his failure comment about Obama and the whole world became convinced he was either the devil or the head of the republican party, which to some is the same.

The reality is that Rush is the most honest man in America if you are brave enough to face up to the reality of his comments.  He said what he felt.  He evaluated the plans Obama was putting into play, and he determined the result would be bad for America in his opinion.  At that moment, his desire to see Obama fail was the most honest and patriotic position he could take.

His critics assume something that Rush has not bought into, that Obama’s plans might work and make America great.  In Rush’s estimation, Obama’s plans could easily succeed, but their success would mean something bad in the long run for America.

Matthews v Fleischer = comedy gold

Published by Karl under Idiots, MSM, Obama mania!

I make no effort to hide the fact that I loath Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball.  The man is a political hack who pretends to be tough.  He has been so far in the tank for Obama it is pathetic.  And his open hostility and utter lack of objectivity of Bush is frankly the embodiment of BDS.

But not only that, like many other pundits, he is just plain rude.  He will invite a guest on, and then hammer them with accusations and bullying tactics, while refusing to allow them to answer his loaded question.

So when he has on Ari Fleischer who is defending the positives of the Bush ;legacy, it was sure to be an ugly show.  Matthews is at his worst behavior, rude, accusing, misrepresenting, flat out lying and utterly nauseating.

And in the the face of his bloviating, Ari was calm, cool, collected and utterly in control.  It was a truly amazing performance as Fleischer parried every attack and accusation, chided his host for his rudeness to the chuckles of the crew (around 8 minutes into it) and never really lost his composure, even as he loses patience about 4 minutes in.

Is the “students pledge to Obama” story a hoax? Possibly…

Published by Karl under Obama mania!, Schools

I posted this story yesterday, and today more information has surfaced that bears mentioning.

First up is this site that is claiming it is a hoax.  The author says (emphasis original):

The Clark County School District calls the story “bogus!!” with the exclamation points clear.  Spokesmen for the district complain they’ve been fielding calls all day, none with details.  Their check of the district’s schools turns up nothing.

None of the bloggers bothered to check the facts, it appears.  The story so far checks out to be a hoax.  No one can name the school, no one can name the kid, no one can corroborate the story.

I should probably mention that this is hardly proof it is a hoax.  Lack of info is not necessarily falsity.

I spoke again with David Roddy at the Clark County School District offices.  He confirmed that as of late this afternoon (January 30) no one had stepped forward to identify the school where the event is alleged to have occurred, nor the name of anyone involved, nor any other fact that could be corroborated to vouch for the accuracy of the story.

First graders pledge allegiance…to Obama? Updated.

Published by Karl under Obama mania!

Minor Update:  Pamela at Atlas Shrugs and Ron Paul have both linked to this.  Still waiting for more verification.  The Jawa Report is also running the story.

Not directly of course.  Instead a large picture of him is projected during the pledge every morning.

Note:  I was not able to get any secondary validation to this story which I learned about about on Ping Back, so I am monitoring this to ensure it is  not a hoax, but either way, here is the story.

Pledge of Allegiance Becomes Pledge to Obama

A parent in the Clark County School District of Las Vegas, Henderson area reported today that his son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn’t want to go back to school anymore.

When asked why, the boy said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag.

Thinking that the boy might be exaggerating, the man asked his son if he was sure, and suggested that by “large” he might mean an 8×10 photo of the president. The boy apparently said “No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done, the teacher turns off the image.”

Little Blue Book of Quotations from Chairman Obama

Published by Karl under Obama mania!

little_blue_book-smallA friend sent me this, and I didn’t believe it at first.

But it is true.  Amazon has for sale a book called the “Pocket Obama.” It is a small blue book, packed with his most inspiring quotes.  Here is Amazon’s official description (emphasis mine).

Printed in a size that easily fits into pocket or purse, this book is an anthology of quotations borrowed from Barack Obama’s speeches and writings. POCKET OBAMA serves as a reminder of the amazing power of oratory and the remarkable ability of this man to move people with his words. His superb and captivating oratory style has earned comparisons to John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, and this collection presents words that catapulted his remarkable rise to the American Presidency. Includes themes of democracy, politics, war, terrorism, race, community, jurisprudence, faith, personal responsibility, national identity, and above all, his hoped-for vision of a new America. This book is truly a primer for readers who want to examine the substance of his thought and reflect on the next great chapter in the American story. It is an unofficial requirement for every citizen to own, to read, and to carry this book at all times.

Considering Obama, do I want him to fail?

Published by Karl under Obama mania!

It is a very fair question, considering how the left was, in my opinion, actively working to make Bush fail for the last 6 years or so.

The answer is not a simple yes or no question.

First, I need to define what success or failure means to me.

I don’t care about his legacy, or the continued prominence of the Democrat party when I consider what success means.

I consider it only in the context of this country and its success.

Now, let’s consider the issues that that might encompass:

  • Safety from terrorist attack - this is still my number one issue.
  • Recovering from the financial downfall - my second issue.
  • Immigration reform and border security - #3

Universal health care and all the entitlements are nowhere in my top ten.

Sorry just the way it is.  Look at his first executive orders for example.

Obama’s inauguration only the second most watched

Published by Karl under Obama mania!

I don’t have a point to make or an ax to grind here, it is just a curious observation.

When comparing Obama’s inauguration with that of past presidents it seemed an easy bet that his would be the most watched, with all of its historic ramifications.  I fully expected it to trounce any televised event in history.

But it came in number two to Ronald Reagan’s in 1980.

Now many speculate that people watching via the net may have diminished the crowds, and that is a good point indeed.  If that was accurately factored in, Obama would likely come out ahead.

But then that is also a curious trend as it shows the diminish importance of television in our daily news.

Just thinking aloud…
